8H Scorpio Moon square 12H Aqua Jupiter in my natal. I never related to the "you tend toward overindulgence" interpretations of this placement. Would anyone have other ideas?

I often think of Jup contacts to planets as having a "larger than life" effect. In that these natives will tend towards expansion or looking at things in a more broad way.

So pettiness or grudge holding(barring other factors in the chart) tends to not be their thing. As their generous nature and willingness to put their heart on their sleeve, is stronger than their ability to curtail their enthusiasm for others or build walls towards protective selective entry.

As such, they may expose themselves to being taken advantage of (this because they may overlook or positively overstate the intentions of others) as they may look at others in a rosy coloured positive light.

Jup also suggests lack of boundaries. And here there is no exception. The individual can lack discernment in the area of life that the Moon rules i.e this for instance could suggest an individual that may "overshare" their thoughts/emotions. Nothing is off limits to discuss. Or reveal too much that is very "private" -relative to other's taste.

Moon-Jupiter may also have a perpetual "hunger" and emotional needs that are not easy to satisfy (this especially when Chiron is in Cancer or aspects the Moon).

There could be a tendency to consume too much -either in food or materialism? Or getting into debt due to spending habits to quell the inner restless nature which tends to want continuous emotional stimulation i.e. "the more I spend/ have, the better i feel".

Jup square can give "overconfidence" or for one to not fully understand one's limitations.Once again Jup's boundless nature can show up here with a "nothing is impossible" attitude in many things. One can "oversell" then underwhelm.

You may bite off more than you can chew? Promise more than you can deliver? Thus amassing the reputation of being "unreliable". But typically speaking, even this does not mean others "hate" or ostracize you. They seem to get that you mean well and can overlook these tendencies (Jupiter's gift).

There is great enthusiasm for the new and then when that energy starts to wane, one can jump to something else or be less concerned about finishing that which they started(similar to Mars energy).

Jup-Moon may dramatize the emotions. This since Jup expands the up -down nature of the moon. So one minute its up up up. Then when reality sets in,its down down down. This especially if Moon is in Cancer/Aries or mutable signs.

At worst this aspect may give a sort of "bipolar" nature to the native's emotional expressions. Or have them be known as being "melodramatic" as their feelings (Moon) tend towards excess(Jup)

This could be because the early environment was unstable somehow? Mom was unstable? They moved around a lot and lacked stability or consistency in emotional ties? Some in the household had telenovella type of emotions that had to be expressed NOW NOW NOW in an extreme fashion?

On a personal relationship level, when disappointment are felt in love you can respond in a very sweeping, defensive and often martial way(Sco) i.e cutting people off, severing ties, brooding at the loss of affecton and by staying in bed and shutting the world out for days on end.

Then suddenly one day, you'll gain a more detached, cerebral perspective and realise that things are not so bad. That you may have taken something way too seriously than was really necessary (Jup in Aqu).

Those who know you well are aware of your mood changes and up/down ways. So sometimes they don't go along with your changing whims because they have learned to "read" that your excitable UP is soon followed by your "the world is ending" DOWN etc.

Sis has the wide square of Moon (Can)to Jup(Ari). When its good, its really good. But when its bad. God damne🙆🏿‍♂️.You get the gist🤷🏿‍♂️

It could lead to intense mood swings that placement, high highs and low lows but if the MOON is in Taurus that may help stabilize this tendency and help ground you a bit.

Thank you for your extremely detailed response! But this is what confuses me: almost none of it applies to me.

Really, with a SCORPIO 8H moon being squared by Jupiter, I should be the melodramatic person ever. But I'm not, and I'm sure that can be verified by my friends and family. Sure, I get moody once in a while, but it's not so bad where people feel like they have to put me on suicide watch or anything. In terms of my feelings, I would say I do feel very, very deeply, but, I think I'm evolved enough to a point to know how to manage such emotions, when to hold back, and when it's time to do so, to let the floodgates open.

I don't overshare (if anything I swing toward undersharing), I don't bite off more than I can chew, I have the most loving mom ever (in fact, can this placement mean this - your mom has an EXCEPTIONAL [but healthy] love for their child?), I know my limits, etc.

Now, about acting in sweeping and defensive ways when it comes to love disappointments, I can see that. But again, it's in response to serious things, I feel. And there has to be something in my chart to make me spiteful, because I'm not staying in bed for days on end crying about anybody - unless it's the death of someone I dearly, dearly loved - because if someone did me wrong, they don't deserve that. Sure, I'll cry, reflect, it'll be obvious I'm down and processing something to others, but I'm letting my emotions get that low for anybody.

