In Linda's "Love Signs", she describes the relationship between a Scorpio man and a Cancer woman as one of the happiest in the zodiac.

My friends have had an on-again, off-again relationship for a few years--she's a Cancer, he's a Scorpio. He says they've always had a hard time of it. They just broke up again, I think maybe for good. They seem to have a wildly different relationship than the kind Linda describes, even though he strikes me as a typical Scorp and she is a typical Cancer.

It made me curious. I know Sun Sign astrology is far from the whole story, but...How closely have your relationships fit the ones Linda describes in "Love Signs"?

Hey there,

I think linda in love signs,,,,mentins the positive things as well as the threats ot each relationship....... which i understood to mean that any combo could be happy..nd any combo could potentially be miserable....the book just tells u..wht it is about their compatibility that makes them happy,,and what it is about their compatibility that could make them miserable

Looking at it that way...the book has generally been very accurate in its descrptions of me. ( but not always with the partner).yet my sun conjucts my moon so maybe this is what it is...

I think she has a lovely poetic style in describing the "essence" of the relationship...n it is these paragraphs tha r more applicable to ev one.. but te bits that get too specific...or the stories of examples of celebs or friends wth these suns, arent always accurate for everyone...

I was thinking just last night about these kinds of things....

My grandparents are a female Scorpio sun and a Cancer sun male....and they are truely soul mates..from an objective observers standpoint. She with Alzheimers and he takes care of her day in and day out and will not even consider placing her in a nursing home...

They are in their 80's and 90's.

I think we have to take into consideration generational situations when studying synastry.

Back in the day of my grandparents, divorce, even breakups were not heard of...couples got together, courted, married and stayed together.

So when someone says "my parents, grandparents are so happy and are this sun, that sun" the individuals are usually older, hence Goodman's writings.

If one were to study the movement of Uranus thoughtout history and his affect upon generations and the individual chart, I bet there would be much knowledge there. Saturn would probably be very telling as well!

The sun sign compatibilities are not exactly the same now as 40 years ago...

We as a society have become freer, non-comittant. etc.

Mommonitaa, I totally agree with you.

My own close relationships (Leo/Libra and Leo/Gemini) have very closely fit Linda's descriptions in terms of the "essence" of the relationship, although there are some differences when it comes to generational stuff and specifics.

I've talked to lots of friends over the years, and they've found "Love Signs" surprisingly accurate, too, in essence. That's why I'm surprised by this Cancer/Scorpio couple...their relationship is the first I've seen in the fifteen years since I first read "Love Signs" that seems radically different from the "essence" of Cancer woman/Scorpio man relating that Linda describes. It's not just that they keep breaking up and getting back together, but the way they emotionally relate, that seems very un-Cancer/Scorpio-like to me.

Extremely valid point, hippichick. And I, too, think that makes all the difference.

I'm in a cancer girl/scorpio guy relationship and while I think Lovesigns is a great guideline, but its not 100% accurate. I think that just goes to show that you can't rely on sunsigns alone because we have other influences.

Like for instance, he's not like the "dark and mysterious" type they describe in the chapter and that probably reflects the fact thathe has alot of "softer" and "lighter" influences in his chart (pisces moon, libra venus, sag merc). And secondly, I'm not fragile and definitely don't cry at the drop of a hat (cap Asc, virgo moon).

Yeah, the aspect thing is definitely important But, as a Canger gal, having been in two very deep relationships with Scorps I would say that barring their committment issues, everything was truly wonderful. But I experienced the on-again, off-again thing with both of them and it drove me nuts. I finally had to say "do you want to be with me or or NOT!?"

And so I have to agree that Uranus is definitely playing a part in this somewhere. And also Neptune.

I will say that those two relationships were by far the happiest I've ever had. Man, I love Scorpios.

I guess it depends on the person...
My friend had a thing for my cousin
she's Scorp sun, Cancer moon & asc
and my cousin is Cancer sun, Cancer moon & Pisces asc.

She liked him and he didn't like her
and then he started to like her back and she moved on and blah blaaahhhhhh.

Anyways, I think Love Signs is very accurate. I love how in the Aries woman, Virgo man, it's right on the money. Everything from what we say to each other to our actions to sex. Perfect. I love how Love Signs and just the way Linda writes, she always has a good side to a sun sign relationship that one would think is incompatible.

Hey, Love...when you confronted your wonderful Scorps about the on-again, off-again thing, did it stop, and then they made a committment?

If not, why did the relationships end?

My first love was a scorpio and around the time that i was having problems with him, thats when i first read the section of scorpio man-cancer woman in love signs. as soon as I read it, it was dead-on....scarily dead on, in fact, especially the intimacy section. we were in the earlier stages of forming a relationship, but still, whatever was written was happening to me and him at that time so i was amazed...I also read somewhere in this forum that if the sun sign placements dont match up for you in the book, try the moon signs because when you are in love, you tend to act like your moon sign. so lets say if you're moon is in gemini but you're a cancer sun and his moon is in leo but he's a scorp; try the leo man-gemini woman match-up in the book.

