Hi everyone, I'm new here and to astrology and am trying to read my Natal chart.

Problem is I have 3 charts from 3 different sources, (an old World of Wisdom disc, Russell Grant's website & Astrodienst website), and the information is a little different on each!

I only got the 3rd chart in hope it would be exactly like one of the others and I'd know which one was right, but as you can see, it too has me confused.

All other info on the 3 charts are the same, but this is the conflicting info I get ...

WORLD OF WISDOM (36s54, 174e46) ...
Moon in 8th House
Venus in 9th House
Jupiter in 9th House
Mars opp N. Node
Mars conj. S. Node
Saturn square Pluto
Uranus sextile N. Node
Uranus trine S. Node
and it has no Mars/MC aspects

RUSSELL GRANT (36s52, 174E46) ...
Moon in 9th House
Venus in 10th House
Jupiter in 10th House
Mars square MC
and it has no Saturn/Pluto aspects
& no Mars or Uranus aspects to either Nodes

ASTRODIENST (36s52 174E46) ...
Moon in 8th House
Venus in 9th House
Jupiter in 9th House
Mars square MC
Saturn square MC
and no Mars or Uranus aspects to either Nodes.

Sorry for the long drawn out post but can anyone help me work out which is the correct one?

I was born in Auckland, New Zealand on 16th April 1974 at 10.20am.

Thanks

It sounds like Russell Grant uses the Equal House System

Aspects to the Nodes and MC aren't normally drawn in

Another thing to remember here is that some astrologers will use narrower orbs so won't count some aspects others will

The default setting on Astro is Placidus - like I say I suspect RG uses EQHS so that would explain why the Moon and friends falls in different houses on different charts

I learned using EQHS but now use Placidus. I like having the MC clearly at the start of the 10th house.

p.s talking of which, did you know Uranus is transiting over your M.C? I wonder if this is a time of personal upheaval, maybe a change of job or family circumstance. It separating from a Square to your Nodal Axis so I suspect something is up to make you search out your chart and think about life direction.

Hello lalalinda, thanks for the welcome

Hi and thank you for your reply blue moon
I'm not familiar with equal house systems as I am still new to this.
Is the Astrodienst chart (the same as the one you've posted) the one you'd go by?
I'd really like to know which houses my planets are in.

re. Uranus transiting over my M.C
I had no idea lol, but so far (fingers crossed) no to upheaval or change of job, and probably not family circumstances, unless my sister just finding out that she's pregnant counts.

Doesn't sound very good - does this last long?

Thanks!

Astrology uses many House Systems.
I use equal house because it explains my nature to me precisely. I have Mars in 2nd as per equal house making me quite laidback than a hyperactive Mars in first house guy predicted by Placidus.
So you must introspect. Moon in 8th house and Moon in 9th house are completely different in nature.
The 9th House Moon type will have a foreign culture connection: Foreign Lover/husband, living abroad or travelling abroad to study more for the love of being abroad than for money, an inner fiery obsession with truth, a desire to be published and known for one's true knowledge or experience.
When emotional, there will be quite a temper and honest rudeness will be expressed.
The 8th House Moon type will be well versed (inspite of not having a direct interest) in matters of taxation, mutual funds, stocks, long term bonds and inheritance laws. There will be deep ponderings on death and afterlife and a natural talent for structure, discipline and knowledge of the family tree.
There will also be tremendous emotional patience.

So think, which type are you? Once confident, choose the appropriate house system.

Thanks for that iQ

The only thing I have in common with the Moon in 8th House description is (limited) family tree knowledge so I guess the Equal House system is the right one for me.

Yes, I use Placidus. But not because of my own chart.

Under Equal my Moon is in the 11th house. I always preferred it there, it seemed more like me. However, I prefer Placidus as I prefer the MC/IC axis to be at the start of houses 10/4 and for other reasons not related to my chart.

Under Placidus I have the Moon in 10th. I never thought that sounded like me at all. But as I have learned more about astrology, and have got older, I accept there might be more in it than I might find comfortable.

Cherry-picking a system so planets can go where we like them doesn't seem the best way to proceed, I don't think, but that is just my view.

Unfortunately the answer to your question "which is right?" is - neither. They are all valid systems.

Has anyone seen a Placidus chart for a hypothetical native born near the North Pole on 21st June ?
I did, and stopped using Placidus immediately
because in such charts, Ascendant becomes equal to IC. That destroys the Universal structure of astrology.
There are many Russian cities beyond 70 degrees North, and no astrologer has convinced me to this day that it is ok for those Russian natives to not have a decent first, second, third, fourth house etc.
They also express, earn, communicate/emote and have a home, and their transit experiences can only be explained by using the equal house system.

IQ,

the "polar-region" argument is actually the one that I find much more convincing and reliable than picking a fitting housesystem, going by our assessment of our own traits alone.
We all have a certain perspective on ourselves, and to be honest, we probably could even switch perspectives and still find fitting things, either in the houses or elsewhere in the chart.

But yes, no matter how much I love Placidus, it is a fact, that at certain times at certain regions of this earth every inequal housesystem simply fails.

The question is: Can we accept it?

Personally it feels very unsatisfying for me to accept it. It is like ignoring an important piece in the puzzle, just because I donīt like it.

Of course that is only my opinion.

And in practical use I have always found Placidus to work reliably.

But then maybe equal will work just as reliably.