This is why this placement confuses me, because it's one of my tightest, strongest aspects. Really wondering what it's trying to say.

All it really means is that your Moon is in conflict and/or tension some with your Jupiter. Let's break it down to basics: Moon represents our automatic/unconscious emotional-feeling nature, kind of the more "right brain" side of us, it represents our mother or mother figures, women/females in general, relates to our childhood conditions (along with IC/4th), represents minor, everyday type changes, minor fears, insecurities, and worries (not like the intense and deeper fears of Saturn and Pluto), deals with the public--especially in the collective unconscious sense where people in groups become more ruled by emotions and base instincts than reasoning or creative collaboration (celebrity culture is a very Lunar archetype), and also relates to a more Yin/passive-receptive, more feminine sexuality and energy (after all, the Moon connects to the 2nd Center/chakra).

In an aura color sense, Moon most often correlates to coral pinks, grays (those fears/worries etc), and sometimes when used most positively and especially combined with some simultaneous strong attunement to Venus--pale to lighter greens.

Jupiter represents the mind/perceptions infused/influenced by Higher/Expanded self or at the very least the Soul level, a universal consciousness, spiritual strength, finding the positive or higher perspective in situations/life, can relate to more codified belief systems aka religion (though, in actuality I would relate that more to Saturn) but also cultural belief systems, general expansion and/or growth (it is more a present to future type pattern), and believe it or not, but Jupiter is one of the highly psychic-intuitive Planetary symbols--2nd only to Neptune and slightly more so than Uranus.

Color vibratory wise, especially in relation to human auras, Jupiter most correlates with colors like regular purple, to royal purples, to magenta (especially if there is Mars shading in too), and if combined with simultaneously strong Neptune then more true violet to amethyst type colors i.e. fairly fast vibratory. Edgar Cayce's guidance once said something like, "Jupiter, the higher forces of all the planets, save the Sun" Translated to mean that Jupiter is the fastest vibratory symbol in our system, behind the Sun. Interestingly in another reading his guidance mentioned that purple and gold were the highest vibratory color indications, which fit/align to Jupiter and Sun perfectly.

Scorpio is the stage of a merging type sexuality and/or interconnection with others, trying to face unconscious shadow and/or ego issues (which involve intense, deep fears) which is why it relates to that oft vague, generalized word of "transformation", it relates to particularly intense attachments and the struggle to learn how to let go and let God more, and we all know that Scorpio has particularly intense and sensitive emotional nature. It is a Fixed Sign, so it is a "holding", focused, concentrated, and organzing type pattern.

Aquarius in many ways is very different than Scorpio, except for its Fixed nature. It is the Sign of sharing of hard won wisdom, deep insights, and grace to the collective. It is communal, group, and collective minded. It is far more emotionally non attached than Scorpio and yet, a sensitive indication in its own way (Aquarius is also the most psychic-intuitive Sign after Pisces). In its higher phase or attunement, it represents tolerance, kindness, service to others (the last 3 Signs are all very service to others oriented), more accurate/less biased/more objective, wide perception, collective creativity. It is the Sign par excellence of communication to and with the collective.

8th House is the House dealing with themes and things related to power and the various ways to wield same in society (money, sex, etc), fear-shadow, seeking of/being pushed towards transformation, it deals with more subtle and/or unconscious areas of life (such as nonphysical perception/sensing), sexuality in a more energetic and merging way, obsessions/over attachments, death, taxes, collective-shared resources (whether with a partner or with society at large), and the various other mundane associations that most of us know.

12th House is everything that the 6th House is, but in a collective and expanded way, and like the 8th also deals with subtle and unconscious areas and themes of life, especially in a more spiritual and over arching kind of way (like things related to "ultimates" such as Oneness, Source, very intense-expanded psychism/nonphysical perceptions, etc). Then the usual mundane associations such as hidden enemies, large and/or wild animals.

How this actually manifests in an individual chart can vary WIDELY. Best we can say purely astrologically is that your Scorpio Moon in the 8th is in conflict/tension with, and does not flow well or easily with your Aqua Jupiter in the 12th. Here are some examples of how this could manifest.

Someone with Scorpio Moon in 8th typically has a very strong focus on sex, but in the context of wanting/needing a partner they can merge more deeply with--not just physically, but intensely emotionally and energetically. But, simultaneously there is a lot of intense fear of letting themselves get very close to another--because they know if they do, that person can have power over them and deeply hurt them. Getting deeply hurt/betrayed by a loved one, is one of Scorpio Moon's greatest fears. So there is often an intense push pull and tug of war between desiring intense closeness with also rejecting vulnerability and that same very intense closeness.

