I was surprised to find out that Taurus has many influential philosophers more than any sign!

Immanuel Kant, Bertrand Russell, David Hume, Soren Kierkegaard, John Stuart Mill, Karl Marx, Niccolo Machiavelli!

Is it just a coincidence or there is astrological explanation for this phenomena.

Well Taurus rules our VALUES and Taurus often have gemini in their natal chart like mercury or venus in gemini.

Also taurus with 9th house stuff or strong jupiter influence would be very philosophical when you combine that Taurus rules values and higher learning (9th house/jupiter).

So check their full chart.

Signs always incorporate qualities of their opposite. In this case, it's Scorpio.
Taurus is stability and routine.
When a Taurus reaches for traits of their opposite, they'll tend to get more philosophical. Scorpios, IMO, can be very philosophical themselves, and love going deep.
In the same vein, Scorpios can sometimes seem a bit like Taurus.

That's just my two cents.

The majority of them have either a taurus sun, moon, or mc

It's because many things in life are venus related. Money, love, family, social standards, etc

Philosophy is no different, it's a set of proposed values and ideas for life

Very great points from all the ones above. Also maybe, I'm not sure but maybe, bc taurus is a fixed sign? I mean, when it comes to "values" and philosophy maybe fixed energy is better then having fluid energy as with a gemini mercury for ex?

I think air energy and mutual energy is good for fluid thoughts, but as philisophy etc can be hard to grasp, maybe one has to have a bit of fixed mind/sign to be able to fixate and hold on to the complex thoughts etc so he/she can shape them into something solid? If I make any sense?

In Karl Marx case, one may disagree with me but, I think he was too rigid in his beliefs, a downside of taurus. Also his ideas were maybe good in theory, maybe "practical" taurus wise, also his values may have been taurenian, but in practice, they have proved to be, aweful ^^

Reminds me about Machiavelli (big fan of him ) who is scorpionic in his approach to things IMO.
