Just want to introduce my religion.

I believe in the powers of mother Brigid, the mother goddess of my ancestors, the Celts.
And I believe in the holy father, the green man, who does her bidding upon earth.

Thanks to all who make me feel welcome and are open to my beliefs.

Welcome!

Just curious, do you follow a specific tradition or are you an eclectic? If eclectic then what was your inspiration to adopt a Celtic focus?

I would definitely say I'm eclectic, and what made me come to the Celtic way was because I am a descendant of a highland clan called the Mackays.
I've also always felt a strong connection to Queen Boudicca of Iceni, see I had always though of myself in a past life as a warrior in her army, and then I went to a tarot reader, who had no idea that I thought that, and she told me I had indeed been a warrior in a past life.
I did experiment with worshiping different goddesses like Demeter, Isis, and Diana, but I found that because of my heritage and past life that I more easily identified with Brigid and her teachings. I also have, since I was a little girl been obsessed with the green man. Ever since I first saw a picture of him at the age of six, I continuously thought of the image of him. When I learned of his true identity, I decided I would worship him as the masculine.
Plus I also just the love the Celtic lifestyle and their equality to women in their ancient culture.

That's a good answer, thanks!

I read a Dragonlance Chronicles when I was 16 that made me curious about warrior women (especially those that led armies), and so I found Women Warlords in the YA section of the library that got me curious to find a more detailed book on Queen Boudicca, and I understood why she and her followers were willing to fight even if they were likely to die themselves as better the death of the body than the death of the spirit.

Later that same year (and inspired by having just seen the Matrix) I wrote a story for a class project where me and my classmates accidentally caused the founding fathers to possess Pentecostals (calling the spirits into a Ouija board for a history report and then busting it over the head of the Pentecostal calling down the Holy Spirit as other Pentecostals were trying to force an exorcism on all of us ) which led to the discovery that many villains through history were also in the world possessing bodies who decided to work together to put the spirits of the founding fathers (plus Abigail Adams) back to rest before they could ruin everything, primarily King George the III (possessing then Texas Gov. Bush) and Adolf Hitler (possessing our school principal who was shopping for a new body). When they failed to stop us they then called their ally, then President Clinton who brought federal forces to destroy us and it looked really bad, we were doomed, when suddenly a biker gang came for President Clinton as they were possessed by the Iceni and led by Boudicca launched a surprise attack as they recognized the spirit of Suetonius (not sure why I chose Clinton for that other than fun, I think it was a mix of what he had done in Serbia, his debauchery that made me think of Romans, and being a politician as Suetonius would become later), and after that (and the villains getting away in the helicopter, our principal Adolf Hitler yelling we were expelled) we joined the Iceni in common cause against the 3.

The kids in my class loved it when I read it outloud, the faculty was much less amused and I got suspended over it.

Though a teacher from another school said she loved the creativity of it that showed I didn't just memorize facts, I'd THOUGHT about what it all meant and how even ancient history helps shape the world today, she'd have given me a score of 125 as she was so blown away by it and how I had footnotes all through it showing why I had the characters doing that and also some parallels with the political figures they possessed...what really ticked off our principal was linking to a school library book called Hitler Youth that showed the Nazis demanded school uniforms just as our principal was trying to force on the school!

Ah well, Queen Boudicca left an impression on me when I learned of her, too.

I've been somewhat drawn to Brigid/Bride and the various forms of the Green Man as well. I'm also a fan of a lot of Celtic music (both folk and modern) as well, and thought I'd leave you with a music vid I think will resonate for you:

one of the Yoni symbols?
Or a variation of the triple goddess/or full moon symbol?
Or all of them?

Hello!

I am so happy there is another one of us here!

I posted something similar, a while back Pixie replied.

I am not a Wiccan, but quite the Pagan.

I do not celebrate the cross quarters, but I mix, for instance The Winter Solsitce in with Christmas, (raised a Christian, far from now), with my true heart and energy in to the solsitce.

Halloween is for fun, but Samhain is what I truely re-cognize and it is my New Year.

I sleep thru December 31st and January 1st and almost always work both days cause they mean nothing to me.

I spell craft on occasion, I grow my own herbs to do so and I adore nature, I, when not working, commune with the birds and the squirrles everymorning (See my post on my Zen garden on Yellow Wax)

I take not from one "religion" but learn from all the masters and their teaching and have a huge reverence for life.

Good to have a like-minded soul here~

Randall, I saw your query about The Green man before the world went to computer hell..

(it wasnt just this site...lots of problems elsewhere)

The Green Man is traditionally the male Pagan diety of "mother nature."

He is a diety a man can connect with more redily than the goddess.

Depending on how one sees The Green Man in his or her own perspective is very personal.

I will let Whitewitch elaborate on this.

Personally, I see him as symbolic. Have a Green Man or two around here, but, I am not a worshipper of any Pagan diety, (or ANY diety for that matter) just a simple woman who employs the Pagan ways.

I have The Threefold Triple Goddess tattooed on my upper back, representing Maiden, mother, chrone..(As well as the Trident of the Pisces Ruler, Neptune....)

Again, like I said, I adhere to none, but take in all and walk my own woven path~

Note I have been using )~(

in some posts.

Of course it re-presents the my Pisces soul, but like I already said, it represents a trilogy...Neptune, Maiden, Mother, Chrone....Even The Christians were smart enough to borrow off of it "father, son, holy ghost"

Same here. With the HRH or )-( R )-(.

...also reminiscent of Toys R Us Inc. (known for the TOYS R US logo), founded in 1948.

Moonwitch...

what are you know?

are you just a witch?
i think wicca has become like....the step 1 for many newcomers to neopaganism, and then they 'outgrow' it.
have you looked into traditional witchcraft?

im seeing many pagans turning into more traditional spiritualities such as african traditional religions...and so on. and, abandoning neopaganism.

unfortunately, and this is what i see.
much of neopaganism and wicca has become very superficial and watered down, and defined more for what it isn't versus..what it is.

Someone told me a long time ago, possibly someone here, when I first started posting here in like 2007, that I have a connection with Brigid. I cannot remember why or what happened to come to that conclusion, I've just never forgotten it LOL...

And although I have been raised Christian and still continue upon that path, I recognize and hold a lot of things from wicca in high regard to how I feel about my own self. So, I do feel a pull towards Celtic things. Images and music...just a lot of things interest me in that regard.

My mind is VERY open to be a Christian. But I've seen too much with my own eyes to disagree with things, so I just decided to let my old mind just open on up and it's been quite the journey!
