Hi,Goodness, sorry I made a mess of my heading, how can I correct that sentence? Ok, let me clarify what I mean. I think we all agree that certain houses like the 5th, the 7th or 8th house are considered classic 'romantic' houses. However, by contrast the 3rd or 11th house are considered more neutral or platonic in the context of a synastry reading. But what happens if in your natal chart the ruler of your Descendant/7th house happens to fall in one of these 'platonic' houses like the 3rd or the 11th? Do they become more romantic houses for you, so if someone elses planets fall into your 3rd/11th it wouldnt be a platonic house overlay, but quite romantic because the planet person would fulfill some of your DC characteristics? Do any of you have your 7th house ruler in the 11th or the 3rd (for instance) and how does it feel if someone else puts their planets there? Is it a particularly romantic house for you? Many thanks! Well, my 7th house ruler (Venus) falls in my 1st house. I wouldn't consider my 1st house romantic but rather self-centered and insecure in Venus matters.

I'm not English, I meant 'romantic' in the sense 'relationship houses' or promoting attraction.IP: Logged |

anna, I think I just got this link from another thread here in LL. It seems to touch upon and/or dance around your question... so it may be a help to your thought process... or it may be what started you on this thought process if you already checked the link on the other thread... I've had it on a tab since last night and I don't remember where I got it. http://home.earthlink.net/~astrology/who_am_i_to_you.htm

Thanks, Mystic Melody for that link! I had already seen it and thought it was very interesting. But my question is a bit different from what is being described there. But let me use that link to clarify furher what I'm interested in. The article uses the general meaning of houses. So if your ascendant ruler falls in my 5th house, I will see you in a romantic light. But if my ascendant ruler falls in your 11th house, you will see me more in platonic terms. My question is, to use the example above, what happens if my ascendant ruler may fall in YOUR 11th house, but YOUR Descendant ruler happens to sit in YOUR 11th house in your natal chart. Would you still see me in a platonic light, as a friend, or would your perception of me be influenced by the fact that your DC ruler sits in your 11th house. So there is a link between your relationship house and your 11th house. Hence, your 11th house is also in a way a relationship house and it may feel very attractive to the 11th house person and in no way platonic, if someone puts their personal planets there. So everyone who has their 7th house ruler in one of the more neutral houses like the 3rd, have you noticed that this house plays a big part in your major attractions? So the people you have been strongly attracted to always put some of their personal planets there ? IP: Logged |

My husband's 7th house ruler, Neptune, falls on the cusp of the 2nd and the 3rd house. The 7th is empty. My Ascendant falls in his 2nd house, 2 degrees in Conjunction from Neptune. IP: Logged |

Yeah it would add romantic tones to that house since the 7th house ruler is in it and any planet in it would be (within orb) conjunction to it. I actually don't think orbs matter that much.Never thought of that! Good job! IP: Logged |

It must. If the ruler of your DC falls in an "unromantic" house, eg 3rd, then that is where you express your DC/partnership/relationship needs. So for the third, you need to express your need or happiness in a relationship through 3rd house matters such as communicating, short trips etc. In that way, it becomes "romantic" and important to you. So, if the ruler of your descendant is in a traditionally unromantic house such as the 11th or 3rd, that house becomes "romantic", which in turn renders your 7th house unromantic. Is that right?IP: Logged |

Disagree. The DC will always be a compass in what you look for in a relationship. The DC and planets in the 7th shows what you are looking for in others (things that you don't see about yourself or that you reject in yourself). I'd say the house in which the DC ruler is placed shows where you use your 7th house energies. Another example. I have Libra DC. My Venus in Sag and 9th. I seek refined, sophisticated, considerate, diplomatic, elegant men or people. I use my Venereal qualities to attract people like this or find myself in situations involving Sag and 9th. I might use humour, philosophy, warmth and adventure to attract others. I should be looking for love in 9th house arenas - overseas, universities etc. EDIT - the extension of Venus being ruler of my DC also might mean extra qualities I look for in others. IP: Logged |

yingang, no, the 7th house will still be the 7th house. But with your 7th house and 11th house linked, you would react with more attraction to people whose planets fall in your 11th house than people where in the natal chart theres isnt a connetion between 11th and 7th hosue. At least I assume the 11th house is affected by the link, really curious to hear more about people's experiences in that respect. Annaf - good question. Honestly, I don't think I can think of anyone close to me that has put their planets in their 9th. for example, I tend to have a lot problems for example with Sag girls, probably caused by my Mars in Gem. I can't really say for myself Annaf. IP: Logged |

