Menstruation.. everybody's "favourite" topic...

I have realized for some time now that I always start to menstruate on the date the full moon begins. I have had interruptions in my cycle (been on and off birth control pills) and I find it always falls back to the lunar cycle.

Do many other women experience this? Is there something in our charts that would explain this?

I have just peaked an interest in this. I have started doing a little bit of research but am wondering what the wonderful people of Lindaland think of this with all their fantastic astro knowledge.

Merci

I tend to switch between the new and full moon. Eclipses will frequently interfere with my normal cycle as will big transits to my natal chart.

I did wonder to what extent the natal moon and aspects to it played in the overall cycle and if harsh aspects would show problems with the dreaded monthlys.

Very strange - I was just questioning whether the strength of my Aries moon (in comparison with the other planets in my Natal chart) made me more psychotic than most, at "that time" of the month! Then I saw your thread.

You made me look back, and while I don't get my monthly visitor right on the full moon, it happened 2 days after in the month of July, and I think it's coming tomorrow! I will be watching, henceforth...

my periods are irregular, but i heard (was it from my mom??) when you start when it's waxing, it's heavy and when it's waning, it's less. never really consciously paid attention, but our earthly bodies are so in tune with the moon (i'm thinking the turtles laying eggs... ), i'd believe that. anyone noticed it?

I always menstruate with the full moon too! I even looked in to it recently but only found information on women that menstruate with the new moon, but it's always the full moon for me!

I used to as well! I find my cycle fluctuates depending on the females I am with....I guess I am sensitive to pheromones!(I track it so I know it exactly)
Now I am almost back to that lunar cycle... any day now.

I find it very interesting that the lunar cycle (29.5 days) and the menstrual cycle (28 days) are roughly the same. Though like clockwork, I feel the exact same thing every time. It usually starts out that I can't sleep at night. Sure enough, I'll look out the window and the moon is almost full and within two days aunt flow will be in town. I've always considered the moon to have a pull on me. I find it very interesting that a lot of you have noticed this too...

I'm just surprised there isn't more information out there. A lot of the evidence I read say it is simply coincidence...

Supposedly you ovalate when the moon is in the same lunar phase as your own. Also you can determine your baby's sex depending on if the moon is in a masculine sign or feminine...

I had no idea. Thanks for the info!

I calculated my lunar phase and it turns out it is:

Third Quarter Moon
On the Lunar Calendar: 7 to 10 ½ days after the Full Moon
Degree: 270-315 degrees ahead of the Sun
Inner Directive: to reassess how things are done

I could be wrong as I have never calculated it before. My Sun is in Virgo and is at 27 degrees and Moon is in Sag at 16 degrees.

I used to have periods like clockwork. Almost always 27 days and in the early years, when I first had them, like clockwork the month of may would always not happen. Interestingly, that would have put the Sun very likely in (perhaps wide, I didn't keep track of them back then exactly because they were very regular) conjunction with my nMoon at 6 degrees Gemini.

I did always have heavy periods and period pains too. I can even feel, without the aid of those ovulation tests or body temperature tests, when I ovulating. My period pains always come by a week before the actual event and only stop a week after the bleeding stops, and I do have a period that lasts for about 5 days, so you can imagine that my periods and I are often not on good terms.

I take the pill now, but even they cause problems. I had been of and on them before and rather than regulating my periods, which is what they generally prescribe them for to young girls in particular, they actually make them more irregular. Even after going off them, my periods are impossibly irregular and, speaking of the pill: I'm on it now, but for some reason I feel as if I'm going to get my periods any day now, even though I just had them. Have had those typical abdominal cramps for the past... Well, ever since my last cycle was through, really! And I don't really like the alternate option to explain why I'm not regular. Seriously, why do I take the pill again?

Anyway, I have tried before to time my periods on the lunar cycle, but exactly because my cycle was shorter than the lunar one, there was never a consistent thing that linked them both together. I never had them during Gemini moons all the time or during... Well, whatever comes RIGHT after full moon, my Moon is 3 degrees after being a full moon.

