There are birthstones associated with the month you were born in and that's widely accepted. Not as well known are the gemstones associated with different signs or elements. When people think of gemstones & astrology, they think of vedic astrology practices or crystal healing techniques and that's all fine for other people... but not where I'm going with this. Let's take Virgo as the example. I have a book called "The Crystal Zodiac" that suggests Sardonyx & Peridot as birthstones for people with Sun in Virgo. In this same section of the book, it suggests Red Tourmaline to help overcome the tendency of being overly critical. I think the author may be on to something. But let me expand this and go further. How about using gemstones or crystals in such a way that you are boosting qualities that are low or missing in your chart. For example, I am lacking the element of Air. I have a little, but not much. To help balance the other elements, maybe I could make gemstone bracelets that help balance me? I could use some Aquarius influence, so why not wear gemstones associated with Aquarius instead of my own sun sign? In this book, Aquamarine is associated with Aquarius and what interests me about that is that I am always drawn to that stone. For example, when I got married, I picked out an aquamarine ring to wear with my wedding dress. I also made a necklace out of "pearls" with an aquamarine drop. I don't think that was an accident... I think I was reaching for something I need. Thoughts? IP: Logged |

Me likey this idea. Now, tell me what stone I should wear with this massive Fire void? I want some energy, dammit.

Nothing in particular. I would just like to be more well-rounded. I would also like to connect better with the Air-dominant people in my life. IP: Logged |

I think you would like a red jasper. It's an earthy and energising stone working on your base chakra. If I remember correct you are a Gem and/or Gem ASC? That also grounds that energy.

Let me read a bit in the book to see if I can add to the earlier suggestion. IP: Logged |

Here are my notes, so far: Procrastination / hesitancy can be overcome with Ruby. Citrine encourages you to be spontaneous without trampling on any one else in the process. Fire Agate for promoting inner security. Cat's Eye enhances natural confidence and joy. Tiger's Eye facilitates a positive manifestation of will and unblocks creative abilities. Golden Topaz helps overcome limitations and have confidence. I am still reading & taking notes though. IP: Logged |

Living in the now is facilitated by Bloodstone (Heliotrope) or to help manifest dreams into fruition.Red Jasper, Citrine & Golden Topaz come up more than once as being associated with Fire signs. @ Doux: could you refresh my brain on your sun, rising & moon signs again? This book will give specific suggestions based on that as well. IP: Logged |

What people consider the prettiest / most beautiful is going to be subjective. IP: Logged |

I just started looking into this whole crystal thing a few months ago. Sort of by accident while talking with a friend about building a hypothetical theremin/electric ouija board using a either a crystal power supply or some sort of crystal-based amplifier. It might work best if you try to boost the small amount of Air that's already in your chart instead of just wearing the stone for an sign that isn't there at all. For Example: Let's say your one Air placement is a Libra Moon. You could make a copper (metal for Venus, ruler of Libra) bracelet with a piece of white or rainbow moonstone (the name says it all) and a piece of Lapis lazuli (good for Libra/Air signs in general). You could even throw in a little straight quartz to act as a frequency multiplier/signal amplifier. I think that using the right metal is key as it would tie things together like the solder on a circuit board. Something else to keep in mind is that a lot of popular gemstones contain trace amounts of arsenic or other poisons, and you probably wouldn't want to have them directly touching your skin all day. A metal setting could potentially act as a good conductive buffer. ---------------------------------- There's a surprising amount of actual science behind some of this 'magic' crystal stuff. But I'm going to stop now before I really start nerding-out and bring up things like hertz frequency rates, oscilloscopes, and variable output voltage regulators. Instead I'll just post a link to a PDF of Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic ( http://www.scribd.com/doc/61099695/Cunningham-s-Encyclopedia-of-Crystal-Gem-and-Met al-Magic ). Maybe it'll help you find exactly what your looking for. IP: Logged |
