Hi there!!

The people on this board have been so helpful when they could, and someone told me about astro.com
I think a lot of the really well studied people here refer to it often. I have been using it at no cost. I have made a purchase of one of their services and it was under 15US. They have some good charts. It doesn't cover ALL aspects of a composite chart, but check it out! It really helped me.

Nice to meet you!!!

Thanks for sharing. If you know, does this relationship seem to blow hot and cold? Or if you know, what kind of relationship is this? Interesting to know a little more facts sometimes, and then learn by sort of a reverse process at the same time... not a necessary process in order to get a response, but just interesting to me.

Thanks.

Have you tried Linda's book 'Relationship Signs?' It has some very good insight into interpreting your own composite chart.

dear gloria,

thanks for your reply! and yes, i agree that it's good to have a background sometimes. you have more insight that way.

the relationship is between myself and my friend/lover. he's 7 years younger than me, and he just finished with college (he graduated in june), and now he's in germany on an internship that will last until the end of the year. i've known him for a year and a half now, and we became involved with each other right away (there were definitely sparks), but we didn't become sexually active until we'd known each other for 6 months. when we're together, it is very very good, and when we're apart i miss him very much but am forced to kind of detach myself a little so i don't feel so sad. so there is kind of a hot and cold aspect to the relationship. we really enjoy each other's company, and he makes me feel really good (there's a high energy exchange between us, but in a good way - mars in synastry aspects?), and i'm pretty sure the feelings are mutual (we don't discuss specifics, i think both of us are more comfortable just letting things be at this point). he puts me on a pedastal sometimes (jupiter aspects in synastry? my neptune in his first house? my moon conjunct his neptune? my mercury trine his neptune? my venus sextile his neptune?) which i find sweet...but he's still enough of a mental heavyweight to interest me - that's very important to me. i feel sometimes the pull in my gut with him, and i swear i don't think i've ever felt that before (pluto contacting the personal planets in synastry? my pluto is exactly conjunct his sun and my AC is conjunct his pluto...also, my venus trines his pluto). i do feel safe and wonderful with him, and i know he really cares about me and adores being around me. as far as whether things will get more serious when he gets back from germany, that remains to be seen. i know we will continue a solid friendship if nothing else...and i can't fathom the attraction i/we feel not surfacing again (i swear, he's like an electrical storm to me). but we'll see. gotta remain level-headed, right?

oh! i went to the library this weekend and checked out some books. in it, i read something about the houses your major planets are in and their corresponding signs being important. like, for instance...i'm a pisces sun in the 6th house, which is associated with virgo - his sun sign. the book i read indicated that would mean i'm a pisces with a virgo subtone (and i do identify with virgo more than your typical pisces). is this good? my moon sign is sagittarius placed in the 3rd house, which is associated with gemini - his moon sign. is that also good?

composite charts kind of confuse me, though. i think i have a slight handle on some of the aspects we share, but i am only one step above a novice, to be sure.

i really appreciate you taking the time. i have to tell you, i adore this board. it's fantastic. you guys are the best.

take care.

Wow. Your Neptune aspects sound delightful, and my jaw fell when I read about your Sun & Moon with their respective Houses, making those interesting connections with each other's. Really cool.

I'm glad you are also learning on your own, because in the end, it will be your own intuition guiding you as you learn more and more.

I have a Libra Sun in the 5th. Honestly? I've not had many Leo boyfriends at all, nor do I find any success there, probably due to other influences in my Chart which when combined all together, influences my experience. But friendships with other girls who are Leo seem to happen more often, but they are not completely comfortable to me. And I think maybe my other Leo influences in my chart sort of "overrule" that House placement, so it almost becomes two Leo girls trying to get along.

I'm just now beginning to grasp my Moon's House placement, and how this works. I have a Cancer Moon in the 3rd. It's kind of a contradiction because the Cancer side is self-protective and inward, the 3rd House ruled by Gemini/Mercury is outward and communicative. But then I realized how important it has been for me to express (3rd House) my feelings (Cancer) accurately throughout my life. And even if it does not get to the point where I'm actually shouting from the rooftops, the 3rd ruled by Gemini/Mercury also has to do with the way you put facts together, sort of your "thinking style". Therefore, it has been extremely important for me to UNDERSTAND my feelings because with a Moon in Cancer, feelings can overwhelm the intellect. I have to not only know WHAT I'm feeling, but WHY.

There have been some threads or posts here about the Sun's House placement indicating the type of person you are attracted to, and for the most part, I believe that to be true, although it's not a perfect concept in my case. But I still strongly consider it when looking at other charts. Just have to remember to take the Chart as a whole.