My current BF is a pisces and the cancer woman-pisces man description is also dead-on, altho i thought maybe linda was going on and on about acid rain for too long...lol...our moon sign match-up is so much more accurate, thought..he is a pisces moon and i am a scorpio moon and if you've read it; how they met; it's exactly like how me and my BF met.

Lucia23 ~

It's a sort of complicated story (and very long). I'll try to keep it brief.

The first Scorp is 4 years younger than me and so I knew from the beginning he was not ready to make the kind of commitment I wanted. I ended things with him, but really, it was over before that. He kept showing up at my house and calling and wanting to get back together (and we would) but once we were back together, he would feel like his need to focus on other aspects of his life was more important. Also, he had a problem with telling the truth He was really confused. Our relationship lasted 6 months.

The second Scorp just broke up with me this past June. He's 4 years older than me but right from the beginning I saw things that reminded me of Scorp #1. He had an inability to commit as well although his struggle was that our core values were different (ie - he's an athiest and thinks astrology is entertainment). We went through the same wretched pattern of breaking up and then getting back together. And then finally, after 6 months, we broke up for good. Still, he called, emailed, left me flowers and still puts song messages meant for me up on his My Space page about the fact that he misses me.

It's like they couldn't be with me but they couldn't not be with me either. I don't know who was more frustrated by all this (but I suspect it's still me).

I don't think this is typical Scorp behaviour per se. I wonder if it isn't just my 12th house Venus rearing it's ugly head once again. Also of note is that even though they are 8 years apart in age they share the same birthday and many of the same aspects.

Both relationships were very intense and I still love them both very much. I can see how if either one of them had wanted/been able to commit that I could have had a truly happy relationship with either one of them. If you take all the confusion out of it, the relationships were best I'd ever had...especially with the older Scorp. It seems funny to write that with everything that happened, but I was happy.

So there's really no way to look at Sun signs and predict anything but I think you can say that if the chart of a Cancer and a Scorpio match their feelings for each other then it can be a truly transcendental relationship.

* Oh yeah, I should admit here that after the younger Scorp and I were done I asked the universe to send me the 35 year old version, since I figured it was his age that was the problem. It wasn't the problem. So be careful what you ask for

Wow Love! How is it that you keep attracting one sign like that? That's never ever happened to me.

Anywho....

I think I tried that once and it was suprisingly accurate. Just to make sure I wasn't seeing what I wanted to see I tried it once on relationships of other people I know and I found theirs accuarate too. Honestly, for linda's take on sunsigns compatibility....I'd say the book is about 80% accurate (which is not bad at all). But if you use the book with the Moon signs, I'd rate that about 100% accurate.

Yes, 78orange.

10 years ago I looked Sun to Sun, 7 years ago I looked Sun to Sun and Sun to Moon and Moon to Moon and AC to AC and AC to Sun etc... in Linda's Love Signs, and now I look at every aspect I have the time and inclination to explore. I disregard the word "Sun" for the most part and read everything as "energy". So how we act when our Venus and Mars are interacting for example. Or when my emotions are reacting with his Mars etc.

I also agree that the Sun Sign description seems right on at the very beginning of the relationship, and the AC/AC (not to be confused with AC/DC ) if you are not safe within a relationship (either because you are not there yet or you are scared or defensive or fighting etc).

Overall, it was my first astrology book and still remains "first" in "my book". You just have to grow in your use of it as your knowledge grows... which she takes into consideration since she always references/mentions the AC and "other aspects" etc that draw the novice to further education. Work of Art indeed.

Dulce ~

I can only guess it's some serious karma. To hear the whole story, it's pretty unbelievable. The synchronicities and patterns are bizarre. And funnily enough, right in between those two Scorps I had a very brief 'something' with another Scorpio whose birthdate was the day before the birthdate of the other two. Plus, my best friend has the same b-day as the two Scorps.

I guess I have karma with that day of the year?? (And I'm very hopeful that I'm all paid up now. I'm tired.)

Whoa, so its even down to all these people having almost the same birthdays? That's definitely karma. And I remember you mentioning you had a Scorpio NN too. I know my Piscean NN has been activated, but in a different way. You see, I don't have too good a history with Pisces Suns (except my sister, a friend, and one person I met on this forum that I liked very much).

Yeah, I have Scorp NN and Vertex, all in the 5th house, although Libra technically rules the 5th which is where my Karma asteroid is hanging out (right on top of Pluto - Gah!)

I know what you mean about Pisces Suns. The women never seem to like me and I never seem to connect with the men. I don't know what's up with that. Although I do like Swerve quite a lot even though he's not around here much and I only see him on Facebook now

LOL, you just can't catch a break from Pluto, can ya?

Yeah, I like Swerve too despite the fact that we may clash on opinions sometimes. But there was a Portuguese guy here not too long ago that I thought was mad chill.
