Sounds very Taoist to me.it doesn't matter, but it matters so. My dad quoted something, I wish I could remember it perfectly, but it goes something like this... " The lake does not intend to reflect the image of the tree, nor does the tree expect to be reflected by the lake." IP: Logged |

I love that quote. Thank you.How about: The sage does not intend to meditate, but meditation occurs, just the same. Or: The sage does not intend to meditate, therefore, meditation can occur. IP: Logged |

I exist as I am, that is enough, If no other in the world be aware I sit content, An if each and all be aware I sit content. One world is aware, and by the far the largest to me, and that is mySelf, And whether I come to my own today or in ten thousand or ten million years, I can cheerfully take it now, or with equal cheerfulness, I can wait. yogeshmishra -I love Loa-Tzu, too. Have you read the Hua-hu Ching? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060692456/qi d=1151772208/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/102-6924492-6435355?s=books&v=glance&n=283155 How about Chuang-Tzu? He is one of my all time favorites. Thomas Merton's translations are excellent. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1590301439/sr=8-1/qid=1151772124/ref= sr_1_1/102-6924492-6435355?ie=UTF8 take care, hsc

Yes, Taoist philosophy is the only I am not going to say religion.. I will say 'way'... that really struck me as true. So simple and connected. I am thinking of reading more eastern philosophy now.. I think it will help me to balance my emotions and practicality in a more productive way. Thanks!IP: Logged |

Thanks, TINK!You know what I always say... "There's always room for Whitman!" Just kidding, I dont say that. That would be weird. But Whitman is the best.

Heart--Shaped Cross,Very profound and worth meditating! It feels like taking a close look at our existence, or...my Libran acqaintance was right, many Westerners are even more into Chinese Taoism/philosophy than the younger generations of ethnic-Chinese do...you guys were even talking about Lao-Tzu (shame on me again! There's so much that I have not learned...), wow! Well done, Heart--Shape Cross. I've had this idea for nearly four years- "Some things are meant to be left unsaid." And yet, according to your original post...correct me if I get it wrong- in a more "global" sense (is this properly-put?), nothing is left unsaid...simply interesting ------------------ May not be able to get back to you...appreciate your say nevertheless...D IP: Logged |

D,Thank you! Very kind. I would say that, somethings ought to be said only by those who can say them. Silence is the wisdom of the foolish, and the folly of the wise. (Of course, we can be wise one moment, and just as foolish the next.) I think the word you want is "universal". Yes, in one sense, I think, nothing is left unsaid, provided you are listening. When the song of life seems to grow quiet, it just means that it is your turn to sing! You yourself are the harmonizing note. So, believe in yourself, trust your instincts, and play the notes in your heart and mind. Blessings, hsc IP: Logged |
