Hey everyone,

This is something I wanted to discuss for a while now. As I be scrolling past some threads here or reading descriptions for some aspects online, I notice sometimes people would say "this is doomed to failure", "run, this is so awful", or something like that. Just to say x, y and z is an awful placement/aspect.

Sometimes it makes me wonder, is there really such a thing as an awful aspect ?

I think the way the planets set up is a fascinating thing, and in no way it could be an awful-end-of-the-world aspect. Only for it to teach us something.

How can an aspect make a relationship of any kind, doomed to failure or disastrous endings ? Don't you think that sometimes, we can work it out ? Or it's meant to teach us something valuable ?

Yes you are totally right but a lot of astrology people will nontheless use astrology that way. I have used it in that manner before when I have been very negative, hell I still blurt out "he is libra venus afterall, he is such a jerk" etc (this comment I made just a few days ago, I do fall back on old tracks when I'm Upset!)

But well I don't believe it, I just blurt that stuff out when I'm upset.

Or like "yeah I'm plutonic so I'm intense" etc.

Ok I will try to explain how I mean but bare with me since english is not my language:

The way we astro people phrase things sometimes are just innocent and its ment to be "explanatory". Like if someone is emotional and be like "bare with me, I'm cance moon afterall". Its I believe ment to give the message, "I'm emotional"also it gives astro people all the info they need when we hear "cancer moon". Or when someone is correcting your grammer and states "sorry, I'm a virgo".Its ment to be fast information oftentimes. Its not that the person is like "I'm ruled by this planet, I can't be the other way" Thats like when males would go "I'm a male, I can't help it".

Its just not correct usage.

Then one of thise two thing can be the result depending on the person I believe: Either since we phrase things so often or read phareses like "I'm a leo, I have a big ego, thats just who I am". Or "I have saturn i n 5th, I'm doomed", it get imprinted in our minds and soon, you will believe, its the planets that rules your actions and your behaviour and life etc...

How we phrase things is important in the long term. The mind starts to believe things when it hears or reads it that often IF one is not concious and aware.

The second type of persons I would say are those who realy do believe we are ruled by planets and their energies. And well it can be hard not to when all the saturn-moon people you meet are seroius and aloof etc.
But defining an energy in order to know its mechanisms etc is one thing. Stating its exactly this or that way that energy is manifested is a whole other thing and thats why we see that types of topics and comments..

I hope I made a sense?

And again, I'm not judging, I do use those phrases and have believed it myself very often. I do use astrology just as a ma and as a tool in psychology and behaviour mechanism.

I'm however super frustrated with people going "yeah, he will definately cheat because he has this sign".. ugh! Stop astroshaming! Please! Those types of comments really hurt astrologies image! We even had a thread about astroshaming. But maybe we have to work harder to get it through to people?

Sincerily/ Former, much more aware astroshamer who still makes mistakes

Yes, I understand what you mean. To a certain extent, the "I'm a Virgo" "Sorry I'm too emotional, I'm a Cancer Moon" can slide. What I meant is that, I find a lot of people saying how this chart is awful, "look at this synastry, they will break up in 2 days and 5 seconds...". Like ??? Come on.

I do acknowledge there are some aspects that would make it a bit tough to work with. But maybe you can just try to work it out instead of "OMG I have Saturn opp my Moon, and his Saturn is this and that and my Venus squares his this and that, we're going to divorce and I'm going to have a break down!" (exaggerating but you get the point..)

I have seen many charts of people that would be **** if those same "it's an awful aspect" have a look at them. But still turned out to be amazing.

My point is, an aspect is only awful if you don't work on it. A person can have the most harmounious chart, or a beautiful match in heaven chart with someone else, and that person themself would consider their life a total failure, or that whatever relationship they had with a person Z was such a flop.

Do I make sense ? That's how I look it at least.

