For some time now, Ive noticed a pattern in which I attract these extremely intelligent guys really effortlessly. I mean, i'm not even trying too. They are usually writers/poets too and it's kind of intimidating to my Taurus Mercury, because I couldnt string a proper sentence together to save my life, nevermind punctuate it correctly or sometimes even make it coherent. I partly blame that also on Neptune, which was transiting my Asc and first house all through my grade school and part of JR high years, when I shouldve been learning about all these things. Instead I was noticing oddities in the people and things around me. Most of the time was spent doodling, And people-watching....or classmate-watching rather (always fascinating!! ) To make a long story short I never payed much attention to the blackboard and am not an intellectual by any means. I would think someone with that nature would be attracted to another intellectually oriented type, so i'm not sure what gives. These guys often have an artistic bent to them too.

I've Venus in Gemini 5th house and Moon in Virgo 8th.

Astrologically, that is what I would say plays into this.

Any thoughts? And what kinds of people do you find yourself attracting? And, astrologically, where do you place this?

I attracting man who looks like my mother and father in someway. I am as an alcoholic daughter who drawn to alcoholic men all the time. It was just an example. Its psychology and be there deeply in everyone and so for me also. I drawn to that I recognize.

When I'm falling in love I dont care about synastry. The best synastry it's not a guarantee to get me falling in love.

You may not be academic (by your own admission) but I don't think that means that you're not an intellectual. Look at your posts here. You're certainly very intelligent. You express yourself articulately. You come across as very artistic. There's a sense of wisdom and great compassion about you. Your posts also suggest that you have a great deal of varying life experience. I think in person you would be a very interesting conversationalist too. They could borrow from you - and you could be their muse. You're an interesting person with interesting things to say. For an intellectual who would enjoy mental stimulation that would be a massive attractor.

Another PA echo.... echo.... echo....
T, how you've felt/responded to what has happened in your life, and processed it, and may I add, processed it at a very high level, is what's so attractive about you
And please don't give yourself so little credit -- you are quite learned!! You and I both grouse about what we feel is verbal/written constipation, but it just ain't so (thank you, Neptune, for clouding/obscuring how we see facets of ourselves ). T, you write with clarity, warmth, a great deal of wit and zest, and especially HEART.
Perhaps these fellas who are extremely intelligent are, consciously or unconsciously, seeking someone whose scales are weighted more over in the emotional sector (ie, art), and are also drawn to the compassion that you emanate

I also have Taurus Mercury, nothing wrong with it as a placement. It's on my chart in the 7th house. Do I attract writers and intellectuals? Not if they are pretentious and full of cr@p.

Neptune in 1st, I see what you mean, my elder son and I have the lifelong version. The thing with that placement is we know what is going on. It just might not appear that way. Think of what you said there, you were taking in information about your environment. Maybe the blackboard didn't measure up in terms of capturing your imagination.

If you think your punctuation isn't up to scratch and you feel insecure about it, why not do something about it? You can borrow a book about it from the library. Alternatively you can decide it isn't very important to you at all. Plenty would agree.

In conversation nothing beats the ability to listen. If this is one of your qualities then this will answer your question. I notice you have Moon in 8th. My husband has this placement, also in an Earth sign (ahem, Taurus). He is very perceptive.

omg!!! Thank you PA & Zala! I dont know what to say. It's nice to see me through your eyes and i appreciate you telling me. Youre right, Z, I dont give myself much credit, pretty good at beating myself up too. I've got to work on that.
PA, i just dont feel like I express myself articulately most of the time. Nothing ever comes out right or the way I want it too. I'm glad to know some of you see other wise!

And great observations on why it might be that i attract this type. Maybe you two are right!

Thanks, Duex, teasel and scrappy.

Interesting popcorn.

BM, i didnt know you also had Merc in Taurus.

Actually it's still in my 1st house too. I dont think it's lifelong, but just about. And youre right, the blackboard did not measure up. lol

That's a good idea, but no, it's not that important to me. I know others - especially people who know what theyre doing, can be sticklers about it and judge another who makes a lot of mistakes. All in all though, it's not important to me and not that bad I suppose.

This is one of my best qualities. Also one of my pet peeves with other people. Someone I deal with on a daily basis is a horrible listener, but expects you to listen to all his long stories (that he has told you ten times already) always about himself too, and he interrupts constantly, when you can get a word in. Or as soon as you start talking, busies himself with something nearby changes subject right away - it's SOOO annoying. Like as soon as someone starts talking, he's already thinking of something else he wanted to say - and usually does. No matter if it's on topic or not or if you are talking or not. I dont know how the girlfriend deals with it and feel bad for her.
Cant stand people who expect you to listen, but dont listen to you.

I barely say boo-peep, so when I do say something, I dont want to be interrupted, thank you. grrr.

Thanks for your thoughts.

T i have to chime in. it pains me to think you might consider yourself intellectually inferior. you have LOTS of smarts, curiosity, judgement and compassion. geesh, where's the lack in that?

plus you come over like a cool breeze.

be glad you don't have merc in virgo LOL! i have NO problem with punctuation or grammar but i am merciless with myself, everything has to be PERFECT or else! i think your kinder, calmer intellect is just what an intellectual guy might need to balance him ...and keep his feet on the ground.

plus you are creative yourself.

tho i have to say thanks! as it is always nice to be reminded that being overly self-critical can happen to the best of us!!

Yes, Mercury in Moo, Conjunct Saturn. The brakes can be frustrating, but I do like facts to be straight and apostrophes to be in the right place. Friends get me to proof read their scribbles.

wow, Bluemoon...kinda like me with Mars conj Saturn. Talk about frustration all around.

I think I figure out my problem - got the wounded healer Chiron conjunct Mercury. Why i never seem to get anything out right.

The positive side of this combination is increased ability to communicate and teach, to stir the minds of others. These aspects can really be inspirational. But, you could feel that you have just communicated brilliantly when you actually didn't. Conversely, you might feel that your communication bombed when it was really right on target.

My Mercury/Saturn is also Trine Pluto, I try to channel the painstaking tendencies into research. Also on my chart Mercury is Conjunct Venus and Square Mars in the 3rd. That's a whole other story.

Sounds familiar. I have Chiron conjunct Mercury, too.

quote:
With Chiron-Mercury aspects, we may rarely feel satisfied with how or what we communicate. To express ourselves, or not to express ourselves--that is the question with Chiron-Mercury hard aspects. We may talk someone's ears off one day, and then feel guilty about it later, at which point we retreat into ourselves and become uncommunicative. We might review conversations we had with others and kick ourselves for what we said, or what we didn't say.

Chiron/Sun sounded just like me, as well, except for being the middle child, and having my work criticized... there were other reasons for my anxieties (and I was personally criticized over and over, but not by my parents - not much anyhow). I appreciated sincere praise, and people liking my work, but hated any attention that followed good work (like the teacher reading out a story that I'd written, because she was impressed with it).

I'm wondering if they are approaching you or they know you and then get interested. If it is the first as I would suspect. It would more likely be your physical qualities that they are attracted to. Maybe even your style, what you are wearing my present you in a way that is interesting to this type.
