I just got through talking to my guy about relationships, honesty, blah-blah-blah, and basically, he was like: "The most noble thing someone can do is focus all their attention and effort and love for the relationship in the present. Who knows what's going to happen in ten years, but if things need to be spiced up, etc., be honest and talk about opening the relationship, etc."

Even though I realize this as 'true,' the idea of even opening a relationship to preserve it upset me, and I told him as much. However, I also did say that if we ever came to that point, I'd realize that we'd grown apart and it's probably time for separate paths, anyway.

What placements make someone idyllic in love, I.e. Thinking it'll last forever, can't imagine being with someone else because it's 'seemingly wrong,' wanting that storybook romance, okay with having one partner for the rest of their life, etc?

Where are the idealists at, and what aspects/placements color their chart?

I'm a super idealist on love. I'd rather die than have to admit that true real love isn't out there for me. I believe you can be totally in love with one person forever. It might wax and wane and some days won't be as exciting. (Excitement does not equal love) but it's possible to be in love with one person for the rest of your life.

Aquarius suns tend to be super idealistic in some way. I have Venus conj Neptune Saturn and Uranus. Virgo rising which would give me Pisces descendant.

If I were you I'd feel like dumping the guy after that confession so I guess I qualify? I have Capricorn Sun conjunct Neptune and Aqua Venus conjunct Capricorn Saturn in the 5th house (the cusp is in Capricorn) + Sagittarius Mercury + ruler of the 8th in the 9th (Mars) + Pisces DSC. I don't date or anything like that and I'd only pair up if I fell in love with someone (and vice versa) AND if I knew that the relationship have the potential to be long term. Which means we should be compatible. I don't want marriage but I see no problem with being with the same man to the end if we still loved each other and were happy together. Actually, that's an ideal. I don't have the need to "explore" men. Just gimme my weirdmate and I'll be content

I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy.

My first instinct is to say Taurus and earth signs but then I thought of people I know with these and the fact most of them are divorced.
Long lasting relationships can be indicated by Saturn but they might not always be faithful. They are just steady.
I'd say maybe a hard aspect between Venus and Saturn because people with these can be sorta awkward especially if Uranus is also involved and they would be more unlikely to be surrounded by opportunities to cheat. Cheating is often because the opportunity presents itself and it just happens on the spur of the moment.

Oh my Goodness! My heart is just hurting for you so much right now. Please don't sell yourself short and put up with that junk. If it's not what you want, then DO NOT settle for that. My blood just boiled when I read that. I've got Pluto tightly conjuncting my Moon and squaring my Sun-Venus almost exact, and it rules my 5th house. If a guy told me that it would just be O-VER! Just no frickin' way. I'm more of the "if you aren't as obsessed with me as I am with you, then we're through" type.

I know it may seem hopeless sometimes, but do not give up on love. I can right you a book on romantic idealism. I have Neptune in the 5th house, and it's my singleton. It is so, so strong. Then, I have Sun-Venus, Mercury, and Mars in my 12th. Makes me all Pisces-ish and Neptuney. My Eros is in Pisces, too, so I'm just one of those people who thinks Love is THE point of life. Life without love would be like life without beautiful colors or sweet smells, like life without touch or taste. I mean, we all ARE alive, but love is what makes us FEEL alive!
Never give up on it.

My advice to people looking for love is to not look for it. I know it's hard, but in my experience, you don't find true love. True love finds you! It is worth the wait.

I'd tell that person goodbye.

Good points, there are different ways to be idealistic...

I have Venus conjunct Neptune, an 8H Pisces moon, Scorpio NN. I'm romantic to the point of imbecility almost.

Venus trine Saturn and a Cap sun save me. Like, I can put emotions on the backburner when need be, putting some elbow grease into the relationship instead of just drifting on my little silver cord, way out to outer space perfect-love dreamland. This mainly applies to my marriage, but I was the same way before, getting into just a few long-term, monogamous relationships instead of serial dating through my teens and 20's.

In my opinion, if you get into an open relationship with someone you love- this to me is not love. It's something far less than.

I am a Sagittarius Sun and when I love someone, I do want it to last and am not open to the idea of "sharing" him with anyone.

The Libra guy and I are very possessive of each other.Even when he/I visit family, we both get a little resentful but it's only because we really are so attached to each other. And it has been like this for 2 years now and getting stronger.

I know that there are certain positions that can make one think of that "everlasting love" and yearn for it.

I have Moon in Cancer, Venus in Scorpio conjunct Saturn in Scorpio.I want my love to last. And when I marry, it is for life.

He has Moon in Scorpio, Venus in Libra conjunct Saturn in Libra. He wants the same -but with more intellectual focus on the "togetherness".

This is not "idealism", just the way we love each other. And it's great I tell ya. Great

Yeah, my Virgo Moon helps me keep at least my big toe on the ground so I don't float away.