An aspect or placement is just a combination of planetary principles and the good and bad in it is really how we use it. If you were born with Mercury square Mars and learned to get a temper under control early in life and not to start useless arguments just to foist your opinions on others, then I'm not here to tell it that aspect is 'bad'. They're a starting place of default tendencies that play out predictably -- IF you don't outgrow the negative tendencies.

well the same aspect won't always be exactly the same in every case (same with natal charts and **** ) since there's typically multiple forms of expressionand all readings are based on perspective and skill of any given astrologer

but the thing is when reading anything about astrology you have to automatically assume it's just statistics based and not 100% and accept that when broken down to an individual level there's no certainty which side of a statistic someone or a relationship etc is on

it'd be a ***** to talk about astrology and constantly write up a disclaimer though, make it really hard to have a discussion without a **** ton of unnecessary words attached every time

so there's highly likely ways for **** to play out, the placements and aspects etc would have no meaning if there wasn't but yeah anomalies and **** that offsets any given aspect and alters expression can exist

you can't really have a subject worth studying that's never right or a map where the points can mean anything though instead of referring to anything specific, systems either work for the most part or they don't ultimately

I get what you mean. I too don't like fatalistic readings. Same can be said of nice aspects like Sun/Moon-Venus but you don't feel lovey-dovey with them at all. I think the mystery of attraction remains a mystery.

And I also don't think people should make predictions on a chart's longevity or absolute statements such as 'they only see you as a fling', 'this will last a few months at best', 'they will cheat on you', etc... This kinda comments throw people off. Professional astrologers don't do that. They often use the words "may"... "possible" etc because one cannot never assume the absolute.

I'd shown the chart of a couple who has been together 3yrs and was told that he only saw her as a fling. No one stays in a firmed 3-yr r/s and think of it as only a fling so I find that comment laughable. Perhaps some people think that as long as your chart doesn't show that they will go to the Moon and back for you, they must only see you as that - a fling. Idealistic love is well... idealistic, and I thought I'm supposed to be the idealistic one with Neptune/Moon in 7H (lol).

I think Libra energy tends to give that impression. I've called my Libra Moon ex a jerk because he doesn't hear the contradictions in his statements. IMO, they try too hard to rationalise feelings (for the Moon aspect).

Yes! Exactly. Charts are very static in that way. You can have many "negative" aspects, but it doesn't mean you'll always have them. That's why I think it's important when reading one's chart, to be wary of using such negative words. That "bad" aspect can still manifest in a person, but that person is not doomed to have it manifested through out his whole life - UNLESS they don't work on it ofc.

So everything stays very relative I would say. If we learn how to control a temper, or how to be more outgoing, how to be more grounded... I think that itself is a great achievement.

That' how I look at it, you can have bad and good aspects, if you don't work on neither of those, you will stay the same. You'll manifest the bad ones, and lock the good ones. A chart guides you to where the work should be more focused on, no matter how bad or good it is.

Yes I understand how you mean, and that was exactly what I was getting about. The same goes for synastry and relationships aswell as natal aspects.

Yes Dumuzi! You described what I was trying to say aswell just with such better wordings!
I see, you are right about this is being a dynamic map so to speak. I should not use the map analogy,, its as you say not definite meanings to the symbols:/

well it kind of is pretty much a map of the stars and planets etc on the day you were born (moreso true of sidereal), but calling it a "dynamic map" actually works better to describe it; i'm stealing that phrase

idk what happened between you and my almost astro twin, but i hope you work that out

i know in my case sometimes when i'm a complete ******* it's due to being afraid of letting people in and i can avoid people or push them away

other times i just need to detach and be away so i can filter through my own **** without feedback and i can do it abruptly and unfairly sometimes and it's not necessarily personal it can completely be a me thing; it's something i recognize and have tried to work on more recently because its caused plenty of damage

sun sign and ascendant differences can make huge changes but there are common points so maybe he works that way too on some level

i think sometimes the libra **** can make that kind of behavior seem worse because people get used to seeing the libra side and then it sort of blind sides them, though maybe that's worse in my case with the ascendant/venus conjunction

There are good and bad manifestations for every placement. I think some placements are more likely to manifest negatively and others positively, but that doesn't mean any placement is inherently terrible.

I have Venus square Chiron in my chart and it's easily one of the most painful relationship aspects out there to have in your natal chart, but if you know which red flags to watch out for and you have a defined idea of what you want and need from a romantic relationship, it doesn't necessarily mean your love life is wrecked forever. All it means is you'll have to put in more effort to make sure you select a romantic partner that won't treat you like garbage.

