Sorry if this is in the wrong forum! Currently I am absolutely fascinated with Tarot Reading, so much so that I've decided to really dig deep into this, learn as much as I can, maybe become one myself. But how does one become a tarot reader? I do feel like im higly intuitive, but does one need something special about them?thats my chart if you see anything significant! http://s1136.photobucket.com/albums/n498/sc0rpioRising/?action=view¤t=me.gif IP: Logged |

HiI have an 8th house Sun so Occult was something I had to explore. Then I have a strong Neptune as well. You asked about "How" well there are no hard and fast rules as far I know. You should buy yourself a deck first, and start looking at the cards. One card a day or a question at a time. It will start coming naturally to you. One specific card will mean one specific feeling to you after a while and there you are. Tarot is just a medium of exploring your subconscious, you will find many other mediums and ways to enter the realms once you begin your journey. I think all of us has it in us, only few of us actually believe in ourselves. Just ordered my deck or cards, and a book to go with it to explain everything, I always jump ito the deep end, but I realy want to take it slow so I can be good at it, I mean be able to tap into that realm easily, I feel like I have it in me, this could just be the right medium for me, definately going to give it my best shot! I will be taking on what you said on board! Thank you!IP: Logged |

I would say just go casually about it. Do a couple readings on yourself. Like a 3 card past present future. Don't read about each card just yet. Look at the pictures and see what you feel. What each card personally means to you. You will find it comes easily and even if you already know the answer to something, it can help reflect your original thoughts/intuitions, giving you even more confirmation. quote: Originally posted by sc0rpioRising: Sorry if this is in the wrong forum! Just go for it. I started six years ago. Just randomly bought a deck and a book. Off and on, I picked it up, learned more. The most important thing I can say is don't always follow textbook examples of the card meanings. It's really important to build a connection/relationship with your deck. I pulled a card a day for almost a year and just tried to mimic/look for those qualities in people/myself during the day. After awhile, I had them down pat based on what they meant to me, and my cards, oh dear Jesus. They speak to me like a family member now. The card meaning may be off, but it's what it means to you that's important. Just try it! It takes practice, but it's a lot of fun I recommend Joan Bunning's "Learning the Tarot." It has GREAT exercises in the back to strengthen your intuition.IP: Logged |

You could also keep a journal to record new spreads as you make them up/find them and readings you do. I like Becca's idea of drawing one card a day. There are some AMAZING tarot blogs and forums online. If you find some that resonate with you I am sure they would be immensely helpful. Hold your cards and love them. Feel like they are yours and when you read you will feel a strong bond with them and feel more confident.IP: Logged |

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the advice.. I have something to ask.. something really freaky happened with my cards.I bought a pack and I didnt even open it, until I read the instructions in the book that came with it. The book is by Josephine Ellershaw, I brought these one because the cards were beautiful and really spoke to me. Anyway so her instructions were to keep a diary, as you guys pointed out, look at each card as write down what you feel. I did that for all the wands, and then was really tired so I just had a feel for all the cards, shuffled the cards slowly just by taking a block and putting it at the end of the pack. I did that about three times. Then I wrapped the cards and put them underneath my pillow, the book advised me to do that so I familiarise myself with the cards, and they receive my energy. I left them there for two nights, and no doubt both nights I dreamt about Tarot cards. The unsusal thing was, yesterday when I went through the pack again. all the cards were in order... I was shocked! I kept asking myself how was that possible! I was sure I has shuffled them!!! Has anyone else had any experience like this?? IP: Logged |

wow that is crazy... i have not had that experience. I have had cards "jump out." a death card one time, no joke. I have had cards slip out of the deck too. i put a reading away and the next day laid it out to try to figure it out one more time and a card would slip out from the deck to add to it n make sense. i dont use reversals but i did have one reversal for a reading one time. i have only been reading for about a week. sometimes readings are freakishly accurate so i mean i totally believe it...seems like u r really bonding with the cards. that is great..u really care a lot about learning so maybe it is that strong connection showing itself to you.IP: Logged |

ok Phew... I'm not the only one! I am trying really hard, when I work with the cards I really want to give 100% attention, I lock my room turn off my phone, that kinda thing! I think I might use this thread to post my experiences, and hopefully I can show some improvement! And maybe help other newbies too! : IP: Logged |

Congrats on ur new deck of tarot cards there have been many good posts on here already. I'm going to add to it.Become familiar with ur cards. I agree with what was already stated. Develop a relationship with ur deck. One thing I will point out is ur trying to study a whole suit in one night. Nope. Doesn't work like that. U can do as u like, but if I were u, I won't only study 1 or 2 a day. Again, look at each card and read the definition and eventually u get a feeling when u look at the card. U will get what it represents. Another thing to point out is its doesn't just revolve around which suit. U also need to consider what each number stands for. Such as 10's. A 10 in any suit stands for a culmination of something. Aces. Aces stand something new. A new relationship (ace of cups), a new opportunity or new life or venture (ace of wands). U need to familarize urself with the numbers and their symbolic meaning as well as the cards. This is ur most important step. Learn each card meaning. U can't interpret any reading I don't care how many cards u pull until u learn each cards. Someone stated this already but ima say it again. When a book gives u a definition, sometimes its not literally. U need to factor in the spread ur using. Some cards have more than one meaning. Doing a spread is like putting together a puzzle. Each card is just one puzzle piece. Its up to u to figure out what that final puzzle will look like when its all put together. Or ur painting a picture if u will. I would highly recommend u only start with 3 cards readings for like at least a month. There is the past, present future someone said. U can also just use 3 cards as a general reading. When u shuffle ur cards, stick to one question only. Focus on ONE thing. If u have too many questions in ur head, ur cards will respond to more than one and that can make it confusing to intpret them once u pull them. Be precise when u focus. When a card 'oops' falls out when u shuffle, read it. Someone else mentioned that too. Cards that jump out have a message for u. If its many cards, it may b difficult to interpret. Sometimes I get 2 cards that fall out. That's not too bad. But pay attention if one jumps out. Hope this helps if I think of anything else, I'll b back. IP: Logged |
