Topic: Solar return predicting love

I have created a solar return chart for my next birthday for the year 2017-2018 (my birthday has been last month). The asc. is in Aries. Jupiter, ruler of the 9th, is in the 7th house. Venus, ruler of the 7th, is in the 3rd. Mercury, ruler of the 3rd, is conjunct the NN in the 5th. And SR Venus also conjunct natal Moon-Mars conjunction. Does that mean I will find love near home with a foreigner or someone I'll study with, and that the affair will be mentally stimulating? Can these locations signify the beginning of a significant relationship?The Sun, by the way, is conjunct SR Mars, ruler of the solar return ascendant, in the 4th house. IP: Logged |

I would say it's quite possibly more likely to have luck with and find abundance in people (of a foreign nature possibly) and partnerships (with the placements you've told me). Also having venus in the 3rd house would certainly give you to ability to be more flirty, charming, pleasant with people and in general communications (& things to do with the 3rd house..) But since your sun is in the 4th house, you'll definitely notice the 4th house themes playing the major role in your life for that year. It will be an extremely highlighted focus. Also with an aries ascendant you will tend to be more individualistic and independent. Natally I have an aries ascendant and no libra whatsoever, but for my current solar return year I've had the sun in my 7th house (conjunct jupiter and the descendant) for the first time in my life.. And I can definitely say the need to be in a relationship and find a partner has never been stronger. And I have encountered some relationship situations but haven't worked out unfortunately. (neptune was in opposition to my sun - the 7th house ruler and jupiter) Sun conjunct mars (i'd say) would give you even more drive and ambition to the house it's in and whatever connections they are making with the other planets..
- I can really only give you information on the things I've experienced so I don't really know about the venus conjunct natal moon/mars  hope this helped though  IP: Logged |

It is good to look forward to a loving relationship, but I'm not sure I can give you an honest, accurate opinion here based on what you've described. So I'm going to give a general overview of how to approach predictive astrology ...The houses that matter are only those of your birth chart. However, these are not reliable from chart to chart, because of inaccuracies in common practice of chart casting. You are much better off looking at transits for windows of opportunity in relationships. I'm a pro and I don't even use solar return charts. I see the solar return as a transit for one or two days. My friend, long-time astrologer Don Borkowski simply looks at the transits of a solar return that show up conjunct or opposite natal planets. It is a big assumption that a solar return chart will tell you what will happen for the next year when many of the transits in it are very transient. ------------------

Thank you very much, Kannon McAffee. I have no idea whether solar return charts have any value as for the upcoming year, I am new to this field. It sounds interesting, especially with the different ascendants and all. I wonder how ancient is this practice. Thank you for your thoughts. I wonder whether, when Uranus transits my 5th house in 2022, it would be a more promising time for me in love matters. I wouldn't mind waiting if I knew something would happen. Then again, I don't have much choice, even if nothing would happen, other than to wait... IP: Logged |

Ayelet, Uranus can definitely help spark things up when your love life has been empty. I experienced this when it transited opposite/contra-parallel my Asc 2006-09. It was during the end of that time I met my wife, Heather. But again -- that timing depends on having a very accurate Asc. (That is not synonymous with a specific to-the-minute birth time of record).There is certainly an opportunity window opened up when slower moving planets make good transits (or even oppositions) to natal Venus. Main thing -- learn about yourself. Don't spend the next umpteen years wishing, hoping, anticipating, but missing out on growing and developing in such a way that you become the partner you want to have. THAT is more important than trying to watch the stars into a relationship, kinda like 'a watched kettle never boils' (or at least seems to take longer). Great things happen when we are open to synchronicity, which is the phenomenon of astrology anyway. Give my Rising Signs page a read and make sure your personality matches the sign supposedly on your Asc. Read numerous descriptions from various sources. A large percentage of people are not actually the rising sign their birth time 'says' they should be. ------------------

Thanks for your answer, Kannon. I read your page on rising signs. But I already know much about my rising sign and other factors in my chart. I remember as a teen I wished to have another rising sign than the one I had. But today I'm happy with it. I guess I could be a different rising sign as well, since my moon is in Jemini (so I have different sides), but I agree with the part saying I like to work (capricorn). Surely I would like to become the best partner I can be.. Do you think Uranus transits the 5th house AND sextile my natal Venus in my 7th house can trigger a meaningful relationship? IP: Logged |

Ayelet, that is a window of opportunity for relationships, but consider that Uranus-Venus combinations are not of themselves indicative of a long-term relationship, but one(s) that could still be meaningful. Meanginful is not necessarily synonymous with duration.------------------

In 2019 Saturn will transit opposite my natal Venus, while Neptune will transit trine my Venus. Could this be it? (But Neptune will also square my Moon-Mars)I hope it's o.k. I'm asking you all these questions... IP: Logged |

Actually now that I looked at the ephemeris I am a little afraid, as when Uranus will transit my 5th house in 2022, it will also conjunct my Chiron and square my Mercury-Jupiter conjunction. That can mean trouble. I know because of the hard time I had when Uranus transited opposition my Mercury-Jupiter... My chart is like that, I think, that you cannot have an harmonious transit without having a hard one, or so it seems. Except for transits to the Sun. But this Uranus-Mercury-Jupiter square really scares me, as the opposition was terrible (And I have a natal square between Uranus and Mercury-Jupiter..)IP: Logged |
