This is my proposition. First of all they already state on the websites that each animal of the Chinese zodiac is related to a certain zodiac sign. But they never said that each chinese animal actual WERE the 12 zodiac signs...... i think it was just saying they were similar....But now that I've looked at some people on my facebook and looked at their chinese zodiac sign and compared it to the related astrological sign. I think I can actually see cardinal, mutable, or fixed qualities in the group of people of certain animals. For example I looked at several monkey people, and they all seemed firey, outgoing, AND mutable. How can I tell if a person looks mutable? i dont know, my intuition, plus it looks like their thoughts are ending ideas. Like they aren't starting things but ending things.... that's just how it seems to me. I also looked at a few people who were Pigs in chinese astrology, and realized most of them were very similar to scorpio, as they had kind of intense dominating eyes. I looked at myself as a horse, and i realized that I do actually seem to have a mutable quality around me. So that is my proposition. It isn't fact, but it is what I'm coming to believe. The Chinese yearly cycle is just another cycle of the zodiac signs. That changes each year somehow. So what do you guys think? Do you agree? I know it's hard to test it for yourself unless you have tons of pictures of people with their chinese zodiac animal to compare with eachother. But let me know what you think IP: Logged |

Nice try? I was stating the same thing. But I only heard that they were related to the signs, I never read that they WERE the signs, which is the proposition I am making. Who thinks that the 12 animals actually ARE the 12 signs?IP: Logged |

If you've looked at my chart,I just want to know what you think about this: I can say with confidence that I am no longer ruled by mercury/saturn anymore- I am ruled by the sun. I used to be so shy to the point of never talking. But that is no longer the case. Now I think I focus more on having an important place in the world. (By trying to prove interesting facts) So if you don't believe in my progression theory that your natal chart progresses by 1 degree a year (which if it did my ASC would be conjunct my sun right now) then I don't see why not to believe. alright i have a confession. i just looked up what some peoples sign is that i was looking at, and they were roosters when i thought they were monkeys, and i was seeing monkey qualities in them. so i admit, maybe i cant tell characteristics in the western zodiac with those in the chinese zodiac...... i dont know.. i was just trying to see if they were the exact same, cause i wanted answers, but i just dont knowIP: Logged |

I think that your mars in gemini is thankful for your merc & s-turn. I've met a few people with mars in gemini and they have an uncanny ability to go insane by themselves in an empty house. IP: Logged |

I just read Lau's Handbook of Chinese Astrology which is a great introduction book to the subject and indeed she does pair Western and Eastern Zodiac Combinations based on Sun and Animal Year Sign. However I would caution against directly putting Western Astrological concepts like Modularities into Chinese Astrology as the systems are overall vastly different. Which unfortunately Lau does to an extent in her book. However I cut slack from her because she wrote the book back in the 70s when the West was just beginning to take an interest in Astrology along with the fact its an introductory book, she's trying to make certain concepts like "Secret Animal" (which she dubs as ascendant in her book) much easier for Westerners to understand, and above all I learn so much of the basics of the 12 Chinese Signs. But before we bother trying to combine the systems I think one should at least have a develop a deep understanding of and develop a genuine interest in both the Tropical and Chinese systems.