In general, no placement has to suck. You will have your challenges, but it's about perspective. Even if you can't change something about yourself, does that mean your life is going to suck forever? Not necessarily. Some people just have to work harder in certain areas. I have to work harder than the average person when it comes to my 6th house. I had to work harder than the average person to become happy and I'm extremely lucky that I was able to pull it off.

Overall, I just agree. There's no such thing as a bad placement.

Everyone has some really hard placements and you can see this more if you add asteroids, too.

The hard ones are hard. You can't say they are not lol

Yes I be like that aswell!

Uranus does make aspects to my Mars and Moon (Opposite) and aspects to my sun and mercury, And yes I act just like you describe it, I detach so I can process my sh**t.

This I do when I am completely overwhelmed and stressed out mentally since my brain never will stop analyzing stuff (merc-pluto oppo). ¨

I have literelly gotten ill physically bc of overthinking leading to insomnia loss of apetite and other stuff.

During those periods, somethings gotta give.. So when I reach my limit, I will just disappear. I will not be reachable, my whone will be disconnected etc. Often for 1-2 weeks.

If I was to be contacted by the persons who was the culprit during this time, I don't get happy, I get even more irritated! I really have to detach for real.

This some people may have seen as I wanna get attention or that I wanna test their loyalty etc. But those friends I talked with about it says they never have seen me as an attention seeker.

But they get, confused and hurt.

So Now I tell them beforehand. I will tell my friends, "I will be disconnected during thise following weeks, so don't text me, I won't be able to see your texts."

This I do if there is a problem they are a part of indirectly, so its not their fault and my problems will not go away talking with them about it.

If its a problem involving them directly, I will more often then not bring it up with them after I have processed things because I have to speak my mind and get closure (gem moon).

One of my friends said He thinks I'm a very reliable person, and at the same time I can act erratic when I get emotionally stressed out and overloaded. So its good they can see that and they accept it.

I can find someone's natal aspects/placements or patterns I am familiar with. So when I experience a pattern or aspect/placement a few times, I get to really undertand it so then I recognise it in other people who have it easily.

Also I see synastry patters, for example I fall for men with so similar charts that it is impossible to be just a serial coincidence.. Because my friends have the same "coincidences" one after the other too.

Last but not least I've had people in the past predicting things that couldn't be predicted by logic. Like my mom's health problem that occured out of nowhere, my father's death, other things having to do with my platonic love life.. Keep in mind that I was new in those forums at the time and I didn't five away info about me as I did after a few years.

I remember a thread I posted a few years ago asking help for my Solar Return. A bunch of people would tell me that I would have my first relationship because the 5th and 7th H were occupied heavily by SR, transits and/or progressions. He was the only one explaining me why I wouldn't have one. He just knew how to combine all the charts together and weigh them correctly
while taking the natal chart itself into consideration too. The combination of aspects, placements and signs for just a chart is difficult by itself, imagine doing this for 5-6 charts (Solar Return, Lunar Return, Solar Arc, Transits, Progressions and midpoints) at the same time.. I won't reach his lever even in a hundred lives. I could go on and on about that man. His knowledge in astrology was phenomenal and he was young (If my memory serves me right around 30yo).
Since I haven't met someone like him after so many years I believe he was very special and I feel very lucky. I wish I could find a pro half as good as him (not that I've tried all of them). Whenever I mention him I'm getting emotional.

Anyway I mentioned all this to explain why I believe in astrology including predictive astrology. I wish though it wasn't as complicated.. It's not easy to decide how a placement will work without taking into consideration the whole chart. I know you may hear it everytime but it's true.

I have mentioned a lot of times my friends who are born a few days before I was born.
One of them has Mars, Venus and Jupiter in Keo square Pluto just like me with just a degree earlier. I have them in 2nd H, I have high self esteem, I love food and sweets A LOT, I don't feel safe if I don't have food, I have a fear dor not having to eat, I am quite lazy and I love money more than the average person. I have an obsession since I was very young. Many would say that my love for sweets are due to Venus-Jupiter, the need for money due to Pluto-Jupiter/Venus and me being on the sensual and slow side usually is said to be due to Pluto-Venus.
My friend that has Venus-Pluto and Mars-Pluto aspects tighter by an orb isn't like that at all. She has very high physical energy while I have low, she goes to the gym and eats healthy, she doesn't have high self esteem at all nor she feels unsafe when she doesn't have food. She doesn't particularly like sweets, she likes doing things and being busy on a daily basis. Her Venus, Mars and Jupiter. fall in her 6th H.

