Usually up to 10° - yes, it's wide, and the effects may not be strong, but from experience it still works, especially if the planet in question & the ASC are involved in a big pattern like a T-square or a Grand Trine. If you want to be a little bit less indulgent though, up to 8°. ETA: Forgot to mention the aspects... The orb mentioned above applies to the conjunction, opposition and square. I'm undecided about the trine and the sextile... Something like 6° for trine and 5° for the sextile? hm. IP: Logged |

Ten isn't a huge orb to me. I'll be honest, I think that in general people use orbs that are way too small. I've lost track of how many times people say "If it's wider than this, axe it it doesn't count" and I'm sitting there in confusion going, "but I feel that what do you mean it doesn't count?"Sometimes I even go as far as to count aspects where the orb is larger than 10, but due to sign placement, the two planets would be considered in aspect. Like if there's a planet in Sag and one in Gemini but the orb is way too large to be considered an opposition, sometimes I ignore the concept of orb altogether and count it as an opposition because I see that energy at work in that individual, regardless of what the technicalities have to say about it.
