so i know that your descendant is suppose to be what you're looking for in a partner etc etc etcbut with my early gemini rising that puts my descendant on sagittarius and i also have jupiter conjunct descendant. frankly i've never meet a sagittarius in my life that i liked. not for longer than 3 days. i just can't stand the mindset and the way they think so i can't imagine ever being with one. just the thought makes me cringe. is this normal? could there be another explanation? could my birth time be wrong? i was born early in the hour so theres a chance that with the chaos of labour the nurse may have looked late or the clock was a bit early? cause a taurus descendant suits me a lot more than gemini and that would put my descendant in scorpio. and i tend to draw alot of plutonian people into my life. It`s interesting that you say that. My DESC is in Gemini, and well, while I wouldn´t say I can`t stand them exactly, I certainly do not feel attracted to them. For me personally I have found that the ruler of the DESC sais more about my type; which is Mercury conjunct Sun in Sagittarius, and I love Sagittarius-energy. I also believe that the DESC, if it should act as attraction, kind of needs to fit the other personal makeup. In those instances when the DESC is contradicting pretty much every natal planet, it doesn`t seem to really attract, because htis energy just rubs us the wrong way. edit: Of course it could also be that your birthtime is wrong. Same here.. LMAOI don't mind Aries people (Aries being my Descendant, of course).. And, I think there may be a part that has some type of subconscious attraction to certain Aries traits.. But.. I think that is kind of a complicated thing. I think it really depends on the other person's chart as a whole. Maybe if I met someone with a STRONG Aries, I would be attracted. But, for all I know, maybe the Aries I've met have had other dominating factors in their charts.. Hmm.. IP: Logged |

My descendent is gemini and I can't stand gemini females even though I am female. I have mars in gemini. I don't mind gemini men. I haven't really been attracted to a gemini but I have been attracted to someone with gemini energy. He was a virgo with mars and moon in gemini. I think having a gemini descendent for me means being attracted to intelligence. IP: Logged |

You have just pinpointed for yourself what I have spent years telling people, and which Edgar Cayce pointed out to querents, namely that the exact moment of your delivery as an infant is NOT synonymous with or an exact analog of your correct Ascendant degree. The delivery moment has an elastic, not absolute relation to your correct Asc. Both happen within a 5-hour time window with the delivery moment about a 1/2 hour previous to the end of the window. Generally, Taurean types are too steady and practical to have much patience with those of the flighty, restless Gemini/Sagittarius axis unless they also have planets there or deeper connections suggested by other (say lunar) synastry connections. The Taurus/Scorpio axis describes steadiness, fixation on worthy, longer-term objectives, even groundedness. The Gemini/Sag axis emphasizes a more wide-open relation to the world of ideas, relation through the intellect and more superficial conversation or ideation, idea or curiosity driven movement. ------------------ The Declinations Guy - expert rectification Complete Rising Sign Descriptions IP: Logged |

^^ Is that saying to perhaps judge your ASC by a half-hour behind the birth time on your birth chart? Example: My stamped TOB is 9:56 AM, should I check 9:26 or something? IP: Logged |

Your descendant is just indicating what type of partner you are attracted to or attracting. If you have it in Sagittarius does not mean you will be attracted to Sagittarius Sun signs. It just means that your partner will have Sagittarius-like characteristics such as outgoing, philosophical, sporty, religious, funny, etc. I have my DSC in Gemini and I also do not always fall for Gemini Sun signs. I do however usually fall for someone who is intellectual, young(er) in mind or age, witty, etc. For you, it means that you will be attracted to someone with Sagittarian personality even if they have no planet in Sagittarius. Maybe they are Jupiterian. Also DSC is not the only indicator of what type of person you are attracted to. If you are female, your Sun and Mars also play a big role. If you are a male, your Moon and Venus may indicate the type of partner you are attracted to. These are just possibilities. IP: Logged |

