I am getting the newletter from Cosmitec, and this time they had something about the Solar Return, so I thought I am giving it a go.

This is my SR chart (without natal - of course I`d have to check the cross connection also).

"One of the first things to do is look at the solar return Ascendant. Matters of love often become a focus when the Ascendant is in Leo (sign of love) or Libra (sign of relationships and partnerships in a wide sense).
"
Doesn`t apply to me.

"The Sun in the solar return houses, shows the area where you can shine or where you can identify yourself during the year."
SR Sun in 1st house.

As a matter of fact the SR ASC is conjunct my natal ASC by 5 degrees, so the housecontribution stays the same.
Maybe it means that this is a year where I am very much "MYSELF".

"The Sun in the 5th (especially) and 7th house can be related to love and romance. This is the more so if the Sun trines the Ascendant from the 5th house."
Doesn`t apply to me.

I have Jupiter, mean BML and asteroid Karma in 5th house though, all squeezed together being conjunct each other.
Ruler of the Solar Return chart is in 5th house.

"Next comes the position of Venus, planet of relationships. If Venus is intercepted, there may be a secret affair going on, or you may feel fenced in (triangular relationships).

Retrograde Venus denotes that some relationships or partnerships (co-workers, family members, friends, lovers,...) will end, resulting in people leaving your world."

SR Venus is in Capricorn in 2nd house, not intercepted, so no secret affairs I think.
Her placement in 2nd house "talks" to the chartruler in Taurus though.

"All double whammies in which the ruler of the 5th house is involved, may point to where you may find love during the year (for example the ruler of the 5th house in the 11th house and the ruler of the 11th house in the 5th may bring love among your friends)."
No Double whammy here.

Though a triangle-sequence. lol

Ruler of 1st house in 5th house. Ruler of 5th house in 9th house. Ruler of 9th house in 1st house.
Interesting.

"If the Dark Moon (or Black Moon) Lilith (the mean apogee of the Moon) is in the 5th house, chances are you will experience love's sorrow or a rupture. This position is seldom a good one."

I have this one. Naturally.

"Check the most exact midpoints (45° dial/list; orb 0°00' - 0°01') and look for any midpoint in which Venus is found. These one(s) will work out profoundly during the solar return year.

Especially look at the following midpoints: Sun/Moon, Venus/Mars, Moon/Venus, Moon/Mars, Mars/Jupiter, Venus/Uranus."

midpoints with orb: 0°00 - 0°01 (this is really tight. lol)

Jupiter= Moon/ASC 0°01

love-connected midpoints as mentioned (orb: 1°00)

MC= Sun / Moon - 45
Pluto = Venus/Mars - 22
Neptune=Moon/Venus - 49
Neptune = Venus/Uranus - 13
Moon=Venus/Neptune-52
Moon=Venus/ASC 1-00
Venus=Sun/Neptune -22
Uranus=Mercury/Venus -21
ASC= Venus/Pluto -27
MC = Venus/Neptune -18

others within 0°30
Sun=Pluto/Node - 25
Moon=Sun/Uranus-17
Mars=Uranus/ASC -27
Jupiter=Sun/Mercury -05
Jupiter=Mars/Node -20
Jupiter=ASC/MC -19
Saturn=Sun/Neptune -03
Uranus=Node/Vertex -28
Neptune=Sun/jupiter -21
Neptune = SAturn/Uranus - 26
Pluto = Mars/Saturn - 09
Pluto = Node/BML -21
ASC = Mercury/Neptune -26
ASC = Saturn/Pluto -14
MC= Sun /Uranus - 17
MC = SAturn/Neptune -06

"Angular planets are very important. The more a planet conjuncts one of the angles (Ascendant, MC, Descendant or IC), the more the planet becomes important. If Saturn and/or Uranus are conjunct an angle, expect a separation, breakup or sorrow"

MERCURY, ruler of DESC, on ASC
true BML on DESC
MOON, ruler of 8th house and Vertex, on MC exact
URANUS, ruler of 3rd house of siblings, on IC

"Planets that conjunct, square or oppose the Moon too are very important and will prominently mark the year. Saturn will bring limitations, sorrow while Venus may bring enjoyable encounters (if no adverse aspects can be found). The Moon here acts like a pointer and should not be delineated in the aspect analysis. Only stick with the basic and archetypal meaning of the planet that is in aspect with the solar return Moon.
"

angular T-square of
Moon on MC
opposite Uranus on IC
square Sun in 1st house

with "relief-planet" Mercury on ASC:
Moon sextile ASC
Uranus trine ASC and Mercury

additional Moon-aspects:

YOD of
Neptune/Chiron in 3rd house
sextile
Jupiter/BML in 5th house
quinkunx Moon in 10th house

with Uranus on IC being the focal point of the Yod-figure

Grand trine in EARTH:
Moon in Virgo in 10th house
trine
Venus in Capricorn in 2nd house
trine
true BML in Taurus in 6th house, but conjunct DESC

something I noticed:
mutual REception between
Saturn exalted in Libra in 11th house
and
Venus in Capricorn in 2nd house

but involved in a T-square of

SAturn in Libra in 11th
opposite
Jupiter/mean BML in Taurus in 5th
square
Venus in Capricorn in 2nd

Ceridwen,

Shall I tell you something really interesting?

