What is your experience with this aspect? Was this a romantic/attraction aspect or more platonic?

In my experience, the Moon person is drawn to the ASC person.

If the Moon person is a man, it can indicate strong feelings for the woman (not necessarily mutual).

Although I bet it can go the other way around.

Do you find aspects to the ascendant important and lasting in synastry?

Edit: Or are descendant conjunctions better?

That's a very good question.

I'm not sure, because I haven't had that many contacts to my ASC / DSC axis in synastry.

Both seem to be significant, but I'd say the 7th house is more centered on partnership and unity, whereas the first house is more about energy, attraction.

You can picture it like this: 1st house is connected to Aries / Mars, and 7th house is connected to Libra / Venus.

So the 1st house is more firey and dynamic, while the 7th house is more peaceful and stable.

It may depend on what you personally like in your relationships - seeing a "reflection" of yourself (1st house) or seeing complimentarity (7th house).

^Thank you for breaking it down like that!

I think I'd probably like a reflection than complimentary (is it possible to have both lol?), cappy placements rub me wrong sometimes but cancer isn't bad as long as it's not mars lol.

You're welcome.

Some people are more comfortable with 1st house synastry because there's so much ease around each other, it's easy to get one another.
Although there can be competition and ego struggles, and the other person may reflect a part of us we may not like.

7th house is a bit more challenging because it represents our "shadow side" - those traits that we consciously or subconsciously deny in ourselves and project onto other people.

So it can get tricky - on the one hand, you're attracted to the person, but on the other hand, they seem so different and kinda scary because they take us away from our comfort zone, and sometimes they make us act in a different way than what we're used to (when we act out our DSC).

Hope this makes sense.

I like Doux's explanation a lot

I haven't had the aspect you're referring to BUT I can say that I have mars conj ascendant with someone right now (He is mars) and it is very fiery and a lot of attraction

But we also have moon conj desc and that is definitely more of a stable, mutual feeling