No. It is good to consider the previous rising sign, particularly if your birth time indicates Asc in the early degrees of a sign. Your Ascendant window would range from about 10:30 AM back to about 5:30 AM. ------------------ The Declinations Guy Complete Rising Sign Descriptions Expert Rectification IP: Logged |

i have a major cap stellium but i'm plutonian. so i don't like the fightiness. i find that all the sagittarius in my life are just happy living life treading shallow waters and i'm not here for that. i want to dive into the deep end. i do like sporty and outgoing (but not too outgoing), funny for sure, religious (but not too religious), philosophical is great (but not so philosophical that their heads in the cloud i'm a cap stellium remember). if theres one thing i like about sag is the adventure that comes with it being a fire sign. but tbh i'd prefer a leo. I LOVE LEOS! my sun is in capricorn and yes i love my caps and my mars is in virgo but i find them too picky, even for me. i do have a venus in scorpio though. @Kannon McAfee ive played around with my time and tried to retain the placements that i know for sure is textbook me. and it looks alright. it puts my angles at a 29 degrees though but is it possible to just be a cusp? is there something significant with 29 degrees and angles?i know there is for placements. cause i fit the description for both taurus and gemini descendant. and capricorn MC does suit me a lot lot lot more than aquarius though i do find things in there that i suit. but when it comes to houses ... it puts my jupiter in the 7th house and i have not had luck with relationships at all. also would place venus, jupiter and pluto opposite my ascendant and i don't even know how to interpret that to see if that suits me.

The aspects of Venus to outer planets, the planets in the 7th as well as the ruler of the 7th, all factor in when considering whom one is attracted to.@sarahgm Do you have any planets in the 7th? It is also possible that when speaking of the 7th, we tend to project the qualities that we don't like about ourselves(opposite Asc) on to another person- possibly a close partner or something. Oh. I believe that. I don't resonate with the descriptions of Gemini ASC, especially physical ones. IP: Logged |

A genuine 29 Taurus Asc allows for both Taurus and Gemini in the personality because Gemini would cover the rest of the 1st house or a very large portion of it. In theory. But not knowing the specifics of your chart, I cannot give that as an answer for you. Unfortunately, there is no way to be certain about the degree of your Asc based on textbook interpretations of house placements or even what sign is on the MC. That is because astrologers writing these descriptions heretofore have had no idea about how house systems function in full (declination), so there has been no effort to integrate that information. In other words, you do not need a planet say in the 5th house to resonate with that textbook interpretation. If you have a planet nearly exactly parallel or contra-parallel the 5th cusp, it could be in any house, and you will still resonate with that 5th house description. Also, planets in declination, due to aspects to Asc, MC, etc, can also change typical textbook sign-based renderings of house positions, etc. It is difficult for me to communicate this type of information in a pop astrology environment and get across to folks how poorly house systems and rotational dynamics are understood, even among 'professional' astrologers. But I try to be understanding because I was once there too. There are planetary conditions (parallels, contra-parallels to Asc or MC) that can alter what is typical for any given rising sign. But we have to start somewhere with descriptions of rising sign based on what is typical, and what are the underlying principles of element, quality, and planetary significator. But planets are stronger than signs when they make aspects to the Asc/MC. This means they are capable of creating a very different expression, say if you've got Mars and Jupiter both making hard aspects (conjunction/parallel, square, opposition/contra-parallel) to the Asc in say Taurus. In this case, the Taurus rising person would be more active, more assertive, more expansive and social. The average astrologer, even normally reliable professionals, cannot seem to handle this amount of information (adding declinations) without feeling like their heads will explode. So naturally, they don't try for long. I was especially stubborn, even obsessive in the effort. Now it has become routine. However, for you sarahhm there is a general metric that could be applied to help sift out your situation. That is to watch transits of Sun, Mars, Jupiter to 29 of fixed signs, and to 0-1 of Leo and Aquarius. That takes into account declinational alignment, and hopefully you don't have other planets at 20 North/south that would run interference with your observations, which should be that those transits trigger energy & confidence. Recently Saturn was at 29 Scorpio. What did you experience during that time? (summer 2015, Dec 2014-Jan 2015) IF your Asc is at 29 Taurus, this would have been a time of feeling you were more isolated, not being heard by others, or in some way blocked or frustrated in your efforts at relating. It would have been a time in which you would probably have been fine with fewer friends, dropping some involvements, etc. Because Saturn is 19S11 now, it would be transiting parallel a DC at 29 Scorpio. 29 Taurus/Scorpio = 20 North/south declination. You cannot measure transits purely in longitude (zodiac position). It may be convenient, and look true, but the flat wheel longitude-only chart does not reflect how the earth rotates or the planets/sky move. ------------------ The Declinations Guy Complete Rising Sign Descriptions Expert Rectification IP: Logged |

