The 300-page volume recently came out in a limited edition — 799 copies — each priced at $8,377, said Scrinium publishing house, which prints documents from the Vatican’s secret archives.

The order of knights, which ultimately disappeared because of the heresy scandal, recently captivated the imagination of readers of the best-seller “The Da Vinci Code,” which linked the Templars to the story of the Holy Grail.

The Vatican work reproduces the entire documentation of the papal hearings convened after King Philip IV of France arrested and tortured Templar leaders in 1307 on charges of heresy and immorality.

The military order of the Poor Knights of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon was founded in 1118 in Jerusalem to protect pilgrims in the Holy Land after the First Crusade.

As their military might increased, the Templars also grew in wealth, acquiring property throughout Europe and running a primitive banking system. After they left the Middle East with the collapse of the Crusader kingdoms, their power and secretive ways aroused the fear of European rulers and sparked accusations of corruption and blasphemy.

Accused by an indebted king
Historians believe Philip owed debts to the Templars and used the accusations to arrest their leaders and extract, under torture, confessions of heresy as a way to seize the order’s riches.

The publishing house said the new book includes the “Parchment of Chinon,” a 1308 decision by Clement to save the Templars and their order.

The Vatican archives researcher who found the parchment said Friday that it probably had been ignored because the 1628 catalog entry on the 40-inch-wide parchment was “too Spartan, too vague.”

“Unfortunately, there was an archiving error, an error in how the document was described,” the researcher, Barbara Frale, said in a telephone interview from her home in Viterbo, north of Italy.

“More than an error, it was a little sketchy,” she said.

The parchment, in remarkably good condition considering its 700 years, apparently had last been consulted at the start of the 20th century, Frale said, surmising that its significance must have not have been realized then.

Burned at the stake
Frale said she was intrigued by the 1628 entry because, while it apparently referred to some minor matter, it noted that three top cardinals, including the right-hand man of Clement, Berenger Fredol, had made a long journey to interrogate someone.

“Going on with my research, it turned out that in reality it was an inquest of very great importance” on behalf of the pope, Frale said. Fredol “had gone to question the Great Master and other heads of the Templars who had been segregated, practically kidnapped, by the king of France and shut up in secret in his castle in Chinon on the Loire.”

According to the Vatican archives Web site, the parchment shows that Clement initially absolved the Templar leaders of heresy, though he did find them guilty of immorality, and that he planned to reform the order.

However, pressured by Philip, Clement later reversed his decision and suppressed the order in 1312.

Jacques de Molay, Grand Master of the Templars, was burned at the stake in 1314 along with his aides.

Surviving monks fled. Some were absorbed by other orders; over the centuries, various groups have claimed to have descended from the Templars.

With less than 800 copies distributed the likelyhood of it's contents hitting the internet is slim... [But, i have hope]

I suppose the dates might dictate it's beyond any copywrite law?

It would be great if we could clear up all the secrecy in the world, in my opinion.

I don't trust any of these groups which keep secrets.

What exactly are they hiding, and don't people living in a so-called democracy have a right to know?

Are they being inspired by a pure god? What do their actions tell us?

I find this odd..because everyone is getting sold on if 911 was a plot...if it really happened (????), aliens....masons...bla bla bla....

IF it was so mysterious and there were THOSE ABOVE that are running things amok with evil intentions and EVERYONE is telling or showing the truth of it...why aren't these people shutting those others up.

Why isn't Michael more dead in a plane crash, or some of the presidential candidates knocked off...why isn't David Icke assassinated?

If this stuff was the truth and its being exposed, why isn't someone shutitng them all up and why isn't someone doing something abou t it?

So opening eyes WIDE open and not Wide shut..doesn't it seem like more time is spent on something that we think exist....speculations that are not seeming to be proven..WHAT IS IT THAT WE ARE REALLY MISSING...what is it that IS being hidden behind all the hype being publicized FREELY by Conspirators....MEDIA...everyone..what is it that They don't want you to really see....maybe that the Earth is calling to us? I wonder...I just feel deep down inside that what is being showned and spent energy on isn't really as important as people make it seem.

For now though, I've stopped reading about any of that stuff....I'll just wait and see how things happen as time enfolds itself, bearing in mind anything I have learned so far....I do not wish to be fooled.

The Earth is calling to us? But what is She really saying, I wonder?
That we can create our own reality, perhaps?
That love can heal all?
But can it?
Can love "kill the demon" I wonder....just like was said in "Natural Born Killers" (someone else brought this up on another thread):
"Only love can kill the demon".

And how do we break free from this matrix, full of tricks?

Maybe if we love enough, we can blow it all apart?

But will this ever happen, or is it just up to the individual?

What is going to happen in 2012?

Not reading anything isn't going to do anything. The key is to READ whats right in front of you.

there was a massive military exercise in the croatian/serb area this weekend....talk of a palestanian state, Russian and Iran. I would think these are the main points,more important that theories on 911 and so forth, things are moving fast despite 2012 and thats right around the corner.

I wish love could win out in four years, I think it could after devastation bigger than 911 and it would have to happen somewhere huge, if its in a small countrie...yes people will see and talk about it for awhile..news coverage and such, anniversaries...but eventually people forget.

Movies are clues too...television shows...tv has gotten so much worse...most times you dont know if you can allow your children to sit in front of the television while you do a chore. there are many things on television (here in the us) used to desensitize children. and though things might seem fiction...who is to say that a major nuclear bomb might not wipe out New York or Chicago one day...if it happened....everyone would say...."wow...wasn't that like a episode of that show"

I don't know about anyone else...but that movie with Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis from 1998..."The Siege", that had me high on alert and when 911 happened I wasn't surprised at all. It could be being ex-military I was trained for that, but I see hints all over the place for disasters to come.

when something happens thats irreversible then we will all be sitting around saying, "i knew it...we talked about that...didn't so and so say that was going to happen."

LOVE can't win over a politician who is logic in their every move and persist on moving to some goal that leaves their name in history.

I thought...if politicians were more like the "broke back mountain" meetings things would be so much better...lol. I mean for those of you raising your eyebrows...if I am a politician and you are and I invite you to come to my place for some fly fishing and camping...lol, if we say we are going to do our best to change the world...no matter what anyone says or tries to do...WE BOTH know what our goal is.
