What sign do you think is the most suicidal/ likely to commit suicide. Just a thought that came to my mind. I've heard Cancer and Cap a lot and Libra the least, but I know many Aries that are suicidal too... Opinions?

It's more complex than a Sun sign.

I agree that you must look further in the chart. I've heard many things though, but long ago I think I read something that mentioned Virgos as most likely, and Sagittarians as least likely. I can see how for Sagittarians since they are considered the rarer signs people are born under, thus the number will be low anyway but completely unsure of Virgo. I'd look for a chart pattern or a certain transit.

Astrological birth signs in suicide: hypothesis or speculation?
Salib E.
Liverpool University Consultant Psychiatrist, Hollins Park Hospital, Warrington.

Abstract

Astrology is no longer regarded as a science by many, because its claims are almost impossible to test empirically in controlled laboratory conditions and it can not meet the scientific need to be reproducible. However, the majority of those who read their 'star signs' can identify aspects of their personality in what they read and it is possible that this may influence their attitudes and actions. The literature has neglected astrological signs as a possible predictor of suicide ideation. To see whether astrological birth signs are associated with suicide and the method used, data was collected from the Public Health Department in North Cheshire representing all the Cheshire Coroner's verdicts of suicide, and open verdicts, in all deceased aged 60 and above between 1989 and 2000. The observed occurrence of deaths due to natural causes, and suicide, in relation to birth signs did not differ significantly from what would be expected from chance. However, the distribution of suicide by hanging appeared significantly higher in those with a birth sign of Virgo and lowest in Sagittarius and Scorpio. The distribution of violent and non-violent suicides in relation to star signs showed higher occurences of violent death in persons born in the summer months.

Anyway if going based on natal, Saturn and Neptune, and sometimes Pluto, figure more heavily than a Sun sign from what I've seen.

I c0nsidered suicide twice when I was younger. Got a c0ntainer with pink colored pills, ann0unced that I would die if things didn't go my way, strutted into my r0om and banged the do0r on people's face. I decided to go slow with it and unlock the do0r in case s0me0ne chose to rescue me. My m0m came in after my 2nd pill and delivered this l0ng speech on how dumb I could get to try suicide with lo0se m0ti0n pills. The sec0nd time was after a break up. I had decided to starve myself to death because it's painless but by night I realised fo0d's m0re attractive than an ex. I then to0k myself out on a date.

My M0on's in Virgo in the 8th, sext 10h pluto and trine 12h Uranus/Nept.

I'm a Sag btw. And yes, I just can't go through with my suicidal ideas. I see it as a c0wardly act. Sec0nd, because I can't remain 'depressed' for l0ng, change my mind frequently and tend to find s0mething positive in the worst of the worst situati0ns.

S0me0ne I knew c0mmitted suicide last year. Jumped fr0m the 7th flo0r of her building. She's a gem. Reas0n - her bf dumped her when he learnt she was pregnant. They closed the case calling it an accident, slip and fall.

A guy I kn0w tried c0mmitting suicide 4 times within the past one year. He was saved all 4 times. First two times by drug overdose, 3rd time by dr0wning and the 4th was terrible. He jumped fr0m the 5th flo0r of a building. Survived but badly injured! He's a Scorpio. Reas0n - dumped by his gf. He couldn't get over her.

My close friend tried c0mmitting suicide when she was 14. Method - slit her wrist. Reas0n - dumped by a leo. It's been 5 years and she still likes him. Sign - scorp Sun/venus/merc/pluto, aqua m0on/asc/saturn. Empty 6h/8h. Cap Ura and nept in the 12h.

I'm sorry to hear that , may his soul RIP.

I relate suicide to the 12H, and Scorpio-the famous old myth about how a scorpion stings itself with the venom when it's ringed with fire.

I think a lot of water will represent suicidal person, just because of all those emotions and lackof stability, also capricorns.

I've been hospitalized 3 times for that reason.
I'm a scorpio, libra rising, with moon, venus and mercury in sagittarius, mars in gemini.

My saturn, uran and neptune are in capricorn conjucting IC, and i think that position is pretty connected to mental health.

I tried the suicide thing once when I was about 13 or 14. This was after I went to live with my then pain in the ass Leo-Scorpio dad. The plan: OD on sleeping pills. I could only afford six, and as you can guess I woke up the next morning.

Something changed in me that morning, I felt reborn. I was late for school, but didn't care. I wore my bestest Sunday outfit to class, and didn't care. I wasn't afraid of him anymore. All the nagging little thing I used to stress over, suddenly didn't matter.

Hmmm, maybe I did die.

Sun in Gemini, here.

BeautifulDisaster's dad: just like I thought, Neptune in the 8th house.

Neptune in 8th house makes death seem like an attractive solution to life's problems.

I have the same aspect. And yes I have thought about suicide many times. It just so happens that I also have Saturn in that house, which prevents me from actually doing the deed. Yeah for Saturn!!!!!

Liz Greene goes on quite a bit on suicide with neptune in the 8th. I have a book an astrology and crime that has a ton of suicides in it. I see neptune in the 8th like 60-70% of the time.
I have neptune in the 8th squaring my chart ruler venus and also jupiter. I tried to commit suicide twice...the second time I actually died and was brought back...I havent tried again...

My brother "accidentally" overdosed on painkillers less than 2 yrs ago.

... he had a lot of Scorpio placements:
Sun
Moon
Merc
Neptune h10

(He was a drug addict in his youth so I feel certain he knew what he was doing but the coroner was nice enough to say it was accidental for life insurance purposes for his children.)

Aqua Sun
Gem Moon

I have Cancer Mars in the 8th in the 29th degree, opposition Neptune. It strikes me as interesting since a few have said here that 8H Neptune makes one more likely to be suicidal. So I wonder if my 8H Mars opposite Neptune makes me inclined to have suicidal ideation to solve my problems, which is true for me. (I won't ever act on these thoughts and I'm taking depression medication soon...)

I have a lot of Scorpio placements too so beneath my Libra Sun I have a lot of water in my chart and it can make me very up and down emotionally.

I thought about it back when I was angsty, but (thanks to my pisces influence no doubt) destroying my physical body never seemed like it would be enough. i didn't see the point of it unless you could destroy your entire body/mind/soul/presence
i was a little intense...lol

First, @ BeautifulDisaster and all others who've lost someone close, my condolences.

Out of the people that I knew who committed suicide, one was a Cancer, one was a Gemini, and the other was a Sagittarius.

I wonder, too, if there is a difference between signs most likely to consider suicide/want to commit suicide or try to do it and signs that actually go through with it.

I would think that water/earth might be more likely to think about it/try it, but fire might be more likely to actually complete the act, since they may be less likely to admit that they need help (due to pride/wearing an outer mask of being happy/fun-loving) and might be more impulsive. However, I could be wrong.
