Hello,I just registered on this site today, and I am very happy with the forum. Through the years, a have had a number of strange occurrences happen to me. 1) A few years ago, I had a dream where my little brother was being harmed and i could do nothing to prevent it...after this event i found myself walking through an isolated town devoid of color except black, greys, and white...as I walk along a road..I hear a commanding woman's voice from the distance command me to "Rise Up!"...(this is when the dream ends) I wake up in my room and look at my clock (4 a.m.)..as I soon realize i cannot move my body...fear begins to grip me..the only light i have in my room comes from a few lit candles..as I look at my wall..I see the shadow of myself lying down and the shadow of another (inividual?) looking down at me. In fear, I close my eyes and pray. When I open my eyes, my room looks like a black and white movie. I close and then open my eyes again. This time my room is as bright as a technicolor picture. When I close my eyes the last time, I feel a strange sensation from the right to the left side of my body..After that, I am able to move. This experience bothers me since my little brother was murdered about 2 years after at the age of 18. 2. One afternoon, I am laying on my bed resting..not asleep..While laying there, the light coming from my window takes on a very strange golden hue..not transparent..very rich and thick. At this moment, I feel a deep resonating voice rising from my diaphragm (sp?) to my mouth. A very rich singing voice. Startled. I shift my body and the voice disappears.
I have had a number of occurences where my body cannot move then i feel a strange sensation at some poing of my body. If anyone knows the cause of these experiences, or where to find info. I would be grateful to my last days. The ones i mentioned just stand out in my mind. Sorry for the length of the post.

Kojo226! Hello! Sorry about your brother. That must be very hard on you. The not being able to move is known as galvanization. It is common during psychic experieces, OBEs, NDEs, Deep trancing and Vision states etc. It keeps our bodies from running amuck and getting hurt while we are in these altered states. Also many people experience this when they are in the state between dreaming and awake. Especially in the case of precognitive or lucid dreaming. It appears you also experienced precog. Keep talking..alot of people here will want to help you. Love Fayte

Thank you. I continue to live to honor my brother's life. I am also thankful that you have finally given me a term to describe this experience. Do not worry. I will stay around. I have a lot to learn from others here. Now I know that I will no longer have to be fearful of these episodes.IP: Logged |

I've also experienced this quite a few times. The first few times this happened I thought there was a spirit on my chest preventing me from breathing. It was also holding my limbs and body down against the bed preventing me from moving. I couldn't even lift a finger. But my mind was wide awake! I tried to cry out, but couldn't let out a sound. So I started praying in my head, cuz I really thought this spirit was trying to kill me. Fortunately after a few seconds or a minute or two (couldn't tell how much time passed) I somehow got out of this state. I later read somewhere that I experienced my brain waking up during the stage of REM sleep where the muscles are completely relaxed (the time when we usually dream...so that we don't act out or react to our dreams I suppose). I don't fully know the science behind it really, and even how valid their studies on sleep paralysis are. IP: Logged |

Welcome! ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll IP: Logged |

What I said… [Quote] I later read somewhere that I experienced my brain waking up during the stage of REM sleep where the muscles are completely relaxed (the time when we usually dream...so that we don't act out or react to our dreams I suppose). [Quote]…what a minute! I know for certain that this episode also happened when I was just laying down, and was also between a state of wakefulness and sleep. How long does it take to get into this REM sleep? I thought it takes about 90 minutes to get into it for the muscles to become paralyzed. Then how did this happen after only a few minutes of laying down and dozing off. I know I dozed off for only a few minutes because there were visitors outside my room when this happened.

The paralysis has been happening to me off and on for as long as I can remember. It usually occurs right before I go to sleep, and I'm also unable to cry out. It scares me because, I also hear a vibrating sound surround me when its happening. I read that it might be related to astral projection, but it scares me anyhow.IP: Logged |

Sorry to hear about your brother Kojo. You and some others may enjoy Robert Monroes book, Journeys Out of Body. I get the sleep paralysis thing too. And like you Planet Soul hear the vibrations sounds (though its like its in my 'inner ear' or coming from within. Boy is it loud!!). Usually mine is a VERY LOUD high pitched ringing noise that often wakes me up. (very scary when this first started happening, but I have gotten used to it) I also get a loud Wind noise at times. There are many levels with different sounds, some people hear bells. A little googling will turn up alot on this. I go out of body without effort and have been for a long time. Luckily I found some good books on the subject and am no longer afraid. I wish I could control it a little more but oh well. It's like an electrical current is running through your body.....very hard to explain. I will try to find some of the good links I found on this subject for you guys. And fayte, youre right. It happens while I'm in a lucid state (usually).... IP: Logged |
