Note; I hope some of you afraid to post in GU will step up now as this is just an introduction of sorts to our candidates nothing to debate here, LOL!

Let's Meet Our Candidates

Joe Biden
Democrat from Delaware
Joe Biden is a U.S. Senator from Delaware, first elected in 1972. He was born in Scranton, Pa., in 1942 but now lives in Wilmington. He graduated from the University of Delaware and earned a law degree from Syracuse University. He made a brief run for president in 1988. Biden is married to Jill Tracy Jacobs Biden. He has three children. His first wife and a 13-month-old daughter were killed in an automobile accident in 1972.

Hillary Clinton
Democrat from New York
Hillary Clinton is a U.S. Senator from New York, first elected in 2000. She previously served as First Lady when her husband, Bill Clinton, served two terms as president. She was born in Chicago in 1947, graduated from Wellesley College and earned a law degree at Yale Law School. She and her husband have one daughter.

Chris Dodd
Democrat from Connecticut
Chris Dodd is U.S. Senator from Connecticut, a post he has held since 1980. His father, Thomas, also served in the U.S. Senate. He previously served in the U.S. House and was in the Peace Corps. Dodd was born in Connecticut in 1944, graduated from Providence College and earned a law degree from the University of Louisville. Dodd is married to Jackie Marie Clegg. They have two children.

John Edwards
Democrat from North Carolina
John Edwards is a former U.S. senator from North Carolina who was John Kerry's running mate in 2004. A personal injury attorney, Edwards was born in South Carolina in 1953 and now lives in Chapel Hill, N.C. He graduated from North Carolina State University and earned a law degree from the University of North Carolina Law School. He is married to Elizabeth Edwards, who has been diagnosed with cancer. They have three children; a fourth was killed in an auto accident.

Mike Gravel
Democrat from Alaska
Mike Gravel served as a U.S. Senator from Alaska from 1969 to 1981. He previously served in the Alaska House of Representatives. He graduated from Columbia University. He was born in Springfield, Mass. in 1930. He and his wife Whitney have two children.

Dennis Kucinich
Democrat from Ohio
Dennis Kucinich was elected to Congress in 1996. He previously served as a member of the city council and as mayor in Cleveland, the city where he was born in 1946. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Case Western University. He has been married since 2005 to Elizabeth Harper. He was married twice before and has one child.

Barack Obama
Democrat from Illinois
Barack Obama is a U.S. Senator from Illinois. He was born in in 1961 in Hawaii, where his parents met as students at the University fo Hawaii. His father is from Kenya and his mother is from Kansas. He graduated from Columbia University and received his law degree from Harvard Law School. He previously served in the state Senate and was an instructor at the University of Chicago Law School. He and his wife, Michelle, have two daughters.

Bill Richardson
Democrat from New Mexico
Gov. Bill Richardson is the governor of New Mexico, elected to that job in 2002. He was born in Pasadena, Calif. in 1947 and spent his youth in Mexico City and Massachusetts. He graduated from Tufts University. He was elected to Congress from New Mexico in 1982 and held the seat until joining the Clinton administration in 1997. He served as ambassador to the United Nations and later became Clinton's Secretary of Energy. Richardson and his wife, Barbara Flavin Richardson, have no children.

Sam Brownback
Republican from Kansas
Sam Brownback is a U.S. Senator from Kansas, elected to that job in 1996. He previously served one term in the U.S. House and also was the state agriculture commissioner. He graduated from Kansas State University and earned a law degree from the University of Kansas. He was born in Garnett, Kansas in 1956. He and his wife, Mary, have five children.

Rudy Giuliani
Republican from New York
Rudy Giuliani is the former mayor of New York City. He was born in Brooklyn in 1944 and previously served as a federal prosecutor, as well as an associate Attorney General under President Reagan. He graduated from Manhattan College and earned a law degree from New York University Law School. He has been married since 2003 to Judith Nathan and was married twice before. He has two children, Andrew and Caroline.

Mike Huckabee
Republican from Arkansas
Mike Huckabee served as governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. He was born in Hope, Ark. in 1955. He graduated from Ouachita Baptist University near Little Rock. He has worked as a Baptist minister. He and his wife Janet McCain have three chilren.

Republican from California
Duncan Hunter is a congressman from California, first elected to the post in 1980. He was born in California in 1948 and went to Western State University for undergraduate and law degrees. He served in Vietnam and practiced law before running for Congress. He is married and has two children.

John McCain
Republican from Arizona
McCain is a U.S. Senator from Arizona, a post he has held since 1986. He previously served two terms in the U.S. House. McCain is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and spent his career in the military, as his father did. He was a combat pilot in Vietnam who was shot down and spent 5 1/2 years as a prisonor of war. He was born in 1936 in Panama. He and his wife, Cindy, have four children together. McCain also has three children from his first marriage.

Ron Paul
Republican from Texas
Ron Paul is a Texas physician who is in his second stint in Congress. He was in the House from 1977 to 1985, and was the Libertarian Party nominee for president in 1988. He was elected again to Congress in 1996 as a Republican. He was born in Pittsburgh in 1935, graduated from Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine. He and his wife Carol have five children.

Mitt Romney
Republican from Massachusetts
Mitt Romney served a single term as governor of Massachusetts, elected to that post in 2002. He graduated from Brigham Young University and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a law degree from Harvard Law School. He was born in Detroit in 1947 and now lives in Massachusetts. His father was governor of Michigan and made an unsuccessful run for president in 1968. Romney has worked as a turn-around expert for private companies, including Staples and Dominos Pizza, and in 2002 took over managment of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and turned the scandal-plagued games into a success. Romney and his wife, Ann, have five sons.

Tom Tancredo
Republican from Colorado
Tancredo is a congressman from Colorado, first elected in 1998. He previously served in the Colorado state legislature and was part of the Department of Education under Ronald Reagan. He was born in Denver in 1945 and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado. Tancredo and his wife, Jackie, have two children and five grandchildren.

Fred Thompson
Republican from Tennessee
Fred Thompson was a U.S. Senator from Tennessee from 1994 to 2003. He graduated from Memphis State University and earned a law degree at Vanderbilt University. Thompson practiced law and served a variety of government counsel positions, including as minority counsel for the Senate Select Committee on Presidential Campaign Activities ("Watergate Committee"). Thompson now works as a TV actor, playing a prosecutor on the series Law and Order. In his acting career Thompson has appeared in 18 films. Thompson was born in Alabama in 1942. He has been married to Jeri Kehn since 2002, and has four children, two from his first marriage.
