MWAAHAHAHAHAI won't lie... I thought it was the latter. But yes, I've met two female Leo (Sun) nurses. Actually, I know a few more female Leos who are entering the medical field, though they are in Pre-natal care and Sports medicine. My sis who is a Leo rising is interested in aqcuiring a Master's in Nursing. Me personally... I am not interested in the health field, save for alternative medicine and massage therapy. Those careers appeal to my Virgo MC, I think. But only as a last resort. IP: Logged |

I toyed around with the idea of trying to go into medicine for a long while - AS A DOCTOR.I told a guy I knew at the time and he tried to steer me towards nursing instead, and I felt like he'd just insulted me. Typically Leos like to call the shots. IP: Logged |

I swear I'm a Leo at heart, because I so understand how insulting that would be (not just because of that, but I have so many thinking patterns and personality traits that are more Leo than Aries.) I hope you gave him a reality check. Yes, my Leo "associate" shall we say, wants to go into nursing. I just found it odd because out of the three fire signs, Leos have no empathy or the least amount anyway. IP: Logged |

Nah, you're on your own on that one. Leo is ruled by the heart and is actually known for being 'soft' when you get past the super-dignified exterior stuff. Sure, we don't take much crap off of people, but there's a difference between that and actually not feeling anything for other human beings. We just don't 'do' taking orders and dumping bedpans. I lived with a sun/moon/ris Leo and she was into healing but more in a spiritual sense...she has a studio and teaches Chi Kung. Now that I think of it she does at home care as well. She worked with a friends father who was dying. IP: Logged |

Gotta agree here... As a Leo I have trouble turning off my empathy, and tbh, my Aries friends have no trouble with doing this. Their best advice for someone is often to "get over it", something I'd never dream of telling anyone. Same for Sagittarius. As a matter of fact, the Sags in my life aren't really well noted for empathy in general. I realize I can act like a doosh sometimes but it's not really out of a lack of empathy. It's more out of focusing on my own pain with an obliviousness to what I might be doing wrong to that person. Sometimes all it takes is for that person to slap me across the face and say "Hey, Lazy. That was messed up bla bla bla" and I will usually apologize, if I am shown I was wrong. I also think it may be because of my empathy I would not make a great nurse. I would burst into tears every time I saw someone close to me in the hospital, for surgery and in rest homes. I feel like you must have objectivity in such a situation. IP: Logged |

I'm not a Leo sun but I am a Leo Rising (Leo decan, so it's very strong)I am currently on a year out from training to be a nurse, due to resume next year. I am a Pisces sun which i realise is an obvious sign for nursing. However my closest friend and fellow coleague on the course was a Leo sun. I'd say the only difference in hers and my approach was that I had a more gentle and calming influence on the patients, whereas she could be a bit "drill sergeant" in her approach. Either way we both get the job done! ------------------ Lion~Bull~Fish IP: Logged |

I really, really I don't like Sun sign generalizations, they turn into passive-aggressive bashing sessions...This is truth...: quote: Originally posted by StacyLewis: Nah, you're on your own on that one. ...as is this: quote: As a Leo I have trouble turning off my empathy, and tbh, my Aries friends have no trouble with doing this. The other two fire signs aren't even really known for their empathetic natures, Leos actually are - we are "The Heart", we can't help it if we are the center of the universe as well :-P And honestly, empathy isn’t really a great trait to have as a nurse unless it can be turned off like a switch. Compassion is necessary, but empathy can mess with one’s judgment and ability to take orders, something that nurses have to do all day. All of the nurses I know are pretty hardened and a touch jaded, not the softies some might think they are. They deal with a bunch of crap, just tough stuff all day, taking it to heart would mess with their ability to help save people. Perhaps Leos are too empathetic and passionate for nursing? I am a Leo who cannot watch a tv show or movie where someone is crying and/or being emotional without crying herself, let alone be in the company of someone who is crying! I had to turn my head while watching Millionaire Matchmaker the other day because someone was crying and I know my eyes would well up with tears(I also have Moon conjunct Pluto in the 8th, maybe that has something to do with it). But this: quote: We just don't 'do' taking orders and dumping bedpans
Hit the nail on the head... I do know a few Leos who are nurses - in particular I am thinking of, two female and one male. The two females are mental health RNs, they mainly go to meetings with the psychiatrists to help patients regulate their medications and they give the occasional injectable med. It is almost like social work with needles, way more glamorous than schleping around a hospital having a doctor yell at them all day, and they still get to help people. The male actually worked his way through college (BS in nursing) by working as a home health aide. If I remember correctly though, has several Virgo planets... ETA: Speaking of social work, I know more than a few Leos who are social workers. Less mess, equal help. IP: Logged |

Oh my god, did I rock your world when I said Leos have no empathy? It's just my observation, and it was related to my topic since, duh, empathy has a lot to do with going into the healing profession. I'm not sitting here demanding everyone agree with me and in fact enjoy hearing not everyone has had the same s*itty experience with Leos that I have. Nothing was passive aggressive about what I said, and nobody else is even "bashing" Leos.

almost every leo male or female i have met has expressed some desire to be in nursing/caregiving, but none have actually done it. it could be that they see themselves as caregivers and helpful in nature, but that's an illusion - how could they not be good at anything, right. the one leo i know who did try it gave it up fairly quick, saying it was too emotionally difficult. i would bet that a leo who really finds a home in this field has a lot of water placementsIP: Logged |

That's true I think! My cousin who is a Leo has moon in Pisces. I think that placement would definitely help going into nursing. It was ironic because the same week he told me that's the field he was going into, I learned the other Leo I know was going back to school for his BSN as well. That Leo is all fire though, so I don't know how well he'll like it. IP: Logged |

Hannaramaa, After seeing the clarification post that included "...my Leo "associate" shall we say, wants to go into nursing. I just found it odd because..." the original post now reads more like "Can you believe a Leo wants to get into nursing?", under the guise of "Tell me about Leos who are nurses..." That's just my observation.Starmoon, You have a point here. I have a deep need to help others so I decided to get into healthcare for a living. I decided that I wanted to stay on the positive and preventative side of health and I knew that nursing would stir up my emotions so one of my masters degrees is in health education. It is all about healthy lifestyles, prevention, well-being, positive-positive-positive. IP: Logged |

Whatever, I don't want to waste time arguing about it. One statement hardly qualifies as "bashing" in my opinion and you clearly disagree. I'm okay with that. IP: Logged | |