I have Jupiter conjunct my descendent. And while I dated a Sag for a few years, I'm not exactly drawn to them. I think they're too brutally honest for my Pisces sun and moon. However, I am attracted to the qualities that Sagittarius brings. For example, I find myself attracted to partners who are adventurists, athletic, animal lovers (Sag's have a natural affinity towards animals), optimistic, and generally face life with a happy go lucky attitude. Are you attracted to the qualities of a Sag? IP: Logged |

Do not forget that while the 7th House rules marriage and partnerships it is also the house of open enemies. It makes perfect sense to dislike people who reflect the DSC.The DSC is the anti-ego, the other, the shadow self. You either seek out DSC qualities or you reject them. IP: Logged |

i think its pretty common for people to state that they have a hard time identifying with their DC/7th house. honestly though, i dont think about the ascendant axis without thinking of the descendant as well. i feel like the axis is crucial in that opposite synastry. for example, a taurus rising is far more emotionally intense and possession than typical sun sign taurus, because of its scorpio dc influence. i suppose when we dont relate to the 7th house, it can be the part of ourselves we in a sense are denying. what energy we project out, thus attracting back to ourselves which is the concept of karma.. its the house that gives us back exactly what we put out and the energies that synchronize with that or counterbalance it. i think looking at venus sign, placement and aspects could show what you are repulsed by too. personally.. i have my venus/pluto conj on the desc and my chart ruler is venus.. and out of all the aspects, that one is the one that really reaches into my soul. i identify with it 100% and i definitely feel like i project pluto energy and venus energy into my relationships and thats how people are always telling me how they see me, mysterious.. intimating at times, but a total sweetheart. im very artistic, so i attract artistic folk as well, but with a dark, emotionally possessive side lol. but to be honest, thats how i am!! so it only makes sense that i would attract those types of people. The 7th house is also the house of open enemies. Some of the characteristics we don't like about ourselves are represented by the DSC. In synastry i would prefer someone's planets in my 4th, 8th and 11th houses. I'm not attracted to my DSC either.IP: Logged |

My DSC is Taurus and I generally dislike Taurus suns. I attract them quite often and we make good friends but I just never feel that passionate spark with them. However...Taurus' ruling planet Venus plays a role in my chart for sure...my Venus is in Scorpio and I attract and am very attracted to Scorpio placements and Plutonian types. IP: Logged |

How curious, my descendant falls in Scorpio (thus I have a Taurus ascendant), though a bit of it belongs to Sagittarius, and as Electro said, I am neither attracted nor repelled by my 7th house cusp. I'm little involved with them in general and I don't get to meet many. There was one Scorpio girl with which I had some tension and repulsion in high school (I believe she had some planets in Sagittarius too, which square my Virgo) and I did like a Scorpio Mars guy, though he was a Capricorn Sun, which conjuncted my own Mars. But it never lasted or anything.IP: Logged |

The descendant shows qualities in which you like in a relationship, not always the sun of the other. ''If Sagittarius is the sign on the cusp of your 7th house then you’ll be attracted to adventurous, free spirited sexual partners who enjoy the journey in life more than reaching the destination. With Sagittarius in the 7th house you might be deeply attracted to love relationships with a partner who has a background quite different form your own, either culturally or with religious beliefs. The differences stimulate you. The part of yourself you might be projecting onto your partner if Sagittarius is in your 7th house might be the wanderer or philosopher type who is content to spend his or her life asking the big questions and seeking the answers. You might not be in touch with your deep urge to reach the truth and so if you have Sagittarius in the 7th house you’ll likely invite a love and sex partner into your life who is quite opinionated and tied to his or her beliefs.'' ''Jupiter or Sagittarius descendant: Want partner who is larger than life or partnership filled with exploration and expansion'' Found these online, does this sound right? IP: Logged | |