Typically there is a rather high level of emotional attachment, especially in Lunar, Scorpio, and/or 8th House areas. Sometimes bordering on the obsessional and/or OCD.

Aqua Jupiter in the 12th on the other hand, often relates to a person that deep down, has very strong spiritual ideals relating to community and the collective. Often they really want to help and/or serve humanity or the Earth at large in some kind of big or strongly affecting way. Whether this is combating global climate change, ending poverty or world hunger, saving the oceans, or the like. But, it can also just relate to more mundane things like volunteering at soup kitchens, shelters, or other everyday community type services where there is no expectation of material compensation or reward.

But basically, there is a part of the person that deep down knows and cares about that we are all connected, and what I or anyone does, affects the whole, and so better try to make that contribution/influence/affect positive. Rather group minded.

Now Scorpio Moon in the 8th is not particularly group/collective minded at all. It is very focused on self, partner, and people closer to same.

It could mean simply that the strong emotional attachment to getting really close with a partner, could get in the way of those deeper and more spiritual ideals of service to the collective or community.

It could mean that the fears and security needs of Scorpio Moon get in the way of the promptings and nudges of one's internal, nonphysical guidance system, which are telling self things like, (deal with your fears, shadows, become less attached, become more free and giving to others, more open, put more energy and focus into your spiritual path and development, [or the like]).

It really can manifest in so many different ways, and especially how it relates to the whole chart. You would know best. But essentially it boils down to, there is some kind of conflict/challenge/tension between these to parts of self in a personality and life pattern way (Signs) and/or outside areas of life (Houses).

More generally speaking, a Jupiter square to the Moon can relate to over exaggerated emotional responses, or a dramatic flair or the like, but less so with Jupiter in Aquarius and Moon in the controlled, somewhat repressed Sign of Scorpio. At least, you won't tend to see it in the person outwardly.

But positively, this aspect could indicate the normally hidden, afraid to be vulnerable, secretive, etc Scorpio Moon is more open, expressive, and/or giving with their emotional nature than usual/typical in relation to others. Squares are not always just completely negative--really depends on the nature of the Planets and Signs involved. Both Aquarius and especially Jupiter are higher vibratory archetypes/symbols, and Jupiter blends with Moon decently, if not completely harmoniously.

But, to get back to challenges, both Scorpio and Aquarius have a rather strong insistence on having things "their own way", and especially emotionally, this could become even more pronounced--particularly in those 8th and/or 12th House areas of life.

@InTheStars, with your H8 Moon it might have something to do with shared resources or money in general. Have you or your mother gained or lost a lot of money through inheritance or debt caused by someone else? Jupiter could also indicate spouse or religion. Does that make any sense?

Good points. Also need to look at the Houses that Moon and Jupiter rule as well. In her chart, Moon rules the 5th House (hence quadruple focus on sex i.e. Moon, Scorpio, 8th, and 5th, with a double focus on children--Moon and 5th), and Jupiter co-rules the Asc/chart ruler (body, temperament, general life pattern) as well as the 9th (long distance traveling, exploring larger, more collective ideas and beliefs, publication, higher education, etc, etc).

Could even just relate to things like, a partner wants to go this place for a vacation, but she is like "No, I want to go to this country for vacation". Or, I want to have kids now (or later), and the romantic partner is like, no, I want to have children at this time or not at all.

There are so many different ways that this can manifest, especially when you also factor in the Houses that these rule, as well. Whatever the case, it will be somewhat prominent in the life as an overall theme, since Jupiter co-rules the Asc.

Another more side note about this particular combo, is that it can represent a latent but rather strong psychic sensitivity, but one that will not be easy to deal with. Like, if you open up more at some point, you could get a line of recently deceased "all up in yo grille" and not leaving you alone because they want to communicate to their loved ones through you.

But yes, Scorpio Moon in the 8th square Aqua Jupiter in the 12th, where Jupiter is a ruler of the Pisces Asc (and 9th) is potentially VERY psychic, and is going to pertain most to either the dead (Scorpio/8th House) and/or deeper spiritual matters (12th, Jupiter).

Hmm, think maybe my intuition and/or guidance was chiming in on that last one.

T. Neptune, the other ruler of your Asc and the most psychic Planetary symbol of the bunch, is now trining your Scorpio Moon in the 8th, and in the nearish future will be conjoining your 29* Pisces Asc...

