What combination of signs/aspects/houses show this?

She has a Cancer Mars in 11H, conjunct Uranus, sextile Venus, square Jupiter/Neptune.

I have limited experience that is my mother and my sons mother.

They are both Leos and both have bad tempers.

She also has Pluto in 12H conjunct Asc and Mercury in 1H conjunct Asc, but Pluto/Mercury not conjunct. All in Leo. Sun also in Leo but not conjunct any of these planets/angle.

The anger is an empowering place for them instead of the alternative i.e indifference or feeling like one is a victim of "circumstance" etc.

They can obsess clearly about how things "should" be and then find emotional chasms with how things "are". This "chasm" lights the fire and causes many disruptions.

The agitation or irritation is due to wanting to control conditions outside of them.And what often results is that when they find that they can't, it builds frustration.

The feelings felt here are those related to feeling disempowered, subjected to chaos, not feeling good, not feeling safe, not feeling validated, feeling helpless, uncared for,misunderstood,feeling unacknowledged etc.

So the tantrums are really a cry to "notice me", "this hurts me" , " this doesn't feel good to me" and "I don't have a voice loud enough to scream out how deeply this disturbs me" etc.

Your Mom has Mars-Uranus and further exacerbated by Jupiter. The Neptune there could suggest that this anger usually festers long in the subconscious. Its not just about the momentr here and now.

People with Mars/Neptune often carry "collective" anger i.e anger about crime, anger about mistreatment of women,anger about abandoned children etc. All this seems so grossly unrelated to domestic issues that it seems laughable.

But the subconscious thoughts(Neptune) pick up this momentum and this built up tension can surface overwhelming( Neptune) anger that seems to just come of "nowhere".

So its not even about the dog who ripped the couch anymore. Its about other collective issues that have little to do with the issue at hand and the anger is palpable.

When I was little I always felt that she took her anger towards my dad's family out on us. Now I feel that she takes her anger towards her colleagues (or whoever & whatever) out on us.

Now she puts the pressure on her grandchildren and they also start to rebel. She'll nag and nag it drives me crazy.

I tried to tell her to take it easy but this offends her and she'll storm off.

Her temper rubs off me. I remember having a very bad temper when I was young, but later I realised my mom was the one who was triggering me. With my dad I was a lot calmer. I was a sweet darling, lol.

Pluto in 12h conjunct Asc-Huge pent up momentum of extreme feelings buried just below the treshold of consciousness. Feelings of anger and/or resentment that goes largely suppressed or spontaneously burst to the surface. VERY touchy person

Mercury conjunct Asc is a compulsive & instinctive assertion of self through TALKING. What I say matters.A LOT. So the worst thing you can do to these people is ignore them.

Mercury when in the 1st house, has a tendency to be argumentative or defensive in speech. What you say to them can (and will) be used against you & their words are just as cutting to you as other people's words can be to them. This is the "nagging" you speak of too.

By default of reacting with the Asc, both Mercury and Pluto are interacting with each other. So the anger of Pluto does get to be expressed through Mercury. But the connection goes unacknowledged by your Mom's conscious awareness(because Pluto is in 12th)

Yes, your Mom can shout up a storm & nag a lot (Merc in 1st).But she's little aware of where the excessive force in her criticism,her touchiness & temper is coming from(Pluto in 12th).

Planets in 12th are very difficult to express (in particular Mars,Pluto and Uranus).Coz tye individual can say "but that's not me" when the individual expresses their traits(especially when close to the Asc).

Insert a camera in the house(Neptune/12th house energy hates cameras as it exposes the energy) and then let your Mom watch it when she denies the excessive nature of her actions.

This 'awareness' will have her own up to the largely unacknowledged traits and perhaps through this, she can seek help to better manage her anger.

Dr Phil(Pisces rising) interestingly enough, used.this strategy on his daytime talk show contestants to address behaviors that they dont openly acknowledge.

And true to the theme of his job and dealing with the subconscious actions, he also said "You can't change what you don't acknowledge".

I'd spoken to her at length and found her jumping through loops & loops of grievances tracing all the way back to matters long gone even though some of the issues have already been resolved or the people are already dead. She still seemed to hold onto the feelings but of course she denied this.

You're so right that Pluto in 12H can accumulate a reservoir of issues which may be unaware to the native and because they're unaware, they're not able to "release" them in doses and in a healthy way. Instead, it simmers right under the surface and erupts whenever someone accidentally touches it.

I remember growing up tip-toeing around her all the time because I don't know when I'd suddenly anger her and get a beating/scolding. I've Sun/Mercury in 12H. I remember feeling submissive & frightened when I was a kid and then I started "erupting" in my teens. That started our decade long war (lol).

LOL at your suggestion of a camera. My brother installed one previously and she got very annoyed and complained about being "watched", even though the camera was to watch the kids. So in the end we had the camera removed.

My brother has a bad temper. I think he has more control over it now, but he's a Cancer Sun with a Sagittarius Moon and a Sagittarius Ascendant (I don't have his official birth time so this is more of a best guess based on our differences and his overall personality).

My boyfriend has a bad temper. He has Moon square Mars and Moon conjunct Uranus. His Moon in Capricorn is also in 1st house. He bottles up his emotions and then he explodes when he can't keep his feelings bottled up anymore.

I have a bad temper as well. It's not as common for people to see it, but I have Moon square Mars in my natal chart like my boyfriend does. I have Mercury in Aries and Mars in Aries.
