Topic: Gemini Vs Virgo - both ruled by Mercury, but two different energies

Even though Gemini and Virgo are both ruled by Mercury, they have extremely different energies and expressions.The baseline is that yes, both are incredibly intelligent and cunning, but in different ways and for different purposes. Gemini is more of the trickster and the energy is reminiscent of Hermes and Loki. Hermes being quick-witted, lightning on his feet (literally) and in need of constant communication and stimulation. If you have a message, a Gemini will definitely deliver it. The Loki side is less talked about but a very real part of Gemini. Love it or hate it, this sign has a penchant for mischief and mayhem and will giggle during verbal disputes or even relish in seeing their enemies fall into one of their cleverly crafted traps. Their vengeance isn't as frightening as a Capricrons or Scorpios, but is often done with more intention to humiliate and mock for fun and games, as if you've been dealt with by a dark jester. Whereas Virgo is more similar to Artemis and Athena - both virgins, protectors, and strategists. Artemis (aka Diana) swears off men, stays a virgin, and becomes a protector and healer of children and women. She also protects the forests and is a lover of animals. The Virgo - Pisces axis has a lot to do with animals, animal shelters and vets, so Artemis fits right in with Virgo. Athena, the cold and logical strategist - facts and truth only. She will strike you down without batting an eye, all in the name of facts and truth, and simply because she's got a superior intellect. Your feelings are irrelevant here. More quiet than a Gemini, but when this side of Virgo speaks, just one sentence can have enough surgical precision to completely obliterate what anyone else just said. IP: Logged |

As a Virgo Moon with a Gemini Mercury, I’m familiar with both energies. And to me the difference is easiest to understand through the difference in polarities. Gemini is an air sign with positive polarity, getting energy from external stimuli, like social interaction or things that are happening around them. Virgo is an earth sign with negative polarity, getting energy from their internal process, like structuring and ordering the things around them. Mercury is neutral and I wouldn’t consider Virgo to be “colder” and more rational than Gemini. Both have a different way of handling their energy but it’s still mercurial energy. I like the way you’re looking at this from a mythological and symbolic perspective. I think the difference between both signs is interesting. I’m curious to see what other people think about it. I disagree about Gemini, because I have the moon/Venus and that isn’t me. I’m not a trickster, I suppose I could be charming in the past, but not anymore. Not interested in humiliating anyone. I think it’s sad when people relish someone having a bad time. I don’t watch reality shows, because I’m not interested in the gossip and back-stabbing. IP: Logged |

Beautifully written insightful thread.Gemini is the first human in the zodiac I see them as Adam and Eve in heaven before the fall, the Sun reaches its highest point in Gemini season before it start falling down after Summer Solstice [Cancer]... Gemini is characterized by its ability to speak (air) and think logically (human mind)... Gemini is the closest thing to the natural Human curious nature. Virgo is the first sign in the zodiac that shares an identical ruling planet in the first hemisphere (northern hemisphere) with another sign that is Gemini the first Mercury ruled sign, a square aspect separates the two Mercurial signs... That gives Virgo a natural ability to measure things, just like the ruler we use to measure distance📏📐i.e. the analytical mind.
It is also the last sign in the first hemisphere that's why it likes to service and keep everything organised.

I differentiate Gemini from Virgo like this.Gemini is connotation meaning of something
Virgo is the denotative
Gemini is news "right now" -Even gossip YouTube videos that are contextually relevant
Gemini is an invitation to an Event. The time and Place is contextually relevant. But once the event has passed,the invitation is no longer useful.
Virgo is "how to" videos on YouTube that may not be contextually relevant right now. But may be referred later or relooked and ,as such, they do not have an expiration date. Gemini is the destination/place to get to
Virgo is the map on how to get there. Gemini tends to "spice" speech and be verbose
Virgo tends to limit speech and be concise. Gemini tends to be well-informed
Virgo tends to be well-read. Gemini is about opinion

I actually have alot more respect for Virgos then I precisely had growing up.My longest boss was a virgo/leo mix and it whould always be the case were we "mercurial" saw things exactly the same or whould never see eye to eye on anything. Anything involving communication arts, like photography, media and design or TV Broadcasting you'll find the pair getting along fine. You'll get an equal number of oddball Gems & Virgos...both signs have there fair share of "mercurial misfits"

I used to be long-winded, and now I'm not as much, and some people think I'm rude, when I just don't have much to say. When I do, I don't always feel like sharing it with anyone. I'm either venting, or I might be in a better mood, and don't want anyone to ruin it with assumptions, or snark. I've been trying to think about my own list for Gemini (I'm not so sure about Virgo), but I'm also not up for doing that, only to have it smacked down, because I'm a Gemini Moon/Venus, and we're so obviously the worst. Hmm seems a bit limiting to me to be honest, Virgo the Virgin is just not bogged down with the superficial nonsense that Gemini dresses itself up with. I think your comments are a tad shallow and superficial but thats ok, each to their own opinion, i can appreciate the comment. IP: Logged |

If you're familiar with their posts, Aries23Degrees is anything but shallow.I'm sure there is a lot more they would have to say. But the comment was made short/simple (and poetic) for the benefit of the discussion. Sometimes you must make complex things simple, to aid comprehension. It's not easy to do, so this is a great skill. What Aries23Degrees has said is actually very deep if you ponder for more than a minute.