Um yeah, you may very well go through an intense psychic awakening during that period. As mentioned, there is no more psychic Planetary symbol than Neptune, and when a transit Planet starts to conjunct our Asc, for a time (while its still in the 1st), that energy within us and in our life becomes greatly magnified--especially while still in conjunction with the Asc.

A funny example. My partner has T. Pluto conjoining her Asc (though starting to move away now, more so just in the 1st House). She never particularly had a thing for guys with strong Scorpio previous to this, but during this cycle, she has dated like 5 guys with Scorpio Sun, became gaga with a guy with Scorpio Asc (who turned out to not be sexually attracted to women), and like 3 of the Scorpio Suns had the same b-day (this was a message from the Universe..). This is the "Like attracts, begets, resonates with, and likes Like" principle of attraction involved.

(She's definitely also been more Plutonian like character and personality wise also under this cycle, and Pluto is not a strong symbol in her Natal chart, though she does have Scorpio MC. Natally, she is most attuned to a strong combo of Venus, Jupiter, Aquarius, and Capricorn).

Just realized I posted this comment on the wrong thread, so here it goes!:
You typed a lot to help me out (thank you as usual!) so I will have to respond in-depth later, but my question for now: what do you mean by "psychic" transformation coming my way? This year is obviously going to be one of major changes for me - like moving out, and the intense emotional and self-actualization changes with that - but am I going to become That's So Raven too?!

Lol, probably more like Medium than That's So Raven, but who really knows.

Astrologically speaking one of the outer, transiting planets conjoining our natal Asc and moving through the 1st House is a pretty big deal (often one of the most intense cycles/phases of our life). Remember that the Asc and to lesser extent, the rest of the 1st House is like a giant magnifying lens or amplifier for Planetary energies. There is no symbol in astrology that is more so, or as sensitive.

For a time, people going through such transits, temporarily really take on that symbol's energy, archetype, patterns--it's like for a time, they embody and channel that consciousness very directly and powerfully. You can see this even more in Natal charts when people have only one Planet conjunct their Asc and/or in their 1st House. That Planet can overshadow and color the entire rest of the chart, even including the Sun Sign and Rising Sign.

For a brief example, the globally known psychic, Edgar Cayce had Uranus closely conjunct his Asc. He was like the embodiment of Uranus, not just in his unusual psychic sensitivity, but also in his extremism and strongly bi-polar like personality/character. (He had other strongly psychic indications, but the Uranus Asc conjunction was the strongest and most primary. Certainly didn't help that his chart ruler the Sun, and also ruler of the Moon--Venus, were both in Pisces, among other indications).

Experiencing this via transit is obviously not as intense or long term as having it natally, but it's still a powerful and intense time of temporary powerful attunement to that symbol and consciousness.

Neptune is the most psychic of all the Planets. Pisces is the most psychic of all the Signs. Put them together at the Asc, and after a T. Neptune trine to the Scorpio Moon in 8th, then voila, chances are, you are likely to go through an intense psychic awakening and increasing sensitivity cycle during this time.

How conscious or unconscious it will be, I don't know. Obviously if you started doing a boatload of consistent, deep meditation, along with other techniques and practices of attunement, that would likely spark such an awakening. Heck, even a head injury can cause such changes. Diet changes can even affect this some i.e. a more vegetarian diet can help to open up and expand a person's intuitive sensitivity and awareness. Rarely will you find highly psychic people in a very consistently accurate sense that are hard core carnivores. Occasionally does happen, but its more the exception to the rule.

Or experimenting with plant medicines could be a catalyst. Or an NDE could be a catalyst.

Or, perhaps your Expanded self is just like, well it's time to open her up, and voila, it just comes out of the blue. Who knows, but chances are, you may become quite psychically sensitive and aware during this time. Especially when Jupiter joins in, since Jupiter is Natally in your 12th and is the other co-ruler of Pisces and of your Asc. Jupiter is the next most psychic Planet after Neptune, and Uranus is slightly behind Jupiter. (Then Pluto, then Moon, and then primarily the 8th and especially 12th Houses most deal with that pattern. 9th some too in a more niche way--especially as to precognition. And after Pisces, it goes Aquarius, Capricorn-Scorpio or Scorpio-Capricorn [they are rather close], Cancer, and then Sagittarius).

Wow. This is absolutely fascinating. Well, I'm open to whatever (good, safe) awakenings come my way. Your post also reminded me to the TV show "The OA." Have you seen it? Filled with fascinating storytelling about NDEs, other dimensions, psychic tuning in...

