These bible passages recently helped me a ton when I needed guidance. They gave me a sense of peace and understanding. Turns out the bible has a lot of wisdom. I hope they do the same for you.

What is sin? Is it evil? Is it the demon? No, not at all. Sin is simply something that fulfills you in the short-term, but hurts you in the long-term:
"So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin."

With just a little bit of faith, you can go a long way. But always keep your faith, because there's always a solution to everything, and if you don't stay confident and strong and keep fighting, God can't help your wish come true:
Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

James 4:3
You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.

Have you ever been in love? Real love? Real love is not perfect whatsoever. But it is very devoted for sure. You haven't been in love until you can say you'd do this:
"Jacob loved Rachel. And he said, “I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.” Laban said, “It is better that I give her to you than that I should give her to any other man; stay with me.” So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her."

A pastor's advice. But why is Jesus our first love? I wouldn't take that literally. The bible's wisdom is our first love, and we should follow it because God is love and truth and the bible is love and truth. Put Christ first means live how the bible says to live, and true love will appear by itself:
"I would not try any more. If this man is meant to be your mate for life, then God will not allow him to be lost. You must trust God. To keep on contacting him when he isn’t contacting you back shows that he may not truly care and you don’t want a mate for life like that. Trust God, wait upon His timing. Put Christ first and foremost and then He will add all other things to your life (Matt 6:33). Jesus should be our first love over all things, including others."

Karma, you've heard the word. People make their own karma with their own guilty conscience and results from their actions that were done in denial to the truth of what is right and what is wrong. Wrong is wrong for a reason, because it never brings good results. When you do wrong, you get bad results:
Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief. The backslider in heart will be filled with the fruit of his ways, and a good man will be filled with the fruit of his ways.

It is difficult to be righteous, but knowing you did the right thing will always keep you afloat, even when you're sad:
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.

The flesh are worldly pleasures such as physical pleasure, selfish pleasure, entertainment in the mutilation or sadness of another person, violence---anything that's selfish. But selfish makes you sad at the end of the day, because selfish does not give you love from or for others. The spirit and the flesh want two different things:
For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

Romans 8:5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

Wounds from a friend are a million times better than flattery from an enemy. So forgive your friends when they hurt you again and again. They may not know better, or may just be trying to help you as well:
"Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses"

Insomnia:
Psalm 3:5 I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.

Psalms 4:8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Psalms 127:2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat, for he grants sleep to those he loves.

Proverbs 3:23 [If you preserve sound judgment & discernment] ...when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.

Romans 8:6 The mind controlled by the sinful nature is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.

Worry is proportional to our sense of security. When life is going as planned and we feel safe in our life routines, then worries subside. Likewise, worry increases when we feel threatened, insecure or are overly focused on and committed to some result. 1 Peter 5:7 says cast your cares upon Jesus because He cares for you. The practice of believers is to take our worries to Jesus in prayer and leave them with Him. This reinforces our dependence on, and faith in Jesus.

No amount of worry will add even one hour to one's life (Matthew 6:27). Therefore, why worry? The Bible teaches that we should deal with each day's problems when they occur and not be obsessed with future concerns that may not happen (Matthew 6:34).

Love is forgiveness, and if you love someone and want to show them love, you forgive them, you don't stop talking to them. That's why they say treat others how you would like to be treated, because if you give first then you are setting the example for how they should treat you. If you forgive them enough times, eventually they won't be able to help loving you back. Watch the movie Fireproof:
Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven. “Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made.

Serial killers, and how sin breeds more sin, how lust breeds more lust, anger more anger, violence more violence, and escapism more escapism:
I don't think they start out any different than any other sinner. They have just progressed a little further along their path.
Jesus said if you harbor hatred in your heart against your brother, you are already a murderer.
Just like most people would rob a bank tomorrow if they knew they could get away with it. It is not because they are honest they refrain from stealing the money of others; but only because they fear the repercussions.
In the same way there are millions who would murder someone this moment if only they knew they would never get caught.
Perhaps the only difference between these and a serial killer is that the serial killer had the courage to act upon his convictions.
Sin, any sin, is like a heroin addiction. Once you get carried too far along in it, it is much harder to stop than to continue.

Lexx this is one of the more popular Psalms, "by the rivers of Babylon ..." The captive Jews are bemoaning their fate and calling for vengeance against the Babylonians. The Psalms are nothing if not surprisingly honest in their humanity - the good, the bad, and the ugly.

At any rate, doesn't appear RunAroundScreaming has said anything improper or hateful, so what's the harm?

Lexx, it came to my attention awhile ago that you were telling long time members here to not talk to me (as if your commandment or instruction would make them not do so). They did and told me you did. I think at the time I had p*ssedd you off somehow. I was actually really surprised about that (you telling people to ignore me on and offline). I never thought a woman at your age would have done something like that. Or believed that people didnt have a mind enough of their own and took your word as law.

Anyway, I think it might be in your best interest to take a breather sometimes in these threads. Or get some help offline for your religioius issues.... I don't know. I do know that you are a nice lady, no matter how much youve wanted to try and badmouth me or Christianity or whatever. You can try as you might, but it's most likely not going to do much damage.

