I think I am called to be a Medical Astrologer but I am just starting this pursuit. In studying one of my books( and it is quite complicated), I was drawn to the discussion of planets in the Fall, as is Mars in Cancer. The Fall position is important in Medical Astrology. This is my Mars so I looked with great interest. It indicated that Mars in Cancer will be prone to stomach problems. We are said to have a “vulnerable stomach”. I had to laugh because this describes my stomach. It was not this way until after the birth of my second son. I would say that the precipitating events were that of many, many stressful situations which reached critical mass, as I call it. In simple terms, I could not take one more iota of stress. When this critical mass level of stress was reached, I started to have stomach problems.

By stress, I am referring to both inner and outer stress. The inner stress was the result of how I processed the outer stress. I did not have the level of inner coping mechanisms that I needed. This was not my fault. My childhood was one in which I did not learn sensible ways to cope. I thought that if I were only perfect that I would have the perfect life. You can imagine how far this took me. I imagine I am not alone in this kind of immature or stunted thinking. However, again, it was not my fault. I simply did not know better. At any rate, I had many betrayals. Also, I had two small children age two and a newborn. Hence, critical mass was reached and my vulnerable organ, my stomach, began to suffer.

At the time of the birth of my second son, I started having a difficulty in eating. I got very thin, which is the dream of most girls in this society. However, I became too thin and found I could not gain weight. My stomach could only eat small amounts. I prayed for help. God began to direct my healing. I found a health food store which specialized in raw food. I discovered that raw food had enzymes which aided digestion. I bought many raw food cookbooks because I love to cook.

Cooking is is a Moon in Cancer and Mars in Cancer hobby. As I ate raw food, I started healing. I started getting color back in my skin and started feeling more energy. I was very grateful to be on the journey to wellness. At another health food store, I discovered Kombucha. This is a raw drink packed full of enzymes. It will provide what yogurt provides in a much better form. Once I started drinking Kombucha, I felt I would be fine. It is very powerful and I still drink it.

I was on the way to healing but still had not addressed the emotions which had began the stomach problems. Doing this is much harder than changing eating habits. The journey was longer and I am not at the end. There may not be an end. However, Mars in Cancer finds it very, very difficult to express emotions. Instead, it puts them in the stomach. The stomach holds the unexpressed emotions and it becomes sick.

Mr Rogers died of stomach cancer. I do not know the particulars of his life, only that he was a gentle soul. Those of us who are sensitive gentle souls find it hard to stand up in our own defense. We push our emotions into our stomach( if we are Mars in Cancer) I do not know if Mr Rogers did this. I could not say that, of course, only that he seems to be someone who could have coped in this way and he is an example of the point I am trying to make.

For me, I have had many, many lessons. God seems to have directed them and He still does. If I were to write of them all, it would take pages, so I will leave the subject here, for the moment. If people are interested in more detail, I will write another article–Part Two.

The patterns seem to get more entrenched as you get older. That is what I found anyway

That is very bad because the older we are, the hard it will be to lose weight... I hate being fat but I love sweet food too much... Sometimes I cannot sleep well because of it, so I have to lose the weight as soon as possible. It goes around and around. I feel I am not very strong-minded when coming to eating.

I don't mean the weight, per se, Molly, but putting emotions into the stomach.

Medical astrology healed me.

Mars rules the masculine parts of the body and is best in Fire signs and second best in Air signs.

Mars in Cancer isn't good at all because it means too much masculine energy is directed into a sign that is feminine so the result is serious problems depending on how its aspected.

I have Mars in Pisces so I know what its like to have a water sign in a masculine planet. All I had to do was heal myself in the areas in which Pisces rules. Pisces rules the blood stream and lymphatic system. All It took was herbs to purify my blood and I was 100 percent healed. Its funny because no western or eastern doctor was able to tell me this simple solution. So with mars in cancer take herbs for your stomach.

Also Ami medical astrology means healing at an emotional level and Mars rules our sexuality so something inside of you needs to be healed that comes from your mother that is really negative and its in your DNA so you need to heal it spiritually as well.

Both my mother and father have Mars in Pisces and my dad has some sexual issues that disturb me and I don't want to carry those traits of him so I had to eliminate it by bringing it to his attention and withdrawing all power I have ever given to it. It's disturbing stuff but all physical problems always manifest first spiritually before they manifest in the physical body.

Mars in Pisces is weak sexually and something is going on there that isnt normal. I call it sexual deformity.

