I think it was Suzanne White who made that observation.

And guys born in the Year of the Pig adore their mothers, she says.

Do you think that's true?

All my post is just qouted in a passive form from Linda Goodman's books.Virgo's true ruler is supposed to be Vulcan. Now you can search the web for Vulcan's story but in short here it is. Vulcan was supposed to surpass even Zeus (King of Gods) physical and practical attributes. He was the first of Zeus's sons from Hera his lawfully wedded wife. But (although he later exceeded Zeus's practical usefulness) he was born ugly and deformed. Then Hera threw him out of the palace when he was born. Vulcan when he grew up designed a chair for Hera upon her request (she did not know he was her grown up son). It was a trap and she was imprisoned in that chair.
When Gods asked him to release her he said he had no mother. Eventually Zeus married him to Venus the most beautiful Goddess.
So you see even though a Virgo's mother might not have ever thrown him when he was a baby but the planets cause some degree of resentment in him/her against the mother but because Vulcan took sides with his mother in her arguments with Zeus he is also depicted as an epitome of Motherly Love. This is one of the conflicting emotions a virgo faces due to the mutability of his sign. Being a virgo myself I do too.

Not everyone is so fortunate to grow up in a house where they feel safe and nurtured, emotionally, mentally, physically. We may be fortunate to grow up with parents, a roof over our heads, food to eat, the safety and comfort of a bed at night, and someone who won't let any physical harm come to us. I feel incredibly lucky in that regard. But if you were to ask me, "does your family feel like a family?" I would reply, no. I don't feel like I have ever had that emotional support that families are 'supposed' to give. I don't complain, that much. I just accept what is and move on.
