Im a little confused about rulers.

Starting with house rulers

1st 2nd 3rd 4th
Aries Taurus Gemini Cancer

5th 6th 7th 8th
Leo Virgo Libra Scorpio

9th 10th 11th 12th
Sagittarius Capricorn Aquarius Pisces

Sign Rulers

Aries Taurus Gemini Cancer
Mars Venus Mercury Moon

Leo Virgo Libra Scorpio
Sun Mercury Venus Pluto

Sagittarius Capricorn Aquarius Pisces
Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune

Okay so lets talk about my 8th house
My 8th house is Aries.
Mars rules Aries
Mars is in the 3rd house (Sagittarius)
So my 3rd would be in my 8th?

The signs are ruled by the planets. So when you say your 3rd is in your 8th you would be saying Mercury is in the 8th house because your third house cusp is Virgo. In this case your 3rd house ruler is in the 5th.

I see two different approaches for understanding your 8th house.

1. 8th house ruler (Mars) @ 10 Sagittarius

2. 8th house ruler in the 3rd house.

Here's the rundown:
1st - by Aqua Merc in 5th
2nd - by Pisces Venus in 6th
3rd - by Scorp Pluto in 2nd
4th - by Aries Jup in 8th
5th - by Sadge Saturn in 4th
6th - by Sadge Uranus in 4th
7th - by Cap Neptune in 4th
8th - by Sadge Mars in 3rd
9th - by Pisces Venus in 6th
10th - by Aqua Merc in 5th
11th - by Aries Moon in 8th
12th - by Aqua Sun in 5th

The rulers carry influence from one house to another. So the ruler of the 7th in the 4th you may seek nurturing from relationship *just based on that factor* but the nurturing is based on building a stable foundation together, a dream that is solid and won't wither (Neptune in Cap), that may be an ideal. You have to play w.the associations til you find what fits for you. The aspects modify how well this can be achieved when you don't put much effort into the matter. When you do put effort, then the results will be more beneficial or at least the negative potentials will be lessened to a certain degree.
If you want to find the major tension spots look for the sq or opp and see what houses they rule. One of yours in Sun sq Pluto, Sun rules H12, Pluto rules H3. Sun sq Pluto can be a controlling aspect it can also point to the father. With Sun ruling over H12 of secrets/self undoing and Pluto ruling over siblings/early education/communications maybe there was some manipulation there by a sibling or paternal figure or someone at school, some secret that you have to carry, and because of that you're very careful in controlling what info gets out to who as a way to try to gain strength/build up your ego (Sun) against further attempts at intrusion or control. That's one possible interpretation. Each sign/house/aspect carries with it a wide range of associations. A great easy to read reference for this is The Rulership Book by Rex E. Bills.

Let me try one more time..

My 6th house:
Venus = Libra
Libra = 2nd house
So my 2nd house ruler is in the 6th?