A few hours prior to your starting this thread, I had wanted to understand solar returns mostly because a very close friend is facing some obstacles in her personal/professional life. I didn't have much time but I looked it up and couldn't find a way to interpret the chart.

So I silently sent a wish to the Universe asking for help in understanding and doing solar return interps.

The next time I had a few mins. I logged onto LL and the first thing I notice is this thread!!

I think this is a perfect example of how the Universe uses people, situations, circumstances, to provide us with the information we seek.

It's time now for me to thank you and the Universe for being ever so attentive.

Later I'm going to study the example of your chart and maybe even have some intelligent ques.

LOL

What a timing!

As a matter of fact minutes before posting it here I wasn`t even interested in Solar Returns!
And then it suddenly hit me. Bamm!
Same happened recently with composite. All at once i felt the need to dig into them. Strange.

Shall I tell you something strange?

As you can see my Solar Return has ASC on 2 Sagittarius with DESC-ruler ocnjunct ASC and Uranus on IC, right?

(funny thing is I couldn`t understand why the ecclipse hit me as it did, and then I see that my solar return ASC-DESC is so close to it. lol)

Now get this!

Crush no 1 (and mighty karmic baggage I might add) has

SR MC on 25 Pisces with Uranus conjunct
(so his and my MC-IC-axis are switched, and for both it seems to be a year of important changes).

It gets even freakier.

Guy 2:
ASC on 7 Sagittarius with DESC-ruler Mercury on 6 SAg conjunct ASC!°!!

Guy 3:
ASC on 6 Sagittarius with DESC-ruler Mercury on 5 Sagittarius conjunct ASC!!!

he also has Uranus on IC like me (just for him IC is in aries - seems like a new beginning for him as well).

I mean what the

Wow!

Just been glancing at several SR charts from past years, and every single time when I lost someone very dear to me (sometimes through death, sometimes just went away) Saturn or Neptune or even Chiron was close to an angle I think!

Death of my great grandmother:
Chiron conjunct DESC exactly

Jupiter was conjunct ASC with 5 degree orb though (that year my yongest brother has been born, who actually has Moon-Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Sagittarius. lol)

In that year SAturn was conjunct Pluto (3) squaring Moon in Capricorn!

death of my paternal grandfather:
Chiron conjunct ASC (5)
Saturn conunct DESC (3)
Sun conjunct DESC (4)
Uranus conjunct DESC (1)
Mercury, ASC-ruler, conjunct DESC (4)

Saturn opposite Chiron
and
Moon conjunct Mars
and
Venus opposite Jupiter

(I also fell in love for the first time, but it was not overly happy)

The year of my "dark night of the soul":
Pluto conjunct MC exact and widely conjunct Venus (6)
Neptune conjunct ASC exact
Uranus conjunct ASC (3)
Moon widely conjunct IC (6)

A Kite figure of
Neptune/Uranus on ASC, Jupiter in 8th, moon in 3rd and Venus in 9th.

Exact Moon-Venus-opposition.

WEll, it was not all bad that year. lol

The year my maternal grandfather had a stroke:
Pluto conjunct DESC (3)
(Pluto was conjunct Venus as well)

Uranus conjunct MC

There was also a Moon-Saturn-conjunction making a T-square with Mars and Sun

the year he died:
Saturn conjunct DESC (2)
Neptune conjunct IC (2)

the year my oldest friend`s boyfriend died in a motorcycle crash:

nothing on the angles

but
Saturn in 11th house of friends opposing Pluto (5)

the year of my "great depression"
SAturn conjunct ASC (4)

fixed Grand cross

of SAturn on 10 Leo in 1st
opposite
Neptune on 15 Aqua in 7th
square
Jupiter in 10 Scorpio in 4th
square
Mars in 8 Taurus in 10th

exact Venus-Chiron-conjunction in 6th house close to DESC

Sun-Pluto-conjunction in 5th house

A weepy confined Moon as ruler of 12th house in 12th house with no outlet (aspects)

I skip SR mainly because I check it out when year is done.

This year I have SR Leo Asc and Sun in first,and I can't confess to leo-sign-of-love magic (not even with Rx Mars transit sextiling nVenus) - one would say lovely opportunities,no it isn't the case: yet (who knows what summer may bring )
As for SR Sun in H1 - very true,I am very myself this year...(could be also the fact that my pMoon in Scorp is separating from H1 pPluto,and I shed that Scorp,introspective vibe)
