Hey Randall, first let me say that I'm massively appreciative of the forum we have. However, is there any chance we could upgrade to the lastest vbulletin style forums? We could start fresh and have this forum as a sticky on the new forum. I have absolutely no idea if there are costs asociated with this but I will be willing to donate some greenbacks to help make this happen.

I just looked and saw that the lastest vbulletin software only costs $60 per year and it includes free updates. I have no idea if your bandwidth bill would increase (i'm guessing that it would stay the same if the foot traffic stayed the same).

I would do a UBB upgrade, but I'm not willing to lose the smilies in all the many Posts (there would Xs everywhere from broken links). I made Astrology invisible (for now) until I can figure out how to restore it for the long haul. vBulletin is a whole different ball game altogether; it would be like scrapping our whole site. Opening this new Forum solves the problem without discarding the other Forums to start anew.

i agree with got gemini, im used to those boards, iv never seen them have consistent crash or mess-up issues like this!

might be worth considering.

they also look a little more neater than this place. without offending any designers intentionally there.

I may have been unclear-- my comment was in reference to the new forum, not the post directly before mine.

Having said that, if Randall should decide to upgrade, I'd love to donate.

So ultimately I'm in support of whichever idea works best for LL, with a preference for keeping things as they are for as long as possible.
