Okay this a thread I would like to discuss the manifestation and or the development of ''power'' in a person by examining the natal chart.
I would like you to take a few mins to answer the following questions and to provide your astrological aspects/planetary positions with respect to the sun, mars, pluto, uranus, saturn:
1. what is power to you?
2. Who do you think come close to your description of power among people you know or people you are close to?
3. Are you drawn to 'powerful people'? If yes why? if no, why?
4. What is 'powerful people' to you?
5. What sort of 'power' do you want to have in your life one day or you think you have now?

Let's see how well this thread fares

Hello Jessica, I don't know if I understand this but I'm going to try

I am a Sag rising with Jupiter/Sag/12th house

1) Power is usually Saturn but in my chart and with my associations it is Jupiter.

2) President Obama, he has a 12th house Jupiter, therefore an 11th hour friend.
(think superstorm Sandy)

3) yes, like attracts like

4) Current Pope

5) it's important to be morally sound and to remain so even when the deck is stacked against you.

1. General power:
being voluntarily followed by a large amount of people
contributing to the progress of our civilization

Personal power:
having the courage and strength to live the life you desire to live even if it conflicts with family/social expectations (as long as it doesn't involve harming others)
being emotionally self-sufficient and able to stand up for yourself and others
facing hardships without escaping into substance abuse
trying to be a good person despite having been hurt by people and fortune many times
not being afraid of death

2.

3. Yes but I don't meet such people often. It's hard not to be drawn to something you admire.
4. Answer number 1?
5. I think I already own the "personal power", at least to some extent. I wouldn't mind having the "general power" too.

Aspects between the planets you mentioned:
Sun conjunct Saturn
Sun conjunct Uranus
Sun sextile Pluto
Mars trine Saturn
Mars opposite Pluto

Sun in the 5th
Mars in the 9th
Saturn in the 5th
Uranus in the 4th
Pluto in the 3th

Saturn is my dominant planet and Pluto is my singleton.

------------------
I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy.

Bml= self empowerment.

She's prominent in my chart conjunct dsc opp venus and I constantly need to feel empowered or else I'm out.

I don't mind being flexible and accomdating but if someone makes me feel like I'm not an equal than we are going to have an issue.

Eris conjunct mars and I sorta feel like this has something to do with it.

oh first house placements too.

Power to me is an aura. It radiates but should never be abused, only cherished and shared.

Personally, Pluto has made me a very powerful human in my own rigth due to various struggles in life and also the sheer will to live that was handed me when I was born. I radiate "survival" and I love to try and show other humans how to find this within themselves.

As a sidenote: I have a cardinal square with Cancer Sun, Cap Moon, Aries Lilith and Libra Pluto; 11H, 2H, 5H, 8H. I WILL use my charm, wit, sex and money to get what I want should I need to. And I will win.

Power to me is being in control of others. The most powerful tools for this: money and media.
I generally dislike authority figures but have respect for laws and follow them. I find authority figures can abuse their power.
I don't like being around people who have power, generally, because they tend to abuse it and I find this greatly disturbing.
I like the feeling of having power over my own will and feel most powerful when I am not driven by subconscious drives like others. My sense of empowerment is the feeling or rational control of such drives and that I can limit them through exercising will power.

I have sun in twelfth trine Saturn in eighth, a trine between Virgo and Taurus. Eighth house is a power house, twelfth is power behind the scenes.
Mars in third is busy squaring Pluto. I think of this is a feeling of powerlessness reinforced by an opposition between Moon and Neptune from second to eighth, power houses.
Sagittarius Mars likes a sense of freedom and self control, trust in oneself to provide this instead of outsiders.
Pluto is third strongest planet in chart according to Pullen so I am very interested in controlling myself and wish everyone else were the same way. It's about self control more than anything else. This is the only way to truly have power and to be liberated. I have a twelfth house Pluto.
Uranus is conjunct my ascendant, Mercury, Jupiter, all in Libra sextile Leo Venus trine moon late in Taurus.
It involves the eighth and twelfth houses. My aspects and placements support my personal philosophy nicely. It starts with self control.

Power is the strength of your will. It is your might, you're chi, you're authority, our ego, and it has everything to do with Mars. Pluto is more associated with our ability to survive.
So Mars is the singularity to power. Other planets only may assist it.
Aspect Pluto Conjunct Mars or Opposition(The Conjunction creates a person who has a strong will to survive and opposition enhances produces bravery and honor.
If Mars is in the 1st house, the person holds power and is a warrior. If Mars is in the 7th house, the person holds power through their partner and is a symbol of comrades. If Mars is in the 10th house, the person is powerful through his career or is known by everyone as a powerful person/warrior.
A Sun/Mars Conjunction produces the "Soul of a Warrior" A guy like Jesse Ventura.
Mars is also greatly enhanced by Saturn in the phrase that "knowledge is power". When Mars Conjuncts Saturn, the person is perfectly disciplined when it comes to when and when not to use his will. When it opposes, the person learns much through experiances that strengthen him or her later on in life.
Mars is Strongest in Aries, not Scorpio or Capricorn.

1. what is power to you? To be in control of oneself,to have strong will, that's power to me.

And also financial, social status, political power.

Saturn - chart ruler in the 1st conj asc. If I may ask, can I have final dispositor if I have a singleton? Idk in my graph chart pluto is a singleton and every other planets point to saturn.

2. Who do you think come close to your description of power among people you know or people you are close to? Hmmmm not many, there are some who I think have the "potentials" for "personal" power but again, too early to tell.

About political n financial power, I have seen it with my own family. Money n power sure get them a lot of things.

3. Are you drawn to 'powerful people'? If yes why? if no, why? Hmmm yeah I'm drawn to people who seem to be self-possessed and have strong will.

