Placements in: Mercury - Gemini - 3rd house Sagittarius - 9th house - Jupiter in aspect to Mercury or in the 3rdI think if you want to be a good journalist, better have some planets in the social houses - 9th, 10th, 11th as they relate to the world at large. IP: Logged |

My friend's brother has ASC, Sun, Moon, Mercury in Sagittarius...he's got a B.A. in Journalism and interned with Google. Really smart guy!I have Gemini ASC, Mars in Gemini and I was a Journalist major for awhile, then switched to Psychology and now I'm switching to Sociology. My friend has Mercury and Venus in Gemini and loves writing, but she's more poetic and intense than me. Cancer friend has Mercury in Leo and Venus in Gemini, also very opinionated and academic. He wrote for his college newspaper while he attended. My Scorpio friend with Mercury in Scorpio? Can't write worth a damn. I think I've written 80% of her college papers. My Virgo friend with Mercury in Libra loves quotes, and she's very intelligent but writing and journalism specifically aren't her forté in my opinion. IP: Logged |

I've always loved literature, especially the canon. As a kid, it was my dream to be an author...until I realized how much work writing is (and conversely, how lazy I am )...Somehow I ended up settling on accounting/finance (because that's not a lot of work or anything? lol, riddle me that). When I need to write, I think I generally do it well, but technical communication rather than anything creative, is really my forte. I'm actually not creative at all, really.Placements: ASC in Virgo MC in Gemini Moon in Sagittarius (3rd House) Mercury in Taurus (8th House) Venus in Pisces (6th House) Jupiter in Cancer (10th House) Aspects: Moon square Venus Moon inconjunct Jupiter Mercury sextile Venus Mercury sextile Jupiter Mercury opposite Pluto Venus trine Jupiter Venus sextile Uranus Venus sextile Neptune Venus trine Pluto Jupiter conjunct MC IP: Logged |

I am almost done with my first book.I know it is not perfect but writing needs some skills and a lot practise, right? I understand economics which are my second choice because everyone tells me that writing wont get me anywhere and it's a job that does not always give you the chance to get recognised for what you do. But oh well..that's all blah blah to me :P ------------------ I am stuck in a daydream IP: Logged |

People who succeed in writing careers envision themselves as writers and nothing else, tbh. It's very competitive and you need to be willing to cope with some obstacles in achieving your goals. It's the same with broadcasting/journalism in general. Think of all the people wanting to be on television and in movies going to auditions, same sort of competition level. If you are completely determined to be a writer, you will be one. Writing is about who you are, fundamentally. If you cannot see yourself as anything else, it's just who you are. Same with any type of a creative endeavor. You feel compelled to write, draw, paint, sculpt, invent, whatever it is. It's about that creative drive or force. Art isn't about succeeding in everyone else's eyes, it's purely subjective. It's what artists accept in their lives. Those who cannot, find something else to do. With the internet you do not need to rely so much on traditional opportunities. You can create your own blogs and what not, try to generate interest that way. Take a course on marketing/advertising, if you are interested in reaching a broad audience. It really is like a popularity contest...you have to figure out ways to get noticed by lots of people if you want to earn a good living from it.
