I'm thinking of changing my name, bring in some new energy and all that. My birth name is Ruth, and all though I relate to its numeric associations it doesn't really feel like "me". Many cultures change their names at stages of their lives of great significance, and this is mine. Does anyone have any suggestions and how best to find a name and should I be looking out for anything in particular?

Thanks for your help.

Linda Goodman always said that "Ruth rhymes with truth" and I think that it is a very nice name, however if you want to change it you should look into a book that deals with names and their meanings, and also look at the hebrew kabala numerical alphabet, like Linda wrote in star signs.I wish you goodluck in finding a new name.|

Hi Ruth!
Here's what I think you should do to come up with the perfect new name for you: ask yourself, who is the person I admired or wanted to be like or loved the most in my life? what is the name of that person? how many letters does her/his name have? (I think this is important...if you want to vibrate the number 6, which is I think the nicest number to have, then choose a name that has 6 letters?) and how about the FIRST letter of the name? what do you think of the letter O? isn't it the most perfect letter, the circle of life? eternal life? Or L? for Love, Life, Light, etc..? I think you should know what each letter means in your new name and also love each letter! Of course if you add the letters like Linda counted them, what do you want the result to be? 24 maybe for love, money, creativity and happiness? (or 33 better hehehe, the one I chose!)? I'm gonna change my name to, but it took a couple of years to really decide because after it's changed, you don't want to change your mind over and over again (maybe in the USA it doesn't "matter" but here in Canada, I can only change it once!)
So I hope this helps a little...
what do you other people think?

smile =)
laters...

Thanks for your advice, I've been studying different names yet the ones I am drawn to aren't really compatible with the numerical energy I already have, I wonder if these names would bring in an energy I most need, even if I don't see it at the moment ... I think 6 is a great number, I think it would be great to combine with a 3 as I want to start writing for a living ...

Thanks again

If you want to start writing, maybe you also should look at the names of writers that you admire, their numbers etc.
Do you know the history behind your name? Why your parents chose just that name for you? Maybe that can help you, too. Maybe you'll keep Ruth and add another name. My dad was a member of a sect that put big stress on the name, he asked their guru for a name for my sister and he chose Ruth (but my mum refused, so she's got another name).
Also try meditation. And ask before you go to sleep that you get a name in your dream. I wanted a name for our property, and got it in a dream. My brother dreamt the name of his unborn daughter while his wife was pregnant.
I really believe the name does a lot for a person. I read an interview with Catherine Zeta Jones who said she took Zeta, her grandma's name, not to be mixed up with another actress Catherine Jones. And from that moment things really took off.

I heard of a person who used numerology when choosing name for his business. The name he had thought of had so-so vibrations, so he was recommended adding one more letter at the end. So he did. He is now very successfull. But maybe he would have been anyhow?

Hi everyone..
I'm new here, but looking forward to getting to know everyone.

I'm from Denmark and work with numerology.
I was taught the same system as the one in Linda Goodmans book, and primarily I use it to advise people about name changes. We also use a diagram that consists of two triangles to plot in peoples name data and dates.
I have no idea where that diagram came from - my teacher told us that she got it from above (Somehow I doubt it!) So if anyone knows of a diagram used together with chaldean numerology I would love to know.

Ruth - your name could work against you instead of for you. Usually people know by intuition if the name is not the best. But again there is a reason for everything and I believe that. So maybe you are ready for a change.
The way I work I would have to take both your birthdata and your full name into consideration. Everything works together and have effect on each other.

I hope everyone understands my english... I'm a little rusty.

Have a nice day all!!

My dad chose my name, he said it just came to him and that he felt I was connected to Ruth in the bible, yet I always thought she was a bit of a doormat, and as I haven't got an ounce of religion in my bones, and funnily enough, nor has he, I find it hard to connect with. Saying that though, I do feel familiar with the numerology of my name, I just don't believe the name is right for me. To me, names symbolise who you are at a certain point in your life, like the Amercian Indians who give names at each stage of a persons development. I don't feel attached to my name as I think some people do, they are to me energy to work with. Thanks for your suggestions, I will look at some authors today, that's a really good idea!

Hi ChiaZoe, I'm from Norway and I grab this chance to ask what's the numbers for the Scandinavian letters AE, OE and AA?? (In the system that Goodman teaches).

Hi Stella

For ae vi add a and e= 6
For oe vi just take o alone = 7
And for aa vi use just one a = 1

Supposedly because ae is ae, but the others are just one letter with a symbol.

Incidently I spoke with a healer the other day and she told me that the people of Norway are incredibly spiritual for some reason or other. In Denmark as well...

Lucky us..

And thanx for the welcome!

Thanks a lot! I've been asking everyone here about this and surfed the web without getting an answer, but finally...thanks to ChiaZoe!
Norwegian and Danes spiritual?
Nationality is mainly decided by lines on a map and I have a bit difficult imagining people behind one line beeing more spiritual than people on the other side of the line...I mean, move the line a centimeter or two, and I'm suddenly Russian and you German...Se what I mean?
