A Pause For the Past Our blood lost when you kissed hesitation off my lips. I wanted to believe the life you breathed was better than the future before me. It was the death of a twisted highway, winding late apologies. It was grace that left at dawn, left us choked, to find me combing the smog out of my hair. It was my thirst for your secrets, my ugly hunger that devoured your deceptions. You were the first, the only, the exception, you were the death of me, as well as its intervention. You went dim in my mirror, while I began, crisp as winter air, crackling my words underfoot. What happened later? Darkness brought softness past hardness, But it's the way with such reflections. Out your attic, through the boxes, Past the dust, into your sickness - I came to watch the damage, to call on Love as a silent witness. But in the end I was right to scream, and you were right to leave. We were wrong in our bodies; we were well beyond those nights.

Our blood lost when you kissed hesitation off my lips.? I wanted to believe the life you breathed was better than the future before me. ...
? You went dim in my mirror, while I began, crisp as winter air, crackling my words underfoot.
? What happened later? Darkness brought softness past hardness, But it's the way with such reflections.
? Out your attic, through the boxes, Past the dust, into your sickness - I came to watch the damage, to call on Love as a silent witness.
But in the end I was right to scream, and you were right to leave.
We were wrong in our bodies; we were well beyond those nights.