But I'm going to be an exception to your rule soon -- after being vegan for many, many years, I have already and will even more include meat and dairy into my diet. Wouldn't that be funny that's what sparks the awakening!

Haven't seen that show.

After eating completely vegetarian and/or vegan for many years, I started to incorporate some occasional, very selective fish as well as certain vegetarian foods.

Doesn't seem to impair that. I'm talking like people who eat like a pound of pork or beef a day, type folks i.e. hard core carnivores, like how my sociopathic step father ate.

Bruce Moen ate meat, but sparingly, and he was one of the more psychic-intuitive people that I've so far have met (and had Libra Neptune Rising in his chart).

My body is very sensitive to cow dairy. It can only handle well cultured forms of same, like yogurt and very well aged cheese. I stick more to goat and sheep milk products because I've found that is so much easier to digest and thus MUCH LESS mucous forming that most cow dairy is for this body.

This is actually more common than most people realize, but they spend most of their life being in a highly mucous filled state and so don't really notice it. Like my brother who loves cereal and has asthma... his spouse went vegan for awhile and bought only non dairy milk, and he found his asthma got noticeably better (big surprise).

And interestingly, ancient cow breeds, goats, and sheep only produce A2 type casein proteins, while modern breeds that are very common in much of Europe and especially in America, produce both A1 and A2 types of casein protein. It is the A1 casein that causes many people problems with cow dairy and not actually the lactose (true lactose intolerance is actually pretty rare).

The reason why folks can do better with well cultured forms of modern breed cow dairy, is because the bacteria literally breaks down the proteins and sugars into smaller and easier to digest particles. They essentially are predigesting it for us, which makes it a lot easier for our bodies to fully and completely break it down.

As I was reading your reply, I was excitedly about to mention the important distinction between A1 and A2 dairy and saw you already did! Awesome. There's so much nuance to animal foods, so it's often disheartening to see people loop together the factory farmed trash we're used to today and the organic/grass fed and finished/wild-caught, etc. foods that I have found to be transformative for health. Oy vey.

I think all food groups need to be in balance, and I've definitely learned nothing is spiritual about disrespecting your omnivorous human body needs. And, that being full of health balances your mind and emotions in ways that spirituality often requires. Might become more of a meat eater than some people like, but it hasn't impaired any spiritual developments so far.

It's funny, actually. I was vegan before its increasing popularity when people would ask, "Veh-gan? What's that?" Now with Uranus in Taurus and its obvious production of a mainstream vegan movement, my diet has shifted 180 against the tide. My Uranus square my Taurus stellium coming through once again...

Nice about the synchronicity re: A1 vs A2! I beat you to the punch (haha, you Taurus's tend to be a little slow. J/K!.) :P

The Edgar Cayce readings and Rosalind McKnight's book, "Cosmic Journeys" are both quite interesting when it comes to this subject, both from a health and an energetic viewpoint. Looking at both especially in combo, one realizes how relative it is to the individual, while there are some universal trends as well.

For example, Cayce often advised sick people certain flesh foods or animal products, and yet also occasionally told healthy people on an intense spiritual path, something very much like "do not lower the place of development with flesh foods". But then, with another person who ate very little meat, he told that she needed to eat more (presumably she was lacking certain nutrients).

Re: Rosalind McKnight's book, I summarized same on this thread:

http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum30/HTML/000138-6.html

P.S., Rosalind was long time friends and a volunteer with well known OBE author and founder of The Monroe Institute, Robert A. Monroe. I became personal friends with Rosie towards the latter part of her life (we lived in the same state and besides email, we also met a couple of times to hang out), and interestingly, we found out that we shared not only the same b-day, but also the same Moon Sign, our Mercury's were at the same degree in Cap, our Venus was almost the same exact degree in Aquarius (21 vs 22)!

For a little while, I thought she came from the same Expanded self as my partner, as a I sensed a very powerful connection between them, but when I meditated and asked guidance, I was told "no". I later learned that the connection hit a little closer to home so to speak.

Be careful with Uranus energy btw. Uranus is the symbol par excellence of going to extremes--particularly in the sense of going from one extreme to another. The Planet/symbol that most needs moderation and balance is Uranus.

I have fairly strong Uranus in my chart (Angular etc), and I have seen this in my own life, especially when I was younger. It's taken me a long time to learn how to ride and control this bucking bronco that is Uranus. Over the years, I've become more and more moderate and less prone to going to the extremes, but I still feel that siren call of wildness at times.
