I have asked this in another thread but did not receive many replies. I posted my birthdata and progressed it on astro. It gave me a Cap sun and a Tau AC for the prog. When I tried to make an independent chart with the UT time given, it gave me an Aries Ac and the Sun was at least 3 degrees off from the other progressed chart. Should I change my place of birth or my time of birth if I am putting in the data myself?

what do you mean by making an 'independant chart with that time"?!? a natal chart?

Yeah. I use the time given for the progressed chart to make a chart. Just like we would do a natal. But when I use that time and my place of birth the AC is all wrong.
I am trying to compare progressed charts for synastry.

I have a Scorpio Sun/ Pisc Ac in my natal chart. My prog chart puts my sun in Cap and AC in Tau. But when I use the timing given by the progressed chart to save the data for comparison with another chart in synastry it gives my sun as Cap but way off and my AC as Aries.
what am I doing wrong? My birth place is Bombay, my progressed chart gives time as UT. I tell the program to do the automatic time calculation to adjust for my birth place in the progressed.

not sure what you guys mean. how can you cast an "independent" version of a progressed chart? it is NOT a natal chart and HAS to come FROM your natal chart...?

Hi Katatonic,
If I have compared progressed synastry, I will have to cast the individual progressed chart for both people and then compare them.
I don't know how else can 2 progressed charts be compared for synastry. For casting the chart, I will have to get the progressed chart timing using the "natal and Progressed chart" option from the list of charts. I use this time as my time but am not sure what to use for place of birth.

look guys, I don't know how to say this but - do you know what a progressed chart really is? do you understand the difference between a progressed and a natal chart?

to put it simply - that 'time' on the progressd chart is NOT identical with the "real" time.

a progressed chart is a calculated chart based on a natal - it is not how the 'sky' looks at a given date - but how a natal chart looks if you move every planet in it by a certain, mathematical, degree - say 1 degree per month.

the planets DON'T really move 1 dgr per month; the progressed is a hypothetical chart or development of potential in a natal chart - based on a certain theory. that date you see on it simply says how many degrees the planets have been moved. if say, one is born in 78, and the porgressed is made for 2008 - every planet in the progressed is about 30 degrees left. obviously, the planets today look differently cos each of them moves at a diff rate.

P.S. the 1 degree/month is JUST AN EXAMPLE to simplify this! (that's how a secondary progressed moon is moved; each planet has a certain formula; for example, the slow planets rarely move at all in a progressed chart - that's why we don't use them in progressed)

Hi funnyface,

There is nothing wrong with Astro.com.
You put first your birthdatas, can see your Natal Chart. After that go to the Progressed Chart. Progressed Chart is different from Natal Chart as the Chart is one day for one year.

You can get also Natal Chart inside and Progressed planets outside.
Something more: if you put place from UK they know that is UT, you don't have to reduce one or two hours.

Hi Buena,
Which place in UK? I think my post is confusing, let me give solid eg:
I am 22 nov 1971 born at 2.19pm in Bombay, india. He is 2 oct 1969 born at 9.18pm in Jabalpur.I do a progressed with the natal, my chart progresses to 29 Dec 1971 with the time 7.36.44 UT. his progressed chart shows 10 nov 1969, 17.53.45UT.
Now I am trying to compare progressed synastry between the two of us. for this now I have to have two charts with the 29 Dec1971 and 10 Nov 1969 times and place of birth. I try to set the charts up like I would enter any natal chart. The hitch is it does not give which place of birth to use. So I use my original place of birth , Bombay. The UT time does not match, so I set the time zones and the AC goes haywire.
Hope I was a bit clearer this time.
Pl. help.
So now I am trying to compare synastry for my 29 Dec 1971 chart with

This is how I understand what you wrote:

You want to compare two progressed charts the same way astro.com compares two natal charts in a synastry, am I right?

Hi funnyface,

Sorry I have changed UT with UK.

As I know with both birth dates you can get Progressed Charts for both of you. Here is your Progressed Chart.

Hi funnyface,

Now you have your Progressed Chart for the day you want (the hour is a bit different).
I see only one way to make Synastry here: put birthdata's from your friend and get Progressed Chart for him. After that take the dates of Progression as the dates of your birth. By Astro.com is no other way.
Maybe somebody with extra Astrology Programm can do it.

I didn't see Synastry Chart from Progressed Charts until now. Sorry!

funnyface,

Now I see only one way: put the dates of Progressions, like:

You:
29 Dec 1971 with the time 7.36.44 UT, Bombay,India

Him:
10 nov 1969, 17.53.45 UT, Jabalpur, India

and get Natal Charts for both of you. After that you can make Synastry Chart.

Good luck,
Buena

hi deuxantares,
You are right, that is exactly what I want to do.

Hi buena,
Thanks a ton for the charts and help. But now you see that when I put this time for 29 Dec with bombay as my birthplace to make my new chart, the AC goes wrong and the sun is also off by at least 3 degrees.

I can't understand what I am doing wrong.

astro.com messes up for me a lot also. has different transits for showing natal and progressed together vs. just progressed by itself- same with the transits. try finding a free program:

Hi funnyface,

Nothing is deleted.

I see also sometimes is that the Chart is deleted (I post here) and after a while is the Chart there.

Look here: at that moment (2:10 pm CET) are both Charts there: Progressive Chart as also Synastry Chart between the two persons.

Good luck,
Buena

p.s. By the way, Synastry is not bad at all.

Hi buena,
I had this monster presentation this morning, so could not check ur mail. Thanks a lot for ur kind help. My stupid PC still shows the image to be deleted.
did u say that the synastry between the charts is good? Do u think there is any chance for this relationship? I understand that this is a progressed synastry chart, so will it be relevant synastry?

Funny

I mean you progress the two charts on astro.com then compare them manually. Yeah, it's a bit tedious. Maybe you can print out the accompanying graphs to make the comparison easier.

Hi deuxantares,
It is a lot of hard work for sure. Hats off to you. I am still learning things and still stumble a lot. It is difficult for me to imagine doing a manual comparison. Wow to you.

Funny

You are a Scorpio like me; just focus and you can do it . LOL. I'd been wondering what's going on the day I met someone so yesterday I checked both our transits and progressions for that day. I'm glad I did because now I have an explanation.
