On a whim, I looked up my sister's chart, and was surprised to find what appears to be a trapeze/rosetta configuration. Then I looked up what that meant, and, surprise surprise, I wasn't surprised. I'm just beginning to look at how her planets and houses interact, but I would love some insight into what this means. Her b-day is Oct 1, 1973 in Norfolk, VA at (around) 3 am. http://www.astro.com/cgi/showgif.cgi?lang=e&gif=astro_w2gw_01_lj_hp.54059.18952.gif&res=63&va=&cid=agifilejauOYH-u1190313948 EDIT* Just looked up my brother's chart, and it looks like he has a Grand Cross in mutable signs. The orbs are not that tight: Moon Gemini 13.35, Jupiter Pisces 12.25, Neptune Sag 6.58, and Sun Virgo 16.13. Is this a Grand Cross? His b-day is Sept 9, 1974 at 3:37 am, Norfolk. I think I'll take my two kites and t-square. IP: Logged |

From the Astrology Dictionary: http://www.evolvingdoor.ca/glossary/glossary_r.htm This aspect configuration is called a Rosetta by astrologers Sally Fisher and Linda Shelnutt and called a Trapeze by Bruno and Louise Huber in their aspect patterns book. This is a somewhat rare and very complex configuration in the energy dynamics it generates. There is tension and conflict between the planets joined by the square aspects (the red lines in the diagram). There is agreement and cooperation between the planets joined by the trine and sextile aspect (blue lines). And there is stress, adjustment and paradox between the planets joined by the quincunx aspects (green lines). There is a dynamic that happens between these planets that is similar to the concepts of "triangulation" and "scapegoating" in psychology and relationships. Person A has a problem with person B. But instead of talking to B about it, A goes to person C and complains. C takes sides with A against B, which just fuels the conflict between A and B, and now B has two enemies instead of just one. All four planets in this configuration have both "enemies" and "allies," and play the same role in relation to other planets. The net effect of this is that the planetary energies tend to go around in circles, each trying to "win the argument" and finding it very hard to let go of the battle with its "enemies." At its worst, this figure can keep problems going in circles indefinitely. Automatic reactions of frustration, anger, resentment, injustice and determination can just fuel the fire. The issues and problems in this dynamic could potentially become obsessions that are hard to let go of. At its best, this configuration can increase awareness and philosophical understanding. It can strengthen the ability to tolerate paradox, ambiguity and problems where there isn't a clear solution. Awareness can stop the vicious cycle by showing you a path beyond your automatic reactions. Then it's up to you to make conscious, mindful choices that will move you along that path. See Bruno and Louise Huber's book Aspect Pattern Astrology for excellent information about aspect configurations. IP: Logged |

Grand Cross ~> you're relying on orb of over 9 degrees between the Sun and Neptune. IP: Logged |

Blue moon, Thanks for your replies. I read all I could about the trapeze/rosetta, though there isn't a lot of information available, at least on the web (my only resource at this moment). As for the grand cross, I don't think it is a perfect example, given that the orb between sun and neptune is so great. I think after looking at friend's charts and other family members and rarely finding any configurations to speak of, it was interesting to find one so rare in my sister's chart and another rare one in my brother's chart (though obviously an imperfect one). It definitely led me to do more research on the topic though. Thanks again for your replies. IP: Logged |