Some Earth in the chart really helps keep that Neptune energy grounded so mundane reality is at least bearable. It's like one of those heavy plastic tags that keep a helium balloon from just floating away into oblivion.

I think Neptune energy is what gives the longing for the ideal love, but Jupiter energy is what gives the hope that it can be obtained.

I have Cancer Mars and Venus in Scorpio and you sound identical to me. Everything you said is exactly how I am. It's life or death for me. I do not and will not ever share him with anyone. He's been married one other time to a complete moron and when I found out about it I prayed that he didn't have any children. I would if I had to but I couldn't share him with anyone else. I don't know how people without children get in relationships with people who do have them and do it. I just couldn't. Love is so sacred, so pure to me. I completely give my whole self to the person I love, and there is currently no other person on this planet that I love more than DeepFreeze. Are you protective of your bf? I'm super duper protective of him, even when he doesn't need protection or hurts himself(like bandaid worthy lol) I am right there. Divorce is not an option for me and I honestly can't see being able to live through one. I'd absolutely pull a Juliet if I had to without any thought.

My mars squares my sun, moon and mercury and trines venus

Saturn trines sun, moon and mercury and sqaures Pluto

I have Neptune on my ascendant, squares mercury and opposite mars and conjunct mercury

I am a 12th house baby sun, moon, Mecury and Jupiter are there.

Protective of him? Absolutely. Sometimes he'll say "I'm not some wilting flower you know. I was doing fine before I met you"

But then, when he gets the same way with me, I jokingly say ," How did I do without you? Probably wilt like a flower to a fleeting wind." to which he smirks.

Sometimes I wonder how something as erratic and as sudden as death would affect us? How would the one who lives survive? I am not kidding when i say "it's like we are living as two people but with one mind".

I think that your 12th house placements, Neptune aspects and, especially, your Neptune opposite Mars- lends to that "I'll even sacrifice myself" ideology.

What house is your Neptune in? Mine is in the 8th house.

I too think like that. I cry thinking about it honestly. I don't know how I'll ever survive without him. I'll totally be one of those wives who never remarries, never wants sex with anyone else. None of that. My Neptune is in 3rd and it's also in Capricorn. I'm whole heartedly his and no one else's. I don't think about any other guy, don't have any crushes but him. I'm like all Plutonian with him lol. I'm also very social and love people and I think it would completely surprise them if they knew how I felt. People wouldn't expect some woman my size to feel the way I do. But I think being with us and seeing us together people sense it and see it.

Neptune in 3rd is a tremendous blessing. Do you have a good singing voice? It often also lends to communicating "telepathically" or being able to "sense" what people are thinking.

It is truly a blessing to meet someone whom you feel that way for. Really!

I always say the Libra I'm with is "sex on legs" ,to which he scoffs at,and I genuinely mean it.One of these days, I think he'll start to believe it.

He's a libra he better lol. My singing voice isn't bad. I used to want to sing when I was younger and never pursued it. I read people like a glove. It's crazy, I feel the energy and just the body language. I'm didn't think anything of it but hey thanks. Learned something more

Mercury/Venus/Jupiter/Neptune
any combination (as long as Venus is part of it)

Neptune is sometimes making the idealism highly unrealistic, too.

I totally cried yesterday morning whe driving home from my bar at 6am. Balled uncontrollably in the Wells Fargo parking lot as I inserted copious 1$ bills into the ATM.

I talked to my guy today and told him exactly how I feel.

I don't want to share him. I believe l love can last forever. I honestly think if you open a relationship it means your love has dwindled and you e grown apart.

He apologized and said he feels the same way. He doesn't want to share me. He things love can last forever.

The point he was making us that he loves me so much, that even if the sexual excitement fades, he'd open the relationship if it's something I needed, just so he could be with me. I told him I don't need, nor want, that.

Oh, the wonder of communication...

I have the best of all worlds! First I have Neptune that tells me soo sweet stories about how things ought to be and the dreams! The dreams....I can daydream about rainbow colored roses that smell of tonka bean and glimmer of encrusted gold sprinkles. Then I have Mars that actually marches out there and fetches whatever it is he thinks APPEAR like a good contender! Gotta love Mars! And last but definitely not least, we have Uranus that simply just....wakes up and drives off into the sunset. Without Neptune. And Mars. And Venus.

Or is this that infamous Delusional Split Personality Disorder Syndrome??

Yeah, everything's all better. We cleared it up and it was a hypothetical. I brought it up, told him I had to get it off my chest... I was hurting.

He apologized and that wasn't at all what he meant.

A lot of what we talk about is really difficult. Hard subjects for me. I know they need to be discussed, but I still get very upset and uneasy.

We have a lot of harsh Chiron aspects, but I always feel better when the difficult subjects are dissected and dealt with.
