I call it the Ascendant because I like to call things by their technical term.

The 1st House is called the Ascendant, not the Rising, lol. You don't have to say Ascendant sign, all you have to do is call it the Ascendant, but when you call it Rising, you have to call it your Rising sign.

i.e. - "What's your Ascendant? vs. What's your Rising sign?"

Sure it works this way.
e.g. - "I'm a Leo Ascendant" vs. "I'm a Leo Rising".

But not this way...
e.g. - "My Ascendant falls in Leo at 19 degrees" vs "My Rising falls in Leo at 19 degrees".

This may be a stupid topic or question, but I always wondered why people would continue to call it the Rising sign after they have already learned about Astrology, and went passed the superficial understanding of it.