Anyway, neither of the two cycles was ever short enough to match up with my periods. What I have found though is that it feels different when I ovulate from either my left or right ovary (they take turns, according to my biology teacher, with every woman), that every woman adapts to the women in their environment (when I lived at home, my periods were close to my mother's, when I worked in retail with predominantly women, you could see a trend that most women had their periods around the same time frame) and that being sensitive to hormonal changes and having a long menstral period means you're very fertile. Kind of ironic since it is my sensitivity to hormones which forced me to get off the pill every time before.

Anyway, for me there's no real connection to the lunar cycle from my own cycle, but interesting to know is that the connection between menstrual periods and the lunar cycle has been made ages ago already. Menstrual = (not literally, but derived) monthly, month = moon

Aya - I have tons of problems with contraceptive pills, they'll only give me a week a month without bleeding. I have yet another type to try, they're sat in the kitchen but I'm giving my body a break for another month before starting them.

I am seriously fertile. 5th house moon in aries but its badly aspected, conjuncts chiron and opposes moon, and its the focal point of a thors hammer... I'm nearly 38 and in some ways I'll be glad to hit the menopause.

The funny thing is that I have an empty 5th house and it is in Aries. Mars is in Capricorn but it is in the more fertile 2nd house, but still.

I've always had quite some success with just calculating my ovulation and avoiding making love at that point, exactly because my periods were always regular and because I could feel myself ovulating. It was when I stopped taking the pill and became even more irregular then I was on it, and because I was on anti depressants at the time and really just lost touch with sensing my body, that I got pregnant of which my little boy is the result now.

Anyway, my Moon is an important focal point in my chart, which is about all I can say to try to explain why I am quite fertile. My body does seem to work within limits though. I can really only get pregnant when I had intercourse in the days surrounding my ovulation, or at least I can say for sure that I can't during any of the other days in the cycle. So, I could conclude that my ovaries perhaps work with a strict regime and that the menstrual pains that I feel are already a sign that my womb is purging the egg. So I might be either fertile or not but my body is basically telling me when I'm not by giving me damn cramps and kidney pains. Woohoo. The proof that I might be fertile is really circumstantial and told to me by specialists - gyns, nurses, lactation specialists etc - that basically the fact that I am sensitive to hormonal chance, my derived sensitivity to contraception pills and the fact that my menstruation is quite long in days and severe in... well, bleeding, all point to me being very fertile. I tend to say that I am, but I'm really sitting on the fence on that one. I've been extremely lucky in the past to not get pregnant with only the counting method I mentioned before and no other form of contraception, and got pregnant that I know of twice (excluding the possibility of early miscarriages which could have been mistaken for early or late periods, or just irregular ones) so... Well, maybe it's a representation of my chart, with the combination of signifiers of fertility and those of less fertility or even infertility. Aries and Capricorn don't strike me as fertile signs, but I suspect someone with a strong Moon in their charts could be, etc...

Someone has also once told me that Sun opposite Ceres would be very fertile too. Of course, my Ceres is in Taurus too, and that's a fertile sign, so... Anyway, I digress. Seriously, I'm going way too much off topic, sorry guys!

It does make me think that menstrual periods might be more connected to the natal charts than the current transits of the Moon or maybe that's just me!

The same with all women in the world

I'm trying to conceive now and keeping track of my temperatures. It's all pretty fascinating. I've realized I'm very lucky at 39 to have very regular 27-28 day cycles and I ovulate on day 14-15 of every cycle.

M period doesn't necessarily coincide with the full moon, though. I am due to start on Tuesday which is four days after the full moon. Next month I'll only be a day off but by December I'll be more than several days off.

Well, there are some doctors and nurses who argue you could get pregnant at any stage of your cycle and warn people to just be safe at any time, but they could start from the idea that most women have irregular cycles and could have overlapping cycles for example.

Well, I'm not a professional in that respect, my biology course stated the same, that women can only get pregnant in the few days surrounding the ovulation and since that seems to occur with me I've no reason to think otherwise... Apart from those docs and nurses who claim you could conceive at any time of course!

PS: good luck with conceiving! I hope it'll happen soon!
