What makes someone more spiritual rather than caring for the physical, "real" world? Im definately more spiritual, i'm not that selfish, i try and look for the meaning in everything i do. I beleive in working towards making myself happy, try and reduce stress, anxiety ect. I want to know the meaning of things all the time. I'm not really concerned about society norms and trends, I think for myself and outside the box. Mars in 9th house Neptune in 3rd Neptune square asc Mars opposite neptune Pisces 5th + 6th house ruler. Sag mercury square neptune. Sag mercury trine mars. Jupiter in 12th Maybe uranus is spiritual too? I have heavy uranus. Aqua venus, uranus in 3rd, mars opposite uranus, uranus square asc. Venus trine jupiter. What makes someone concerned with material success? Too much earth and inner planets maybe? For some reason I cant attach meaning to my posessions, I dont get emotionally attached to anything. I can only get attatched to experience and ideas. IP: Logged |

I don't think it's a 9th house issue. I know a girl who has venus/mars/sun in the ninth house in taurus/aries and she is very superficial. Some quotes: "By the time I'm thirty I'm going to have beach houses and be done with having kids so my body can look good." "I'm going to find a husband who can buy that ****" So yeah...although she is open minded to a degree...which is what the 9th house probably does, let someone learn and be open-minded...she doesn't seem that spiritual although I could be wrong. while most people i surround myself with tend to be on the spiritual side of things, i know a couple libras who are over the top materialists. the one who stands out is a sag moon and leo rising. man, the things i hear this woman say and her jealousy towards those who have more money, nicer things, etc is crazy. it's actually quite vile and very unattractive. she is also very concerned with her physical appearance.IP: Logged |

I think Uranus is very spiritual and of course Neptune. Pisces and Aquarius are the last two signs if the zodiac and they stand more for transcending the material world when the other signs stand for living in it.Personal happiness I would think is Jupiter. Jupiter is spiritual as well but also concerned with a good time. While Neptune and Uranus are totally abstract. Getting -emotionally- attached to things I see as a cancer thing. Getting attached to things in General would be Taurus. IP: Logged |

Do you feel better now that we all know you're spiritual? Spirituality, spiritual...Lately I've decided to avoid using these words, they don't work for me anymore. Anyway, I'm very much into investigating the nature of higher dimensions and stuff but I also care about achieving some kind of success on this so called physical plane. Something that will feel like success to ME. There are things I want, including various objects, and I will try to get them. Why the hell not? Gotta keep myself entertained I try to see this planet as my playground or the scene where I can manifest my will and realize my vision (or try at least). That's probably my 5th house Sun talking I'm earth, Capricorn and Saturn dominant so I don't think I could hang out with fairies 24/7 even if I wanted to.When it comes to the occult, currently my top aspiration is to expand my perception. In other words, to tap into my psychic abilities. And guess what - I wouldn't mind using them to get what I want ASC trine Neptune ASC trine Uranus Sun conjunct Neptune Sun conjunct Uranus Uranus conjunct Neptune Mars, the 8th house ruler, in the 9th house yod with Mars as the apex Sagittarius Mercury Pluto in the 3rd house

Well I can tell you heavy Earth or Air will lead to materialism, especially Earth. Heavy water or Fire influences will lead to more spirituality. Contray to AlexDern's example, the 9th house is the house of God. That example is probably an exception to the rule and she probably has heavy earth and air elements. I consider myself very spiritual. My "spiritual" aspects would be: Neptune conjunct Ascendant in 1st Neptune trine chiron in 8th Sag Jupiter in 11th conjunct pluto NN in 9th conjunct midheaven in scorpio Mars in 9th Sun conjunct Pallas Saturn in Pisces Uranus in 1st conjunct neptune Neptune sextile pluto and saturn (more of a generational thing) Scorpio moon I also feel my Leo stellium has a lot to do with it. Higher Leo energy represents the divine and I'm starting to access it a lot more. IP: Logged |

Neptune, like everyone said. But I also agree with Leorpio, I have Pisces on my 9th house cusp with Chiron in my 9th, Neptune is in my 5th, Sun in 12th. The 5th house can be a divine house, the divine child as Liz Greene says in her Neptune book. I think a 5th house Neptune is very strong. I'm spiritual and philosophical, I'm not religious and don't like organized religion. But I do have my own feelings of being connected to source. I try to have a pure heart and try to do the right thing in all my dealings, I truly make the effort but I think I'm this way because of my Pisces 9th house/Chiron, 12th house stellium, North Node in Pisces, Neptune aspecting Asc, MC, Moon, Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars (wide orb), Jupiter, Saturn (wide orb). I have always been this way since I was little, so it was not so much an awakening as I always gravitated to spiritual and the natural world/environment. I also have a Sagittarius Vertex, so I'm naturally drawn to philosophy, spirituality, and higher forms of thinking. I think all your trans-personal planets can be spiritual in different ways, but Neptune is the sublime when it comes to this domain. IP: Logged |

