Okay, I think my Japanese is going to suck here, but I think where the Mona Lisa is, says something about science and also the location of that rice field.

The lovely scene with the sun or moon (?) is weird...something like "stick to roman" - oh gosh, Japanese was never my strongest subject !!!

Mona Lisa one it says roughly something like, "village with the cultural heritage of rice, it's a countryside" i THINK. but it's written in a dialect and also i hope i'm reading it right, the letters are fuzzy. or maybe the part i think the dialect is just the name of the village. no clue.

but i believe it's their slogan, the one after also says the same thing on the left panel. on the right, it says "Tsugaru Roman". Tsugaru is a famous region of Japan, i forgot exactly where but i think it's the north (and northern rice is prized for their quality there). "Roman" i think it stands for the mix of "romance, romantic", but i think they use it like what we might conjure up from the word "romance literature", like the spirit of chivalry and adventure in the medieval writings, adopted to a more general and broader sense without the medieval reference. something grand and dreamy.

the Santa is a Buddhist deity, i think from the way he's adorned with a rice sack, and a bag, i assume he represents fertility and wealth?

how do they make different colours in the field tho??? judging the from how they are all in the shade of green, i don't think they used paint (that would make the crop inedible anyway). i wonder how they got the white-ish colour!

Inakadate is a small village located in the Minamitsugaru District of Aomori, Japan. The total area of the village is 22.31 sq. kilometers with a population just shy of 10,000. Each year, farmers in the area create magnificent crop art by intermixing purple and yellow-leafed kodaimai rice with their local green-leafed tsugaru-roman variety.

aaaaah, good job, Deux*Antares!! so the part i thought it might be a dialect is indeed the name of the village. and the word "Roman" ties with the rice specie then. coooool...
