My father passed away 14 years ago. In my dreams, he never really "died", he just has been "away" the whole time. This has been a recurring theme in my dreams the past couple years. Like, the dream always has a different story of why he's not with us anymore. One dream, my brother and I were not supposed to know what "happened" to my Dad, he just isn't "here" anymore......like in the dream we were wondering if he had a second family or something. Then last night, in another dream, he had been taken away by a couple who "kidnapped" him and he was stuck with them forever.
Has anyone else experienced this with a loved one who has passed????

The only thing I can think, is that the Dream World is really the Spirit World, and there is no such thing as "death",.....so maybe I am trying to rationalize in my dreams why he's not here on earth with us anymore? Strange.

Hi Nephthys!

You are probably right. We could try to narrow it down a bit with a few questions:

How old were you at the time of his passing?

Were you present when he died?

Was this a sudden event, i.e. not expected?

If you were young, or not present, or if this was unexpected, then these dreams could reflect a kind of search by your subconscious for closure.

What do you think?

Aha! Finally a reply!

1. I was 25 years old at time of his passing

2. I was not present when he passed. I left the hospital at 2 a.m. and he passed at 4 a.m.

3. No, wasn't sudden he had cancer for many years

4. I'm not sure what I think, I go back and forth on theories

Nephthys I’m totally on board with the whole spiritual world angle, my father passed away 3 months ago (I may be biased here) He occupies my dreams all the time. Sometime they are comforting like he’s with me and others are very upsetting involving gruesome detail surrounding his death. I say spiritual angle because I have had very interesting experiences. Maybe its my mind trying to rationalize. I was with him when he passed away and I have dreams that he is still present just “away” I think the coolest dream was the one where I thought I was awake and he came to my room and put his hand on my forehead and said “Its okay… I’m okay…I’ll see you later” and then proceeded to walk through the wall. Spooky, but fascinating. I don’t know if his would relate to you, but I know the dreams intensify when I’m faced with things that I wish I could tell my dad. Just a thought.

Dear crazyaries,

Thank you for your reply. I'm so glad you've experienced the same thing too!

I'm sorry to hear your father passed so recently The first year for me, I thought about him constantly, and I dreamed about him constantly. In my dreams we would sit on a picnic bench in a forest and just talk and talk for hours. I used to tell people that I really felt like we were really together. Then I started attending Betty Bethard's lectures and bought her books, and she says that when you dreamed of someone who passed, you are actually with them. It is a real visit

It's been 14 years, and now in my dreams he is "away" like you said too.

The dream where you thought you were asleep and saw him in your room and then go to the wall, that was an actual visit. It is so cool and I'm so glad you got to experience that!

That's a cool thing, Nephthys. Our loved ones are never truly gone. I'm glad you can still spend time with your Dad.

Ya Nephthys sometimes they do truly feel like real visits and sometimes I think its my mind just processing events. The walking through the wall one was kinda scarey thou. I'm not too good with the spooky stuff. Sometimes I don't like the dreams thou they make me upset when I wake up

Hi Nephthys

There are probably times when it is your subconscious trying to adjust or compensate, but for the most part, I am inclined to believe that your father is visiting.

I still talk to my father from time to time in the Astral Realm.
