Just a couple of hours separate us from this year's Eurovision Song Contest. I watch it every year, religiously almost Let's see how many Eurosong fans are here. So, state your this years favorite/s and maybe your Venus placement and/or other planets if you think it explains them and maybe just for the sake of nostalgia, your favorite entries ever, but I won't be stating them, they're far too many This year I'm cheering for: 1. Ukraine (the message, the woman, the voice, the elegance and beauty of depth, unique) 2. Italy (totally unique and enchanting song, singing in Italian, lovely singer, like the lyrics) 3. Poland (good singer, catchy, maybe a bit retro 90s rock ballad, charming all in all) Virgo Venus, 7H, sextile Scorp Pluto, trine Cap Saturn, Neptune, square Gem Mars.

Yeey, we agree on Poland! that's probably that Neptune trine, just a classic dreamy 80's inspired ballad my sister has Pisces Venus and she loves the song IP: Logged |

I can totally see Latvia in your placements, well at least Gem Venus and 9th house, something modern and hip Are you Latvian? I LOVED Aminata, so this years entry can't really compare in my opinion :P IP: Logged |

Eurovision became such a political shityard (pardon my language ) - last time it had a great song was when fairytale won,or was it Dima Bilan with his song? Either way,it became agenda driven show - not worthy of me watching Gemini with Venus and Mercury there - in 11th

Actually it has always been political that's what you get when countries are competing against each other, it's the part of the appeal. Actually the quality of Dima Bilan or Fairytale is also debatable and largely dependent on personal taste. For me, more than half of winners are sh1tty songs, but what I look forward in ESC is discovering artists that I'll be listening for years to come, for example Marija Šerifović , The Common Linnets, Abba, Loreen, Anouk... and also it's a very entertaining and heart warming event, when you see musicians from all over Europe hanging out and supporting each other, more than not. But it's really fun to see how people's passion is stirred when debating Eurovision IP: Logged |

Oh lord, that 11H really shows in the not "worthiness" just teasing, I've got quite a few 11H placements too. but I can see how you'd see ESC from a too serious point of view... I kinda let my Libraness to enjoy the music and the aesthetics

I only watched the second semi-final. The ones that stood out to me were Lithuania and Belgium. Belgium was the best of the night as far as I am concerned.I mean it was fun and energetic, there was dancing, something to see at every second of the performance, nice voice, connection with the audience, nice message. I don't knw which placements though.IP: Logged |

The countries I wanted to get through are Australia and Georgia. I loved Ukraine's performance too though. Not sure which placements would have any meaning. IP: Logged |

Not much of a Eurovision fan here. I'm hearing the Spanish song everywhere and frankly it's ok, very catchy but nothing else. You can look it up, it's called 'Say yay'. I've also heard the Italian one, more of a ballad and it's very nice too. To be honest I haven't heard any other Eurovision songs yet.Venus in Libra in the 6th house. I believe Eurovision has become very politized. Or it has always been as Belba said, which I don't totally agree with, since it was genuinely based on liking the songs back then when TV was black and white. Votes are nothing exciting for me to behold because you already know that some countries are going to vote for their neighbours and viceversa. For me that has no appeal what-so-ever and I often skip that part. And the songs... I compare Eurovision to a runway show; they show what is trendy right now, but no one is going to wear those looks outside of it -most people that is. IP: Logged |

I agree that the Eurovision became a bit political and countries often just vote for their neighbors. In the past I had the impression that the music was not always top quality, this year however the songs are really good and I can see many potential winners. IP: Logged |

I watched Szpak's performance and now I'm wondering if it's possible for him to NOT sign well live. It's a pity that the song isn't my cup of tea. Since he was mentioned here, I thought I'd post his chart with my ASC guess. I added the approximate time he started singing. Cool, isn't it? ------------------ The first psychic femdroid on the market. IP: Logged |

EDIT: Aaand Australia was on the verge of winning the Eurovision contest!, which should as well be known as Worldovision soon. And I wish someone at the ESC could explain how televotes work? Because I don't understand how Spain just got 10 and most countries got three figure numbers? WTF? IP: Logged |

It's cumulative points for a particular country from all the countries instead of announcing each and every single vote. So maybe Spain got 6 points from one country and 4 points from another and they just say 10 points instead of saying "6 points from A! 4 points from B!" which would take forever. Hope that's what you were asking about? IP: Logged |

Yes, I know it's cumulative points, I wasn't talking about that. I meant, after that traditional way of voting, they said that was only half the score. The other half was given in a more subtle manner, as they used a televote system (people who used the phone to vote) for that. And I said they need to use more clarity in televoting, because it's shocking to say the least that one country that hasn't received many votes in the traditional way like say Poland (sorry Poland btw) which was in the last position, suddently was given a hundreds of votes so that it came to the top. And the same happened to many other countries like Ukraine, Russia, France... I don't remember every single country name, but my point is that the Spanish song wasn't the best but it wasn't *that* bad, really. It was already in the middle of the list. Then how does it only get "10" televotes? Where do they come from? How do they count them? Those are my questions. IP: Logged |

Full results with full breakdown of votes will be available tomorrow on their website. It was done in this manner to save time. Otherwise it would take another hour to go throught each country's televote results.IP: Logged |

...... From people who viewed the show and then voted online or over the phone? Then they tally the ten most popular countries from that country's set of votes and give them points 1 to 12? IP: Logged |

Ok, right. I know. I am not talking about 1 to 12 points. That is the traditional way of ranking and I have nothing to say about it, it went as usual. If televoting was also ranked from 1 to 12 it wouldn't have been bad either. But I think now it's no more use ranting about this because the contest is over anyway. IP: Logged |