The reason I asked if your relationship ran hot and cold was because of the Composite having a Cancer/Capricorn aspect to it, and I'm constantly looking at anything having to do with this particular opposition of energies. The Cancer side wants to embrace and be feely-mushy. The Cap side wants to be politically correct and objective.

hey gloria,

i have to apologize for this reply in advance...i know it's off my original topic but i got excited when i read your post to me and i immediately thought of things i wanted to say to you (my darn mercury in aries, i suppose - i swear, sometimes i'm like an overexcited child with ADD)!

first off, i have to say i am in agreement with you about that 3rd house moon! like i mentioned, i have that, too...and i have to say, that gemini influence is strong in me (i'm just coming to terms with it...reading up on astrology almost obsessively as i have been for the past 6 months or so has really given me insight to some of my character and motivations). i also have a 3rd house mars (in capricorn). and as far as that sun in the 6th house of virgo, i just noticed i have also mercury in the 6th house (in aries) and chiron in the 6th house (also in aries). so hmm, maybe that's why that influence is strongly felt in my life...this is so fun!

so, i was reading this other book i got from the library last night, skimming through and taking everything that seemed pertinent to me (if ya want the name of the book i'll bring it in to work tomorrow and give it to you), and it said something very interesting about aspects. the author mentioned he had a mercury square neptune aspect (natally), but with something like a 7 or 8 degree orb, and he said that this apsect shouldn't normally have been something he felt the influence of very much at all. however, he said that through the practice of chart synthesis, we discover this aspect greatly affects him because his own mercury is placed in the 12th house (neptune's house) and his neptune is placed in the 3rd house (mercury's natural house), and so that emphasized that aspect! so your 5th house sun might be, like you said, overshadowed by other aspects/house placements taking precedence over that placement...the author talks more about other chart focalizers that i found interesting as well, like (the obvious) ruling planet (which i think is the planet that rules your AC - in my case i'm a libra AC ruled by venus), and something else less obvious, any planets that conjunct the AC. in my case that's uranus. which explains to me why i've been involved with several aquarians, either through friendship (usually a very close one) or romantic/sexual relationship. the author also talks about midpoints being important, too, though i'm less clear on how so. my sun/moon midpoint is aquarius. our of curiousity, what's yours? do you feel like it's a big factor in your life? i feel like aquarius is in mine, but in addition to the sun/moon midpoint, and uranus conjuncting my AC exactly, i also have venus and north node in aquarius, so i don't know. my conflict that i've been struggling with as of late is relationships that follow a strong aquarian bent, either by me being attracted to one or one with major aquarian influences, or by me ACTING like an aquarian, detaching myself, wanting space and all that...all the while really NEEDING someone who's more dependable and solid and emotional (i think i have a pisces singleton sun, though im not sure). i'm really just a big old mess sometimes.

the cancer/capricorn opposition is an interestingly odd one, as well...i do have my IC in capricorn and my MC in cancer. i dont know how i feel that in me, however. as far as my relationship with mr. virgo goes...i think one of the things i like about it so far is its reserve, but also its tenderness. i am ATTRACTED to that, in a big way! it's been the thing that's kept me coming back for more...you know with all that aquarius and mars in capricorn and 3rd house influence in me that's what i am really drawn to, but with my piscean sun i really do need tenderness and emotionality, though i'll swear up and down i dont NEED it, if you catch me on the right (or wrong) day. so the slow, chaste, and kind of reserved pace our relationship moves at is appealing to me, but the tenderness underneath soothes me.

i thought maybe the hot/cold thing could come from (in the composite chart) the AC being exactly conjunct uranus. we both share this aspect natally as well. i think this is supposed to indicate instant attraction and even love at first sight, though it's also supposed to indicate instability at times. we do have a sun conjunct venus in the composite chart...i think this is also supposed to be good.

anyways, thanks SO much. i love reading about this stuff and hearing what other people have to say...it's so enlightening, and i just want to learn all i can (sagittarian moon - i'm a perpetual student).

take care,
chrissy

Well Crissy -

You're doing quite well putting together all these astrological lessons. Thanks for sharing that.

OK - so your Composite also has symetry and balance to it, and so that Cancer/Cap opposition is being softened by two other points, a Moon in Pisces across from the optimistic Jupiter in Libra, and the the Pluto in Libra. So you probably feel close to each other even if you are not physically together. It's a nice stabilizer and seems to be activated here.

We've talked about aspects to Asc's here many times and yes, that in itself will give you an Aquarian flair, without even considering the additional aspects you have.