Idk, I tend to avoid or at least feel wary around the other types. Lesson learned. It's like I'm more wary of what it can do to them. It tends to corrupt, and being around those people to me is like walking on a minefield.

4. What is 'powerful people' to you? Hmm, people who are in control of themselves and often succeed at not letting their demons get the better of them?

5. What sort of 'power' do you want to have in your life one day or you think you have now?

Well, self-possession is one thing that I absolutely need and want to have.

Thanks for giving us a survey, Jessica! I felt like talking about myself even more than usual.

1. what is power to you?

Spiritual power. The ability to heal and uplift oneself and others through spiritual means.

2. Who do you think come close to your description of power among people you know or people you are close to?

I'm not personally well acquainted with many healers, on the magnitude I'm thinking about. There is at least one on this forum, however.

Powerful famous people include "celebrity" Buddhist monks, Bernie Siegel (author of Love, Medicine, and Miracles), Edgar Cayce, Elvis (a little-known fact.)

3. Are you drawn to 'powerful people'? If yes why? if no, why?

People who are powerful in the classic sense, the rich and famous, just intrigue me. I'm curious about them. But I am also curious about most people. Beyond that I think synastry factors always apply. I won't be drawn to someone if their energy puts me off.

4. What is 'powerful people' to you?

My idea of power: See answer #1
What I think a lot of other people mean by it: Answer #3

5. What sort of 'power' do you want to have in your life one day or you think you have now?

Power goal: Answer #1
Current power: That is really difficult to answer. Several people have told me that I am "different" than others, and they say it in a very respectful way, like, "It's great talking to you, you're so different." Maybe by being true to my eccentricities I am inspiring others to be true to theirs as well.

I just want to be able to affect others positively, through my energy, awareness, consideration, and by being a source of valuable knowledge.

provide your astrological aspects/planetary positions with respect to the sun, mars, pluto, uranus, saturn:

-6H Capricorn sun (elemental singleton) exactly quincunx 11H Mars (out of bounds)
-Sun square 3H Pluto
-Sun ruled by, quindecile, and in mutual reception with 12H Saturn
-Mars trine Pluto
-Saturn square 4H Uranus
-Sun widely sextile Uranus (10 orb)

interesting take, but the most strong willed people have met in my life have Mars in earth signs.

1. Well, scientifically, it's defined as the "rate at which this work is performed." (from wiki) Most people would associate it with force, control, etc.

But, in my own understanding, power in general, is just the ability to be able to do something. We all have power but its extent depends on how efficiently one can create change by "doing something". It may be a change in people, technological advancements, something that can be at least palpable to the majority.

2. Some of the "powerful" people I know are the leader types (stereotypical, I know). I find that their charisma is their greatest asset. They can realize their ideas simply because they are able to relay it in a way that appeals to the people.

3. In a way, yeah. I'm drawn to intellectually powerful people. By that, I mean the holistic intellectual, not just someone who focuses on theories alone. But well, in terms of political power and the like, I'm VERY allergic to that.

4. I guess 1 & 2 would answer this question.

5. I guess I just want to have the power to be myself and be able to touch people's lives with my skills and talents (too grandiose for my own good, I know lol).

Astrological placements (I wonder if these reflect my answers though lol):

Scorpio sun, mars and pluto 5H trine Pisces moon 9H (cupido conjunct my stellium is probably diluting whatever sense of "power" I have lol)
Aquarius Saturn 8H trine Libra venus 4H
Capricorn Uranus 7H square Venus, sextile moon and pluto/mars, trine Virgo Jupiter 3H

Hey Lunae

yeah it does.

I was thinking about what drew me most to people the other day and I realized that I stand in awe of people who are intellectually powerful. Like you said, it's not academic excellence but people who have minds that have a life of their own. They use their intelligence on an individual capacity. I am totally in awe of such power.

True I like that bit where you said "people who have minds that have a life of their own". I admire them not just in the romantic sense, but because they inspire me to constantly learn new things and that makes me rise up to the challenge of learning something different from what they know so that we'd have something to talk about

I like this thread, Jessica.

Hmm. There are different kinds of power.
There's power when it comes to influencing people - making an impact with words, behavior, and the overall "vibe". Think of people in authority who come across as "strong" and determined - "Don't mess with me" type of thing. People like that can inspire fear or respect, or admiration.
Generally there's the idea of controlling the minds of others.

Then there's the more vicious type of power - that includes abuse, psychological or physical torture. There's the idea of "being superior" here, having the upper hand in a situation, controlling someone forcefully as opposed to influencing or persuading them.

And then there's the more subtle, more personal type of power which to me is the ability to survive, stand up for yourself, fight your battles with dignity, take on challenges and face your inner demons. The kind of power that makes you strong yet humble, experienced but not cynical, hopeful but not delusional. Power "over yourself", so to speak.

quote:
2. Who do you think come close to your description of power among people you know or people you are close to?

The power I described first - politicians. Someone like Putin, haha.

The power I described last - someone like Nick Vujicic.

quote:
3. Are you drawn to 'powerful people'? If yes why? if no, why?

I definitely find powerful people attractive. People who either exude confidence / strength or a quiet maturity / wisdom. Because they are inspiring and you know they'll let you know if they have a problem with you (by either stabbing you in the face or simply telling you, hah).

quote:
4. What is 'powerful people' to you?

People who make things happen.

quote:
5. What sort of 'power' do you want to have in your life one day or you think you have now?

I'd like to have the kind of power that would make me confident in myself and my abilities. Power in the sense that I'd feel confident in whatever decisions I make; standing strong within myself and my values. Hm basically, having a strong sense of identity, without being arrogant or delusional about it. I don't think I have it yet, but I'm planning on developing it...
