According to the Canadian study, one in two Canadians can be considered a gamer, having actively played video games within the past month. The average age of a gamer is 40, and half are women.
Half the population is considered a "gamer"?
And the average age is 40?
So, anyone who "actively" (whatever that means) played a video game,
maybe at an arcade or whatever, at least once in the past month...
Of course its going to be a staggering number!
Half the population!
I dont think they are talking about the hard-core gamers here, Xodian.
The other half of the population probably contains
quite a few homeless and dirt poor people
who cant even afford a video game system.
Of course those people are not big earners,
and not likely to be more social or athletic.
Of course they bring the average way down.
As for "7 hrs a week"...
The people I've met who read video game magazines
and take this stuff seriously, spend closer to 7 hrs a day playing.
The stereotype exists for these people.
Not for grandpa who played one game at the arcade almost a month ago,
and who this bogus study nonetheless considers a "gamer".