Ok, let's see if I'm understanding this correctly (newbie here):1) The DC represents the qualities you subconsciously/consciously look for in a partner because these are the qualities that you are missing in yourself 2) Any planets of your partner's that fall in your 7th house will light up 7th house issues for you, at least to certain degree. If your DC ruler is in the 7th house and there's conjunction between your ruler and your partner's planets, the attraction will be even greater. 3) However, if your DC ruler falls in an unromantic house, it gives that house a romantic overtone; for eg. if your DC ruler falls in the 11th house, friendship or having similar goals/aspirations with your partner will be very important for you. Also, if you have an important placement in the 7th house that is linked to the 11th (such as having Moon in Aquarius in 7th), the 11th house becomes even more romantic. IP: Logged |

yinyang,"Also, if you have an important placement in the 7th house that is linked to the 11th (such as having Moon in Aquarius in 7th), the 11th house becomes even more romantic." Well maybe that could be as well. But that'S not waht I meant. All I meant to say was that if your 7th house ruler falls in your natal 11th house, your 11th house ruler will get a romantic overtone. So if in a synastry chart someone elses planets fall in YOUR 11th house, you might perceive them as relationship material.

Well being on the other side of this, H7 ruler falls in my 5th, and not only that but conjuncts the 5th house cusp and is also conjunct my H5 Vertex, and I can't say i have any attraction to that sign at all, not to mention someone putting their planets there.. I've always thought that was odd.EDIT: I'll add though that i like when their sun and personal planets and asc and jupiter [why not their whole chart ] fall in the house that corresponds to my DSC sign. DSC Aquarius, and all of the men ive dated/been engaged to have had asc, sun, moon, merc, venus, mars or jupiter in my H11, the house that would correspond to aquarius. Does that sort of fit in with what you're looking for? IP: Logged |

I have it !7th house - aries (empty) 11th house = leo with Mars I think I flert with people I shouldn't (acupunturist, for example), or better yet, well, sometimes flerting, but not really. In general, I assess the material. Every new person of the opposite sex I meet. How hot they are, I assess them as men (character, attitude, looks, etc), and in case their age is compatible with mine I do wonder if they are relationship material, but Im almost never interested in them. But my ascendant is libra, I thought it could have something to do with it. Or maybe everybody does it. having said that, I never had a real relationship. Im not normal at all. IP: Logged |

The ruler of my 7th house is Venus (Taurus) and my Venus happens to be in my 10th house (in Virgo)... So far my 'relationships' have been with guys from work. I think Venus in the 10th also has something to do with status, but I'm not sure how exactly that plays out for me. Could be status as in 'one's place (in a group/ society) or status as in one's circumstances... I never really thought about the 7th house ruler in this way...all of this makes me think that all of my relationships will come through work. And the only 'planet' I have in the 7th house is Chiron ------------------ Leo with Scorpio Rising and Moon in Taurus IP: Logged |

I share the same aspect. My love life has always been challenging. I would have thought the 7th house ruler would enjoy the 5th house!!! IP: Logged |

My 7th house ruler is in my 5th house too, and I don't feel like it makes a huge difference except that I do seem to have more attraction to Mercurial types than is normal. By that I mean that it's very rare for me to be attracted to someone who isn't a Gemini, perhaps a Virgo, or at least with a Sun-Mercury conjunction. Two crushes who are NOT Gemini's did however have their name asteroids in Gemini in my chart.Mr Gem's 7th house ruler (Venus) is in his 2nd house conjunct Saturn, which is hardly a very romantic placement. But my Venus is conjunct his, and I do think our relationship is expressed through 2nd house matters a lot. There is a lot of discussion about money and financial security, buying a house, etc. IP: Logged |

My 7th house ruler is Uranus which is in my 2nd house. I don't really know where the romance is with that placement, because I've never been romatically involved with a Taurus man...IP: Logged |