Can you see how my 2nd H planets have Taurus (2nd) traits while hers have Virgo (6th H) traits?

I do believe you can see everything actually by using astrology but learning how to use it correctly is a completely different story.

Thank you for sharing this with us! I think that having a harsh placement should be a motive for use to work on them more. I think of them as hints your chart may give you to say "This is where you need to put on more work. You should focus on this and that. Be careful when it comes to this and that". You know what I mean ?

It doesn't mean we're wrecked for the next life times. It doens't make sense to me.

An interesting thing you mentionned, is that "There are good and bad manifestations for every placement". I personally noticed, in my own experience, the more I'm focused on my "bad" placements, in a way that I say "OMG I have Moon square Saturn, I'm doomed to feel this way forever". The more it became a reality, I was feeling worse about it everyday. Bad things manifest as well. If not faster than good things. Because they're usually based on fear of things we can't control.

But the moment I changed the way I perceived my bad placements, everything followed.

That's why I think, "bad" placement = a chance to learn something. The hard way ? Yes. But it's worth it.

I didn't say they are not hard aspects. I said they are not bad in a way that it becomes somewhat your destiny to being/feeling a type of way, like your life is doomed to be a failure or something like that.

Everybody has harsh aspects. What is important, is how you perceive them. That was my point

Oh. That was so interesting to read. Thank you for sharing.

I understand. You brought up a different view to this as well. It really does manifest in a different way depending on the chart, and not just the birth chart I guess.

I don't know if the person you mentionned is still alive or not, but I'd like to see the thread you talked about. I think it would be very interesting to read.

You're on the right track.

So its good they can see that and they accept it.

i tell people i won't be around first too, but usually someone will try to bother me during anyway and then i'll feel obligated because "what if they really need something?" which can be kind of frustrating so sometimes i still feel like an ******* doing it if i stick to it

sometimes i just need to be free of anyone's input, not just one specific person, but everyone (except my fiancee i live with her and don't cut her off obviously) and also people have this habit of really dumping a lot of their feelings on me

and i get it people need someone to talk to and people like talking to me for whatever reason about that sort of **** , but it starts to wear me down i feel like i can feel them afterwards and it can be a little invasive at a certain point

normally though i can let **** like that slide, but if i'm not in a good head space the added strain of their feelings is too much for me

it must be a moon-uranus thing, in my case it's an easy aspect but seems like some of the results are similar

I wish I could show you all the threads I made there and the replies.
It was on astro.com in my mother language. There is literally just one page there and the that part of the forum is dead.
I lost everything he said to me those 3 years, I believe it was around 2011 till 2015.
Then he disappeared suddenly.
I hope he is doing ok. I wish I had taken screenshots, I could translate for you, he explained everything but it was too much for me at that point to take in. Now it's too late.

I remember a few things like him telling me at the thread I mentioned that if my chart wasn't like this (the 7th H particularly) a relationship would occur with all those things happening in Lunar, Solar Rerurn, Solar Arc, Transit and progressions.
Anyway I feel lucky when it comes to astrology for many reasons. But on the other hand I remember going even into chatrooms for years and chatting just for guessing planet signs, aspects and placements. Same thing I did with people I personally knew etc. So even though I disliked the fact that I had so many people in my life (because of my mom's and aunt's job) since I love solitude it was a pain in the @$$ but at least it was useful when it comes to astrology.
Oh and the fact tbat I have a good friend (I know her so good and she opens up to me for everything) born 3 days earlier than me it was a HUGE help for realising how important and underated house placements are.

My huge comment wasn't a direct reply to your question but I wanted to let you know why I do believe that astrology really works but it's more complicated than just a interpeting a few aspects.
Keep on reading and comparing charts, you just need to know the basics of what each planet (its signs and houses) represent.. you'll eventually figure out many things.
