I was really surprised that there wasn't already a thread specifically on this topic. I know at least five people with this aspect, plus my new baby nephew, and I'm wondering what people's experiences have been in practice, not just theory.Theory:
Obviously, a square to the nodes is a skipped step and the moon has to do with emotions, the unconscious, and the mother. It speaks of intense emotional injuries carried from the past life, and a refusal to deal with the emotions - a fear of looking inward. Loss of family, or a distant or abusive mother, in past lives and possibly in this one. Supposedly, it's the "classic orphan placement" or at least lack of nurture and sense of abandonment.
Practice:
Three people I know have a Scorpio moon squaring their nodes. One has a supportive but emotionally distant mother. All are quite repressed emotionally and in their head, one especially intellectual. One of them was abandoned in an orphanage by his biological mother; his adoptive mother is unstable, controlling, and intense.
Another (Sag moon) is one of the most traumatized people I've ever met, though he has a good relationship with his mother, but has been very unstable psychologically with a lot of baggage. Another (Virgo moon) had quite an abusive mother who instilled him with a lot of issues.
My sister I can see is strongly attached to her son (Cancer moon) but not in a way unusual for a new mom with her first child.
Interestingly, these are all males with the moon squaring the nodes.
Celebrities:
Shakira, Sarkozy, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Jim Morrison, Che Guevara, Clint Eastwood, Serge Gainsbourg, Chopin, Steve McQueen, Bill Cosby, Ben Stiller, Chelsea Handler, Martha Stewart, Edmund Kemper, Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers), and Stephen Fry are some of the famous people with this aspect natally.
It seems the mother can play a positive role in supporting the native's career: Shakira's and Aguilera's mothers have both been big supporters of their daughters' careers (especially compared to Aguilera's abusive father); likewise, Houston's mother was actually a Grammy-winning singer in her own right who trained her daughter and fought for drug intervention for her; Ben Stiller's mother was also an early influence and support for her son's career; Martha Stewart's mother taught her how to cook and sew; even Chopin's mother gave him his first piano lessons and Mr. Rogers's famous cardigan was knitted by his mother.
Sarkozy had a distant father, so presumably his mother was his main source of support. Chelsea Handler seems to have had a positive relationship with her mother.
So it seems the moon square node native is likely to have a mother who supports their career, especially when they have to fill in the role of an absent father. But this is largely due, I think, to the fact that I'm using celebrities as a data source - of course they had early support for their careers. I also wonder how much gender plays a role, since most of the positive maternal examples are women and all the negative maternal examples are men. (See below.)
On the flip side, Jim Morrison cut his entire family off at a young age and refused to meet his mother when she came to one of his concerts. McQueen is quoted as stating plainly that his mother didn't love him, and he did not consistently live with her growing up.
Kemper is an interesting case - a serial killer who was driven to kill because of his mother's extreme abuse; once he finally murdered her, he felt no more reason to kill women and turned himself in.
Notably, of course, Cosby is another one known for his sexual abuse of women, which Kemper shared. I don't think this is a statistically relevant point, but it tracks with the theory - if the lunar square shows up in the darkest possible way.
A very cursory glance didn't give me much information on the mothers of Che Guevara, Clint Eastwood, Serge Gainsbourg, Bill Cosby, or Stephen Fry.
I know I'm focusing more on the mother here, especially with the celebrities because I don't have the time to research their emotional natures. Any insight or experience with this aspect is much appreciated!
