I am not sure what you mean.
I know that cancer mercury gives a very strong memory in general, but especially so with strong emotional imprints.

Matters related to childhood are concerns of fourth house and cancer, whereas emotions are matter of the water signs as a whole, so look for any mercury (planets of thoughts and communication) in aspect to these

I have my chart ruler (pluto) in the 12th house. Pluto can signify loss / change and the 12th can show loneliness. I think any strong Pluto or 12th house factors can depict such a childhood.
