Always like the pics you post HD...

I was doing a pic purge and found these from a fancy bow foray I was doing awhile back.

Taiwanese barges of sorts

This fellow is even 'dressed' for the occasion.

graffiti...
HD do you think that it is representative of street art? I did a quickie click around the world and Seville Spain had some jaw dropping work.

I never realized the history of graffiti till I watched a cable series on HBO called 'Rome' a few years back. The show informed me of salacious as well as political graffiti. Egypt too, as I looked that up later. Who knows what some ancient pictograph really says.

some hate it, I sympathize [sometimes] it all depends if it defaces some other work ..be it of historical or artistic value.
=========================================

That Naked Northumberland wench is interesting from above -^-^- and somewhat relevant.

from your link=>

quote:
15:34 GMT, Wednesday, 1 July 2009 16:34 UK Naked woman sculpture bid revived

Revised plans for a giant sculpture of a naked woman, which is to be carved into the Northumberland landscape, are to be put before the public.

The "Goddess of the North" will be made from two million tonnes of earth from the Shotton mine, near Cramlington.

Northumberland Council blocked the opencast mine and 500m-long sculpture plan in 2006 amid 2,500 objections.

But the Durham-based Banks Group successfully appealed to the government in November 2007.

The sculpture, also knows as Northumberlandia, will lay at the entrance to a 60 acre (25 hectare) public park in south-east Northumberland.

"It really is ridiculous to think that something like a naked woman... is a good way of attracting people to Cramlington"

Councillor Wayne Daley

Designed by Charles Jencks, it will be almost 100ft (30m) high and be visible from the A1M.

Tourism bosses in the county have welcomed the ambitious project.

But county councillor Wayne Daley, who has opposed plans for the sculpture and the associate opencast mine, said: "This structure will only come about after years of opencast mining.

"The project attracted one of the biggest oppositions to a planning application the council ever had.

"If we wanted something like this why didn't we just ask Jordan to open a theme park.

"It really is ridiculous to think that something like a naked woman, who is only there as a result of all of the slag and the coal from the mine, is a good way of attracting people to Cramlington."

A spokesman for Banks Group said: "Our aim is to make sure that we operate sites without causing undue concern to local residents.

"This project is in no way a pacifier, but is something we are keen to deliver as a benefit associated with our development."

Work is expected to start on the project next year and could be open to the public by 2012

Naked carvings in the North? whatever is the world coming to?
