Does anyone else here use a singing bowl and or incense to facilitate deeper meditation or trance states? Or for healing? Or for any reason? Thanks! IP: Logged |

Hi Fayte,I'm not sure what a singing bowl is, but I'd love to find out I do use incense for all sorts of things. To meditate as you mentioned, during spellwork, and to cleanse my home. Sometimes, I'll use it to relax. I love having incense, and then opening all the windows in the home. I feel it clears up any negativity and washes it away with the breeze. IP: Logged |

Hello everyone! I use the common brass singing bowl with the wooden dowl. The tones can be from deep and low like an om with lingering tones....and round the bowl higher brings an added tone running above the lower sound. Varying finger placement and pressure..along with use of the dowel..at different speeds and pressures around the bowl brings out the most beautiful and ethereal deep soul haunting or soothing sounds...tremors and causes a strange effect of the music becoming levels of circumlocution! I started with a rough bowl a year ago. I have worn dowels down and in doing so have smoothed my bowl to bring forth more than beforefrom it. Only I work my bowl the most. It is the bowl that holds the patterns I have slowly caressed into it. I have found myself going into deep meditations and trances..to come out minutes or more later...with my hands somehow on automatic pilot still working the bowl. I find my entire body moving with the turn of the dowl and I rock and sway as I turn the dowl round and round. It becomes a whole body mind and soul experience. And it is healing! I often use it in conjunction with healing and energy work.Incense....yes I use it for much the same reasons all of you have used it for, Yes..it is known to be a carcinogen. But my early exposure to asbestoes...well I am not going to over worry about incense. I enjoy the imported types the best. Not always easy to get however. My favorites are probably the most toxic! Frankincense and Myrrh and Amber...the chunk resin type..and ..yes...the crystaline type..very potent!Amber..Sandalwood...Patcholi...Musk...Pine... Nag Champa...prefer resins or powders. I also love waving my hair over them to pick up their scent! I use them for sheer pleasure...and for helping to hone in on the past lives aspects...many of these scents were used then for a long time. The bowls...I prefer the plainest small brass bowl. And chanting during the rounding and tapping of the bowl adds to the experince! Also adding water...or coins or anything to the inside of the bowl brings on some fasinating tones and results! hi fayte.m i just got one of these bowls for my b.day (oct 2nd)! about a month ago i went into this store, well it seems like a store to the average person, but i think it's quite marvelous in there! i go there nearly everyday for my lunch break and it feels like i'm stepping into another dimention. anywho, i went in and went straight over to these bowls. strangely i had never noticed them before. they have all different sizes, some glass some brass. i sat down on the ground and was trying to do them. one of the ladies who works there, who is now my friend by no accident i'm sure, knows many things and she showed me how to "play" the bowls. well i found this fabulous little brass hand-made bowl from tibet that was the toughest one to play, but i fell in love with it. i love a challenge so i sat there 'till i could produce sound with it. so she surprised me with it for my b.day, so sweet! i had to befriend the bowl before i could play it properly and it really does bring about a trance-like, meditative state! i love it, i feel it opening up my chakras and tuning me right up. i especially feel it, not all the time but some of the time, right in the back of my neck sort of near where the throat chakra would be if it were a tangible point on the body. i believe my friend called it "the mouth of god" where your soul is connected to your god self i think. so as you all can see i am really excited about my new lil singing bowl. infact i have it with me today at work. i'm gonna go play it for my friends at this "store" hehe oh, and incense, i always use it. i love it! i really "clears" out a room if you know what i mean. i get this certain kind of incense from BelleStar,Inc that uses no wood center. found them at the so cal renaissance pleasure faire, very good products. they also have great perfume oils! you really touched on a fond subject of mine fayte hehe. i'm totally rambling ------------------ ~Libra Sun / 29* Gemini Rising / Aquarius Moon~ IP: Logged |

Oh Hexxie! You described exactly how I feel about my bowl! I think we have the same type! And yes..one does have to befriend ones own bowl! My husband told me something about mine! When I first got mine...a friend was with me. There were only two bowls. He snatched up the shiney smooth one. I had to take the unpolished one. His could be played right away with no trouble or practice! I told my husband I wanted a smoothe bowl. He laughed ans said..." the other bowl is the student's bowl...yours is the bowl of a master! You will evolve along with your bowl and smoothe it and bring forth it's tones by your own hand." WOW! I was suddenly in love with my bowl! Bless him! My wonderful and wise husband! IP: Logged |

I love my singing bowl. I only wish I was more familiar with music so that I'd know what note it is.IP: Logged |

You gave me a good idea! I will see if I can match up some of my bowls tones to the keyboard! Thanks! IP: Logged |
