There is someone in my life who has my Sun in their 8th house and they also have their North Node conjunct my Sun. From what I've read, this should be a powerful combination - yet for some reason they seem to be resisting on some level - or going the opposite direction. Can anyone help explain this to me?

I don't know why they'd be resisting without seeing the charts but 8th house overlays are very powerful. The two examples I can think of now (who are in a relationship) the house person can be very jealous and controlling over their partner. I feel very close to people who fall in my 8th (a real soulful connection)

8th house connections are very deep indeed, so much so that it scares you because you feel that the other person literally gets "under your skin".
Its either very magnetic/passionate/seductive or repulsive/dark/frightening, or a complicated mix of both...

Yes, you're so right. It's very much like a Pluto aspect to your personal planets, push pull. They sort of disgust you.