I'm Uranus-Heavy as well (Uranus trine ASC, Uranus trine Venus, Aqua MC, Moon Parallel Uranus, Uranus square Mercury (Chart ruler), etc), I'm not sure that'd lead to spirituality? But if it does, I'm not *too* spiritual - Sure, I've got my fair share of "early wisdom" etc, but I can be fairly materialistic because Venus is sitting on my ASC and my chart ruler is in Taurus. I think Spirituality would be more of a Neptunian, possibly Jupiter-anian, trait. Uranus is more in touch with a 'different' type of spirituality, the kind that shows up unexpected and leaves like so.IP: Logged |

I think all of the signs have the potential to be spiritual. Earth is able to work closely w/ objects and the earth, for example, they could be pros at doing crystal work or reiki healing b/c they are able to find spirituality through physical means. Taking care of their health (raw diet, cleanses, natural supplements) can really benefit Earth signs I think on a spiritual level. Also, nature can be a tool for them, for example, they may be able to tap into some deep stuff if they meditate out in nature. Water is psychic energy. Getting feels for things or picking up on your surroundings. All of the typical 'spiritual' things can come really easily and naturally for these people (ex. contact w/ the dead, clairvoyance, etc) Fire is spirituality and deep passion. They can also gain impressions from certain experiences, as well as other people's actions. Leo is amazing b/c they can access their spirituality directly from their heart. Sag is just pure faith and positive energy. Aries is really good at knowing what to do to continuously better themselves and what actions or situations will be best for them. They don't need anyone to guide them. Air signs can decipher spiritual impressions through communication. They can be talking to someone, and something that person says can really resonate w/ them on a spiritual level. So words, phrases, and conversations are key. For example, maybe they were wondering if they should change careers, then as they are driving they see a Nike billboard ad that says 'JUST DO IT'. Aquarius is especially interesting b/c they can tap into the collective unconsciousness and really understand where we ALL are heading as a whole, therefore they know where they stand themselves. This is just a rough explanation though, and I'm sure it's a combination of different things since were all made up of a mixture of these energies. Fire in all of your water houses can make a spiritual person as well probably. Or something like Mars in the 12th or 8th. I have water signs ruling all of my water houses and I didn't understand anything about spirituality until it all hit me and now I am extremely spiritual. I also think certain people will never really be 'spiritual' as maybe it is not in their 'life path' to delve into it. And as far as materialistic people, I've known people who were pretty shallow and cared a lot about money, but they were also the most spiritual people I've known. It's hard to pin down which aspect or placement causes it, or blocks it. IP: Logged |

Moon sitting in the 2nd house, ruled by Taurus or Capricorn could do it. Or 2nd house stelliums? I have Saturn in Capricorn, Sun in Aqua and the North Node in Capricorn sitting in my 2nd house. I don't consider myself to be materialistic but life is just forcing me to realize the importance of being financially stable. I have big attachments to money and things I own, not b/c I am materialistic, but more b/c money does not come by easily for me so I value it. And I know that even if I do make money, it can quickly disappear. IP: Logged |

I feel like there's an oversimplification of the topic here. Take for example, the Cancerian's tendency to get attached to objects. Now, a Cancerian wouldn't keep an object because of its monetary value (stereotypically), but because of the memories, the feelings, and the meaning behind it. Is that materialistic or spiritual? I'm probably making a lot of assumptions here, but based on your post, I think you're an idealistic personality, which- as others have stated on here- would be brought by Jovian or Uranian energy. Lol exactly. Jupiter Retro in 2nd house saved me from a life of greed and materialism (that I could've easily attained- miserably though on a personal or "spiritual" level). But still as much as I'd like to I can't just live off of love and unicorns and positive vibes alone... Anyway spirituality is kind of a sore subject for me right now with tNeptune bringing all my Cap goals to a grinding halt so I can "get in touch" with deeper feelings, energy, the intangible and all that... But as you're saying I've been trying to explore and develop my perception/psychic abilities- which I believe everyone has, and I also believe can have real benefits on the physical plane. So yeah maybe it is a Cap and 5th house thing and sorry I'm not really adding much to the thread but just wanted to say I get where you're coming from with this and Caps do tend to get what they want all in good time IP: Logged | |