It IS fun, isn't it?

hey there gloria,

thanks for the insights! you're right, we do maintain a closeness, even though he's in another country. we only get to talk once a week, but it always feels nice and comfortable and pick-up-right-where-we-left-off when we do chat. he has lots of planets in scorpio (venus, mars, uranus) plus his AC is in scorpio, so i attributed our closeness to the water connection between us (my sun = pisces).

oh yea, last night i went out and bought a book on composite charts so i could learn more...
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1567187161/102-6068034-7142524?v=glance

and i haveta say, i have only rifled through it, but it looks very good! it has what each of the planets in all of the signs in a composite would mean pertaining to the relationship. then it has what each of the planets in the houses would mean, and then what all the major aspects between the 10 major planets mean (um, he just covers conjunctions, oppositions, squares, trines and sextiles)! it seemed spot-on for the major things in our composite chart. like, the sun in sagittarius meaning we always have adventures together and the moon in pisces making it an emotional affair and the ascendant in libra meaning people look at us as a couple and probably see the perfect, idealized match. it says lots more, but that's just a brief overview.

if you want any info from it, feel free to let me know and i'll type it out for you!

anyone else is free to ask, too...it's prolly not completely legal, but i figure i'm just pretty much plugging the book...it appears to have a wealth of information.

thanks again,
chrissy

That book sounds great. My Composite with my Libra friend is too good to be true. It blows me away just thinking about it.

See if the book says anything about the Composite Asc in Pisces. Thanks!

no problem, gloria!

(i have that van morrison song 'gloria' stuck in my head right now - my boss LOVES to play van morrison..)

COMPOSITE PISCES ASCENDANT
this relationship has a natural camouflage that can be greatly useful or terribly frustrating, depending on the situation. it leads you both to a heightened awareness of the feelings of those around you and each other. it can also lead to your being totally ignored, even when you want to be heard. the problem is one of communication - what you need to communicate is in the realm of feelings. words are often insufficient, particularly when they are directed towards uncomprehending ears. nevertheless, because of just this, you will be looked at together (as you may not be separately) as non-threatening and sympathetic, and so will you will be privy to much more information than you might otherwise have access to. the problem lies in utilizing your camouflage efficiently, and that may have to be done by one of you at a time, depending on your stand-alone styles and personalities. because you really do appear to blend together so thoroughly as a relationship, it will be wise to spend quality time alone as well as with each other, so you don't lose touch with your individuality and so that others dont lose sight of you as an individual as well.

hope that helps! what's your comp. sun/moon? the book has some good info there, too.

take care,

Hmmmm ... I'm gonna have to keep all that in mind and let it sink in. Reread it. And let more sink in.

Don't worry about including more on this. The Asc was the thing I wanted to know most abount in this Composite. I appreciate your offer. I'm sure others will be curious to know about their Composites as well. Thank you.

So how do you like the book so far?

PS: That's my fav "Gloria" song, and I love the version Jimi Hendrix did.

gloria,

i like it ok (the book)...it does have a lot of information. the sections on the aspects are beefy, and the planets in signs section is helpful, too. it's helped me to see the planets in the signs in a composite in a different way than in the natal chart, so now i feel i have a better understanding. like for instance, the composite ascendant is about how the relationship looks to other people. the composite sun is the main energy, and comp. moon is about the emotional energy. now my comp. sun with mr. virgo makes more sense to me - it's in sagittarius and therefor means the relationship has lots of energy, and we'll enjoy learning together. stuff like that. the comp. moon in pisces adds that emotional tenderness, and so on. each planet is more a description of how the energy it represents mainifests itself in the relationship...that's what i learned! it's simple but i wasn't all that clear on that before.

thanks again,

Well - that's really cool. Isn't it?

Well, if no one else has a request, I'll try one more. What does it say about Composite Jupiter in Aries in the 2nd House. Does it say anything about Chiron?

Thanks a billion.

gloria,

no problem! consider it an early birthday present. (i'm guessing no one else is really reading this thread, and i've contemplated posting a separate thread where i offer to give info from the book - 'cause i want to share, but i'm a little scared at getting deluged and not being able to give everyone what they want!)

