Server equipment is being moved to a more secure and weather controlled/resistant building on Friday, March 18 around 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. The site will go down during the move and should be back up around 10:00 p.m. IP: Logged |

Randall has kept the site free all these years and has never charged for posting. A lot of opinions have been allowed here and moderation is not heavy handed. And there is a wealth of information, I honestly don't know any forum like this that has lasted that long and never charged users. It can't be updated, without losing certain responses from the past. IP: Logged |

I didn't think of that after 10 years away its coming home. It's good to have something the same after 22 years so many changes in the world. I was on discord a couple of years ago & it's all changed when I registered a few days ago.IP: Logged |

The pluses to updating: Member Avatars, Private Messaging, and an Ignore function. The negatives to updating: A more sterile looking format that loses the familiarity and warmth we have had for 22 years, broken images all over the forums from use of smilies, loss of posting history, and all the new glitches that come with updates. I would argue that private messaging is actually a negative, in that it encourages gossip and the forming of cliques, which can destroy a forum. Using a cost-benefit analysis, one side is clearly weighted more favorably. IP: Logged |

I like the look of the tried and true LL. I don't like when sites change because you have to learn them all over again.( Maybe I am just dumb with computers)------------------ Want to Read Simple, Fun,Sexy Articles on Astrology? Check Me Out, DUDE. http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

Private messaging wouldn’t be any different from exchanging emails, or adding each other on social media.

Private messaging is way different. It encourages gossip, lowers morale, and promotes the creation of cliques.IP: Logged |

It doesn’t. I’ve been on boards with PMs, and it’s no different. IP: Logged |

We'll just take your word for it. It's human nature to gossip about others and to associate with those of like mind (cliques). Private Messaging encourages that behavior, and it tends to rear its ugly head and show up in aggression on the forums. Exchanging emails is a rarity compared to having a PM function readily available. Social media--such as Facebook--is filled with gossip (including private groups created solely for that purpose), but at least it is kept off the forums. IP: Logged |

Facebook was trouble for me, because of you-know-who. She was one fueling gossip and lies. She didn’t need Facebook for that. I was accused of crap, when I hadn’t even known of a private group. People have talked about cliques being here, between people who had no contact away from here. But never mind. IP: Logged |

Yes, cliques can form at LL with no contact away from here, which becomes much worse with PM. You only served to prove my point.IP: Logged |

@Randall, that would be very sad. LL is different maybe due to it's atmosphere. Most of know if we don't jell with another, we are able to steer away. One would hope in this community decay can't become of it. We are supposed to be about growth in selves/relationships. I think the majority here have high vibration, hopefully it will remain so.