It might be time to work on some more of your own issues rather than repeat yourself over and over again here. It comes across as very harsh and beligerant. We all know you are a wise woman....but maybe sometimes take it easy on the younger ones...eh?

k i'll end this here.

Lexx.
Many placess here are grounds for religious debate...though i believe this is just a fun thread so no need to fight

See it as people who seek to appreciate a piece of artwork or so.

I hope no fights *from any users* will start on threads that debate was not their porpouse.

Thank you for agreeing in a way that that psalm is not nice at all, quite ugly.
And yes historically correct, but still very evil concept.

As to RunAroundScreaming so far in this thread;
no she did nothing wrong.
So no harm.
On another thread however she was very nasty.

I was nasty? I didn't call you a single name, yet you called me many names.

Those passages you posted are from the Old Testament by the way. God was really wrathful all throughout the Old Testament

Hi Lexx, thanks for the reply. I regret bringing it up now...I don't want to make a mountain out of a molehill. Mercury is still Rx, so it's probably best not to discuss anything anyway. I trust the person I talked to very much and always will, no matter what. So, I don't even need to talk any more about it. I'll alway trust that person over anything because they have proved to be a very honest person to me for a long time. I guess we all have people here like that. Anyway, while I was surprised and kind of hurt, I don't hold anything against you. Maybe we can talk about it at some point down the road. In the grand scheme of things it's probably not really that important. I wish you the best.

I wish I knew who it is because they must be pretending to be my friend.
I want to avoid them.
I am sad you believe in the lies they told you.
So it is just one person not a group?
Well watch your back sweetie because this person has pulled one on you....and me for that matter.
I do not want trouble but would appreciate knowing who to avoid from hereon.
I will have to drop my entire LL fb list friends if need be;
since I have no clue who this person is.

I forgive you since you were snookered;
and wish you the best even though you buy their lies.
but this still hurts and is not a small matter to me.

I rarely talk to any of the old members or any off line or off LL and have not for years to date. In rarely I mean not even once a year for most and only a few times otherwise.
So I am clueless.

Lexx, I think I figured out who the culprit is.. IF I'm correct then this person really did a number on me too - playing both sides of the coin and would never have suspected (until recently) that this person was capable of such deceitful behavior.

With that said I also want to state that it is NOT Teasel. I'm only mentioning her name because she has been through enough and I don't want her name dragged through the mud for any reason.

The person I suspect is someone who let something slip in a message a couple of weeks ago, possibly a month ago, without realizing it and raised my suspicions.

If you connect your dots you will likely come to the same conclusion.

Oh, also, this person who was nice to all the time (even helped me once but now I have to question if she really was trying to help or damage me) only contacted me whenever T and I were arguing here - other than that she didn't bother messaging me. So that was another RED FLAG.

It is sad when we have to look behind and under posts to see the intention of the poster.

Thank you Charmaine
I guess I am daft
I am trying to connect the dots and trying to figure out who the the culprit is.
Seriously I feel like an idiot because I am so damn clueless.
Well thank you anyhow for letting me know who did not do it. I just want to know so I can avoid the liar from hereon.
I do not want to make trouble.
I just need to know so I can avoid them and so I do not have to close my fb or leave LL.
It is very uncomfortable knowing one has a hater telling lies;
and not knowing who it is.
I wondered why T went nutters on me.
It made no sense.
This is so very unexpected and very depressing.

trying to think this all out to figure it out.
Sad to hear they duped you too.

I know it was NOT/is NOT you.{{{hugs}}}
These personal attacks here and outside LL are really getting me down.
I know of one person who was going around telling folks to avoid me and lying about me;
and she did not think she was doing anything wrong because she was only doing her hate on me by e-mail to folks and or at fb, not at LL.
I doubt she is the person T mentions.

I'd have thought anyone passed high school would've known better than to fall for such a juvenile tactic. Turning people (such as yourself) against someone (such as Lexx) by claiming that they heard the intended victim saying nasty things about you is classic middle school behavior. By the time I was in high school (where that tactic remained popular) me and other kids even made a game out of it to see what ridiculous unverified rumors we could get other kids to believe, though at least we weren't mean about it (or didn't mean to be), just silly. Naturally, those who did it for control and more malicious reasons often didn't get silly, they said things like "So and so told me not to talk to you." I'd have hoped that by the time kids become adults they'd know better than to believe that without solid evidence as some people never outgrow middle school.

In any case I don't believe it. Lexx doesn't call for people to be shunned, she's someone who confronts/debates. Therefore, not only would I demand proof before falling for a mere rumor designed to turn me against someone, I'd have noticed that it's not Lexx's character to freeze someone out so that they go unchallenged AND I'd note that those who couldn't handle her challenges WOULD love to turn others against her at an emotional level which would, at the very least, discourage her from confronting them and/or their beliefs. If someone wanted me to give them more of a benefit of a doubt then they'd have said Lexx was trying to inspire a dog piling of someone (NOT saying it happened, just speaking hypothetically here), but even then I'd demand proof before I believed it. Granted, I'd observe, but I'm about certain I'd come to the conclusion I was dealing with middle school behavior by whoever was "sharing" about Lexx and discount it, not just assume it was true.