I have Mars in AQUARIUS and being that AQUARIUS rules the ankles... And being that it is placed in my 10th house, I do have some problems there.
I get bruised fsurly easily in my shin area and I get a lot of Charlie horses even though I consume a lot of potassium.
Also, I have inherited my mom's weak ankle, she has Pisces Mars.
Interestingly enough being that my Mars is in the 10th house, I do have stomach sensitivity as would someone with a Mars in cancer or Capricorn have. But my sensitivity has to deal more with anxiety and intuition.

Ami I just wanted to say that I have been enamored by medical astrology since I began studying astrology more in depth! I think it is a very important aspect to Astrology that needs to be practiced by more and if I were to do anything with charts ever I would be into this field of Astrology as well. I think its great you are called to this. It really explains so much about an individual. Especially the ASC and Sun as well. Soooo many Libra's I know have some sort of absorption/digestion issue (adrenals, Libra) and headaches or migraines (head, Aries), as the opposite signs are tied together and affect each other, ie if you have an issue with a body part, look to the opposite sign/body part ruled by that sign because the answer to the problem may originate from that source! Ie, if you suffer from migraines, the kidney's may be the real source of the trouble. As a Scorpio I had many issues with strepth throat growing up (Taurus rules throat) and some skin, teeth, jaw issues due to Cappy ASC, among other things, all of which I can correlate to my chart. I know a few Gemini's (Sun or ASC) who have lung issues (coughing, bronchitis), or smoking issues (due to nervousness, anxiousness, hypertension), one Gemini riser who has broken their wrist multiple times (Gemini= lungs, nervous system, shoulders, arms, hands/wrists), the lists go on. Have you ever read Isabel Hickey's Astrology: A Cosmic Science? There is a great chapter on medical astrology in that book, it's only a few pages but a lot of good info packed in those few pages. I love her book/writing style so much, there is just so much good info written in a very direct, no-nonsense, blunt manner.

One of my dreams is to one day combine Astrology and herbs to help people. Nicholas Culpeper is one of the most well known herbalist to have combined these two, back in the 1800's. I believe it was him who stated that one should not have surgery on the part of the body that the sign of the transiting Moon rules, so if the Moon is in Taurus, don't have any surgery on the throat, if it is in Leo, no surgery on the heart/spine etc etc, and that if one DOES have the surgery on the body part ruled by the sign transiting Moon is in, there will most likely be complications with the surgery and/or the surgery will take twice as long to heal.

@Ami Anne

My mother has Mars in Cancer and we have seen her suppress anger for many years. Resentment she habours for my Dad is transferred to us through some psychological way that I'll explain later.

But yes,she started to have issues with her stomach after the birth of her 3rd child and had to have her womb removed-because doctors advised that if she didn't,she would have Cancer of the womb.

She is very much a gentle, understanding and emotional person and I suspect-when I did her chart rectification- her Asc is in very late Virgo/Libra with Venus in Cap in 4th; explaining her "duty" to be bound to her home and hearth come rain and storm.

Much of the agresssion she exerts in her career(Mars in 10th);as the opposition to the 4th does suggest that she tends to "give away" much of the assertiveness of Mars when it comes to her home environment.

The way she has transferred anger is by having us(her children)fight to protect her against our father. We have become very resentful of the way he treats her and are over-sensitive to anything he does that she deems as "wrong".

On the one hand, she says that we shouldn't harbour resentment .But on the other, she tells us in great detail of the many things that he does that are unfair and make her sad

I understand this position does not do well in expressing itself- not unless the Asc/Sun/Moon/Mercury/Venus is in Aries/Libra squaring the Mars position.

But I do hope that Mars in Cancer use their powerful psychic abilities(which many have btw)to choose for themselves relationships and situations that minimize their stress.

Much of the internalization of anger is because of uninformed choices made. And with Cancer Mars,I feel it is often extremely difficult for them to stand up and make changes once the conditions feels "safe". No matter how bad they really are.

@athenegoddess Some of the best sex I have had is with Mars in Pisces individuals.I have Venus in Scorpio and some of us actually have mad love for you guys. No matter how "weak" you are deemed to be by others

No, I never read it but if you recommend it, I will get it, Deep. Follow your passion! Where is Astrowizard in your chart. This is often strongly placed in the chart of an Astrologer.

Thanks for the great info!

Astrowizard isn't doing a lot in my chart except trining my Karma/Part of Fortune exact conjunction by 1 deg.

I do recommend the book, it's one of my fave astrology books, maybe you can take it of the library first to give it a try?