COMPOSITE JUPITER IN THE SECOND HOUSE
you are likely to find much opportunity for growth and development in the most elemental, physical aspects of life. together you are blessed by an inspired sense of where to make, develop, and spend money, and your abilities to achieve here will only be limited by your initial resources. you will think big, not small, so the more you have to work with the better things will go for you. you do not like to piddle around. given time, you will go from the greater to the smaller. although there is a possibility for excessive materialism here, there is also the potential for greater spiritual understanding of the proper handling of material things - after all, you can't learn to use it right until you've got it. generousity will likely come natually, but you do need to keep it focused and give in ways that will cause others to utilize it and not just waste it. primarily, the one thing to be careful of, as always with eager and ebullient (gotta love this guy for his use of words like ebullient!) jupiter, is to keep things under control and not let your financial situation snowball beyond your ability to keep on top. although this will be a fun personal relationship, one where the physical passions can run very high, it is ideal for doing business together as well, particular in a bull market (huh?), where the sky will be the limit as one good investment leads to another.

JUPITER IN ARIES
your relationship has a particularly rapid style of growth. changes in the relationship's development, when they occur, happen rather suddenly and may be difficult to keep up with. that should not become a source of worry, however, because you will find that growth spurts finish as quickly as they begin. you both will have some time to catch up before it begins all over again. this kind of quick pickup, followed by an equally swift slowdown, will also characterize the way you two go about developing anything that is significantly new in the relationship or in its outside involvements. when a fabulous new scheme dawns, you will rush into it with a high degree of enthusiasm and intensity and devote all your efforts to it. this kind of high burn level will rapidly overtax your internal interest and resources, and you will tend to lose interest or energy for the effort just as quickly. although you enter with a bang, if you are not careful you will exit with a whimper - the victims of unevenly distributed, albeit well-motivated enthusiasm. it might be well to try to damp that initial enthusiasm (cant he find a different word for enthusiasm already?) in the interest of stretching out your stamina. this will have the extra benefit of making you take a second look at what you are getting into, because leaping without looking is another characteristic of this jupiter position. when you're both sure (individually as well as jointly) that you want to go ahead, plan an overview so youll know for sure how much commitment it requires to complete, then turn on the fire and throw yourselves into it with the confidence that it will likely be a success.

there ya go!

Thanks Chrissy -

I have a Composite with Mr. L. which would probably make any astrologists jaw drop. It still makes mine drop. We'll see.

Our Composite NN is in Virgo in the 7th, don't know if you have info on that, but getting into the aspects and stuff right now is not that great an interest to me right now. I'd be overanalyzing at this point.

Yeah, if you offer people info from the book, be ready! It can be fun though.

Thanks again.

dear gloria,

yep, i do...the book doesnt include info on north/south nodes in the signs but it does have info on the nodes in the hosues and in aspect.

NORTH NODE IN THE 7TH HOUSE
the moon's north & south nodes are associated with giving and receiving, with commitment and reward, not always of your own making but more like situations the universe has just laid on you gratis. in this case, what has been laid on you is each other, and the lesson of the relationship is ultimately to make it work and tolearn how to be together and cooperate. what it means most of all is establishing where one leaves off and the other takes over, and making sure that dividing line is in the middle and not too close for comfort for either of you. although you may agree on the goal of equality, agreeing on what actually comprises it and then implementing that can be a challenge and sometimes a conflict. its rewards are tangible, but not material, and well worth the effort. by establishing your boundaries with each other, you also gain a surer idea of what goes to make up yourselves, and a stronger sense of individuality will energe that can inly reinforce you intellectually and emotionally and strengthen the relationship even further. by knowing each other, you better know yourselves and participate in all the obvious benefits that accrue. you may feel a certain fate about being together for this reason, since you both obviously have so much to gain from each other and never would have known had you not run into each other.

if you dont mind me asking, what other stuff about the composite is good (besides the above, which sounds VERY good)?

Thanks again Chrissy!

As for other stuff, for starters the Composite also has -

* Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Libra in the 8th.

* Uranus in Libra in 7th.

* Venus, Mars, Pluto & NN in Virgo in the 7th as well.

* Saturn in Scorpio in the 8th

* Neptune in Scorpio in the 9th.

Someone posted here that a Composite is better when the planets are sort of grouped together as opposed to completely splayed out all over the Wheel.

A few Aspects -

* Sun & Moon Conjunct.

* Venus & NN Conjunct.

* Mercury & Pluto Conjunct.

* Moon & Mars Sextile.

* Sun & NN Sextile.

Just to name a few.

The relationship feels like a perfect fit to my Natal chart because everything in the Composite except Jupiter is in Virgo, Libra & Scorpio, in the 7th, 8th & 9th Houses. I'm a Libra with Venus & Pluto in Virgo, and Merc, Mars, & Neptune in Scorpio.

My Jupiter & Saturn in Capricorn are in the 9th. To me it feels perfectly perfect.

For him? Well, he's got -

* 4 Planets plus his NN & MC in Libra in his Natal.

* 4 Planets & the NN in his 9th House.

* Mars & Jupiter in his 7th House.

* Natal Saturn is in his 8th, just like the Composite Saturn.

* His Neptune is in Sag, and Neptune in Composite is in the 9th House.

I would think it would feel comfortable for him too. Sometimes I think that's the problem - in the sense that he doesn't feel properly prepared for it, or it's better than anything he's had and it scares him.

Scares me too!

wow, those are some fantastic aspects/placements! i'm checking over a few of them now in my book, will post anything that looks really good later on today when i'm a little less busy at work (i'm goofing off as it is right now, i really should be attending to a deadline). those planet placements look very interesting...so it's supposed to be good if they're grouped, huh? in my comp. with mr. virgo, i guess the planets are kind of grouped. sun and venus in the 3rd. moon in 5th. mercury & saturn in the 9th. mars & neptune in 2nd. jupiter, uranus & pluto in the 12th. would you call that grouped? it's not really grouped as tightly as yours are, so i don't know. the overall feel is nice to both of us i think, because there's a 3rd house gemini feel (which he prolly likes 'cause his moon's in gemini) and a 9th house sagittarius feel (which is nice for me because my moon's in sagittarius). there's also a 12th house vibe that works for both of us, because i have my singleton sun in pisces and he has venus, mars & uranus in his 12th house natally. also, i think venus being in capricorn in the comp. is nice for both of us - for him because he has sun, mercury & saturn in his 10th house natally and i have mars in capricorn. i don't know, it sure does feel awfully good, though!

i did just skim over something in the composite book that might be of interest to you...it indicated the sun/moon conjunction you share in the comp. might be overwhelming at times. it's good, but it also 'will be very difficult to get under control because the relationship has such momentum that it will keep going even when both of you say no'.

can i ask you something? what do you think about davison charts, if anything at all? do you think they're better than composites? or about the same? in my davison chart with mr. virgo (i love calling him that, it fits him just so), i have sun, moon & mercury in the 8th, moon & jupiter in the 11th, mars & neptune in the 7th. i have to say i've looked at the composite more, so i feel more comfortable saying that it fits. i dont know about the davison, but i did do something bob marks' site suggests - i ran each of our natal charts with the davison of our relationship, and then looked at the aspects, which are supposed to describe how each of us IS in the relationship, or how we're affected by it. my aspects and his aspects make sense, i think. mine indicate im intensely affected, with sun conjunct moon, sun conjunct mercury, sun conjunct DC, moon conjunct mercury, moon conjunct DC, venus conjunct jupiter, venus conjunct DC...it goes on! and his indicate...well, im less sure. major aspects are: sun conj. mercury, mars, & uranus. sun square saturn. sun loosely conjunct NN. moon conjunct SN. moon conjunct chiron. venus conjunct neptune. venus trine saturn & chiron. these are mostly good, i guess, but the moon is opposite uranus, which tells me he fluctuates on his feelings for me. i think. i dont know...he doesnt really act like it. i dont know - have you done a chart/charts like this before? what have been your findings?

p.s. more later, on those comp. aspects you mentioned.

It was someone else here who said that about the planets being grouped, so I have no idea, maybe they'll reply to you.

As for the Davison and others, I tried a couple and didn't particularly feel comfortable with them, but maybe you can get into it more than I did.

dear gloria,

here's the info i promised...

SUN IN 8TH HOUSE
this relationship can have a kind of magnetism that is quite palpable and can draw you into it even when there seems to be no exterior reason to pursue it. as a love relationship it will be very physical and will need to be enjoyed, developed, and varied in order to keep the relationship fresh. in exterior affairs, it may be a very good fit for managing resources, particularly where other people's stakes are within your control and management. a special love and respect for what is old and time-tested, a reverence for antiquity and the greatness of the past and those who created it, may suffuse the realtionship, at times giving you a sense of deja vu about each other and the situations in which you find yourselves. at almost any level, the feeling will be that this is no lightweight affair, even if it is not a permanent relationship. something about it is very important to each of you and its function will be to pull you in deeper into yourselves and your life experience than you might have ordinarily chosen to go alone. you will not be the same for this meeting, and you both will be the wiser (and hopefully the bestter and happier) for the understandings brought on by what may have been a chance encounter, but a fated one. the very feeling that there is more going on here than meets the eye will be an eye opener itself, and this realtionship can be the door into new worlds of inner exploration if you have the opportunity and the patience to allow it to be.
